Are you permitted under the rules of golf to put tape on your club when actually playing a round?

    • From Shawn Clement on FLOW STATE DRIVER SERIES- PART 1

You bet! As long as you do not modify during the round! All approved by the USGA!
Per USGA Interpretation 4.a(6) – Features above the top line of the head:
. For woods and irons, features which otherwise meet the requirements for “plain in shape” must not extend above the top line of the head by more than 0.1 inch (2.54 mm).
      • Permanent or semi-permanent lines or other markings which have been painted, inscribed or otherwise incorporated (see Section 1a) for alignment purposes are permitted.
      Pinstriping is allowed per below.

Thanks for all you and your team do for this game!

      Ray Casey

Using pinstriping tape to put alignment lines on your driver would not be an issue. We have deemed the pinstriping tape to be semi-permanent and can be used for the purpose. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Loving the premium site content, Shawn!

    Is it possible to …
    1) add the playback speed controls to the videos
    2) add a personal tracking feature that marks videos that I have watched
    3) organize the videos in each section in the recommended order of viewing

Thanx, and have a great 2022!

There are some limitations to our site and the video system is provided by Vimeo, one of the top companies and they have not upgraded their players in a while; would be great if they could!

I’ve been playing golf for 51 years and this drill finally taught me a golf swing which is to say – taught me the proper impact position/sequence and the feeling/feedback is awesome – bliss on a stick. But, there is no perfect and no automatic just more fun knowing the right way. Thanks Shawn!

  • From Anthony Pollen on Major Driver Setup Nugget

Shawn. In ‘ Unstoppable momentum, open closed face’ you describe the neutral grip, closing the clubface and then the grip at address looks as if it is strong, as with Savy’s driver grip. Is this the same process for the driver, neutral grip, closing face and then working out how closed it needs to be?

Club head speed is difficult for me. I feel like when I throw the club through the dandelion stem to fast I am all over the place. If I throw t slow and easy I generally hit good shots. However I know I am leaving distance on the table. How can I gradually increase the speed and then be able to gauge distance?

Hi Greg! See “task update” and “the kinetic chain facilitation series” and I will have a fantastic update on this within the month on premium, so stay tuned!

Are you going back to talkies anytime soon or just sticking with silent movies for a while longer? All in all your instruction has helped my game. Thanks

Once again excellent stuff Shawn ! Hey your ball position looks way forward ? Camera angle ?

    • From Shawn Clement on SLOW MOTION- FAIRWAY WOOD FADE

Yes, I was aiming left of the IP, which makes the ball position look forward in the stance; the best way to see this and feel this for yourself is with a door frame and goldie locks! See the goldie locks series ball position video!

  • From Allen Hanlin on SAVY'S GRIP- BONUS VIDEO

Hi Shawn ! So much information here it’s getting crazy ! 🙂 My grip adjustments (stronger) similar to Sav’s has really helped with my driver as I’ve added a good 15 yards of carry. But somehow I seem to be hitting my irons FAT more often? Could you offer some ideas as to what is going on from a grip perspective ? Doesn’t a stronger grip encourage more Lag ? Thanks so much !

    • From Allen Hanlin on SAVY'S GRIP- BONUS VIDEO

The stronger grip does mot guarantee more lag; that is what focus is for!!!

If say your task is like “task update” or “kinetic chain facilitation #6” or “throwing the club to the direction you want to start the ball with the “goldie locks predictions” that the ball is in the way and will go that way BECAUSE THE GRIP IS STRONG ENOUGH, then you get lag, power, solid contact and everything you want in a great shot!!

If you use a closed stance for a draw why would you not use an open stance to facilitate a Fade?

Hi Shawn thanks for sending me the videos of you hitting the ball properly unlike me I’ve got you on my swing analyzer so i can look at you then me can see what you mean your head moves backwards mine goes forwards my club in laid off .do you think with my bad back and left hip it would be better if i bring my left foot well in towards my right leg also my left arm is quite bent in the backswing your’s sav and mu looks straight .been checking out the backswing direction video i think i seem to bring the club to far inside cheers Steve

    • From Shawn Clement on Takeaway

Hi Steve! Yes, please let the lead heel come off the ground immediately and let the lead knee rotate in behind the ball as the butt swivels towards the target! See “diagonal stance series” too! This will take the strain off the lead arm and allow for it to maintain more natural and effortless width in the backswing!

  • From Anthony Pollen on KINETIC CHAIN FACILITATION #1 FEET TOGETHER

Shawn. I practised the legs together today at the range of a mat. I hit a few well, not your length at 74 years, but I also hit some fat. Is this likely to be because I am still hitting at the ball rather than out into the picture. Advice would be most welcome.

    • From Shawn Clement on KINETIC CHAIN FACILITATION #1 FEET TOGETHER

Remember, the goal is to use the returning of the butt to catapult the arms and club PAST YOU and out into the picture! If you look down, and you see a ball to hit, you are setting up for fat, top, shank, pull, loss of power, swinging with arms only, no finish etc…
You need to SEE-FEEL-HEAR a whoosh towards the target with the fastest point of the swing out in the direction of the target and well past the ball when looking down at the ball.
see “pre-motor cortex series” and “target confirmation series” and combine those with feet together.

Shawn, have you thought about adapting this drill to chipping/pitching? I use it with great success pitching and am considering it for chipping. Thoughts?

    • From Shawn Clement on SHAWN'S NEW FAVOURITE DRILL!

Flop shots, bunker shots, pitch shots yes; but chipping does not require WRIST HINGE. So I do not recommend this for chipping at all. See “chipping” video on premium which is Mega complete and then see the chipping video in the “kinetic chain series”
