Shawn,
Thanks for all of the golfing information you have given though Wisdom in Golf. I have been utilizing your methods for approximately a month and a half now with much success. I have alway been a bit of a fade/slicer with a glancing blow which has affected my distance especially with driver. I have always been able to control my shots and have stayed generally in the fairway and on or close to greens. Doing so has resulted in holding off a release of the hands.
My results since utilizing your techniques have produced a solid hit on the ball and more distance with all clubs. I have not seen an increase in club head speed though. I am concerned that I am still not using a release of the hands that i need to develop.
Hi, Shawn,
I was examining your SLO-MO clips through impact. Your release reminded me of what my first teacher worked on with me back 45 years ago as a teenager (My teacher – 76 years old at the time – actually paid the great Tommy Armour to watch him teach for 2 week straight back in the 1940’s, so obviously Armour was a major influence on my learning, and something over time I have learned to appreciate) Anyway, seeing your lead arm fold and turn while the right arm hugs the torso past impact is a move I have lost over the years and would like to get back. I see myself on video pulling the grip through impact with a very vertical shaft plane during the follow through. I can get away with it since I am still strong and 6’6″ tall, but a more slashing and circular move past the ball seems like something I should strive for in order to get back lost distance and more compression. My index is 6 but only because I still have a good enough short game to keep more scores within in reason. What do you think?
Your faithful follower, Ned
Hi Ned! Sorry I missed this one; I guess the emails from this video were just mot getting to my email box! See “lead hand release”, “trail hand release”. ‘Release fine tuning” and “snap release polish”
then see “turbo charge the lead hand release” and “turbo charge the trail hand release” then see “club speed” and “throwing the club” and “pumping up the swing”
Shawn
Ok, now things are getting clearer.
First see “blur of club” video so you can really identify your arc and distance you should have to the ball with that club.
Second, the effort level should be a 3 of 10 to get a 7 of ten speed and velocity in the whip; in other words, it should feel very easy to whip the snot out of your clubs.
Finally, see the “throwing series” and the “football drill” series to get your proper feel of delivery and support with all your clubs.
Shawn
Send a face on and a down the line of a 6 iron; tell me what the target is, the flight plan used, the intermediate point used and the last thing that went through your mind before you swung.
Shawn looking for something on the width of stance for the driver. I have been topping my drives. I took my normal stance and moved my floor back a little and started slaming the drives. Just wondering if it’s an anomaly or on to something. Thank you!
Hi Shawn,
Thank you for the slow motion video. Can you please explain how you generate club head speed. Which part of your body and how do you use it to generate club head speed? Thanks.
Hey Michael! Sorry I missed this one; don’t be shy to email me if I don’t answer within 48 hours as sometimes the email notifications to get to my in box. See the “club speed” and the “pumping up the swing” videos for this!
When I practice,I start backswing a foot or so in front of ball hitting irons
I make a complete backswing making better contact
does anyone play like this or should I work on a knee bump to initiate swing pmd
david
For the last 3-4 months I have been really struggling to get the driver in play. Missing left and right. Before that my driver was good.
Looking for one of the hitting sticks like you use in this video in hopes it will help sync my swing. Found several options. One is 54”, one is 63”. How long is yours and do you know the brand?
Shawn, great stuff you’re awesome. I’m looking for a video I watched awhile back where you talked about RIBS – Rythmn Impact Balance and Strain I can’t find it can you help me out please? Thank you JD
Whoa! That was a decade back on youtube; I did a video on “baseball game for golf shawn clement” I believe it was; however, I would go into the section of “taking it to the golf course” here on premium and go to the “process series”
Hi Shawn, what club/loft are you using and would suggest for the first 70 yard shots from the fairway? What about at 50 yards from the fairway? Thanks, Blake.
Hi Shawn, the tragic flaw in my downswing is that I move my head forward as I strike the ball. Is there any technique or strategy for keeping your head behind the ball as the club contacts the ball?
This year will be different for sure; borders are not open yet and we don’t know when and insurance companies are getting twitchy…looks like many of our members will not be coming down for the winter and we are making plans to expand the winter program. We have a great teacher in Naples, John Carroll, and another in Stuart by the name of Frank McChrystal. Send me an email at [email protected] if you want their coordinates.
