I noticed your backswing allows for more elbow bend and hinge at the top. The left wrist doesn’t necessarily need to be straight or flexed? Logo facing the sky.

Shawn Clement

When you see “grip and arm motion”, you will notice this hinging action is the same for hammering, fishing, football throwing, tennis serving and much more! WE ARE BUILT TO MOVE LIKE THIS. You don’t find it weird that the teaching industry shows you a weak or neutral grip, then you slice, then you need to make the back of the hand go flat or bow to square the face? DO YOU DO ANY OF THAT IN BASEBALL HITTING? You would lose your wrists to the orthopaedic surgeon! 😝😝

Well I’m new to the channel and just watched a few vids on the grip. Now getting +10 m on my irons with less effort. I now know I shot putt the club! Makes total sense. Can’t wait to try that new info out on the range. When will I stop getting better??

Reading the comments, I can see how we’re all trying to transition from position-based swings to task-based swings. I had to wait until the off season to completely disengage from what I had been taught, so I could embrace my new teacher, Shawn, 100%. I can’t say it’s been easy… sometimes I think I need therapy (haha). But Shawn, you are encouraging to your flock.

Hi, Shawn, i have tried axe drill this morning. i really swing the club very easily. But one question comes up, if many students of yours use this momentum and grivity mothods, why everyone hits different distance? like your daughter, she hits a long way. Because of arms weight, club head weight, if one wants to hit the ball longer, what should he do ? i assume he can play the way you suggest.

Shawn Clement

Mu and Sav are developing more distance in the GYM. Then they come back out and allow the kinetic chain to engage. See “kinetic chain facilitation series”

Chris Bear

I have watched the axe drill on the YouTube and premium channel, make sure I don’t miss something important in the description. So now, what u mean is to copy the feeling of heaving the axe, rhythm and tempo, to start my swing, correct?

Shawn Clement

Yes, it should feel like you are already in motion at address coming from the follow through; next you want to see “perpetual motion drill series” on premium
