    struggling a little regarding aim/alignment.
Do you aim (intermediate point) where you want the ball to start (meaning feet and swing points in that direction) or where you want the ball to land?

      Hr Fredrik!
      I just responded in the other comment you left;
Fade, line up to the direction you want to start
Draw, line up to where you want to end.

I hear Faldo preaching a”quiet lower body and a “level head” all the time and it makes my back hurt. Most all the pundit agree to agree that this is correct and certain position must be achieved in order to have a functional golf swing. Tried ever theory since 1969 and all it got me was occasional good golf which ultimately deteriorated as I became more fixated on the ball and my backswing. Your insights and teaching philosophy has renewed my game and my aching back to the point where I think I can actually improve at my age(70). Thanks again for sharing your knowledge,it’s been a great journey.

You are so welcome and we will continue our work until this is mainstream and every golfer has a chance to meet their full potential because they will not get cut down by injury, confusion or mis-information. Thank you for taking the time to write and please stay close with your progress in the coming weeks and months!

Thank you Shauna. This video has helped me immensely. I haven’t been hitting the ball crisply but cutting through the grass and focusing on a blade of grass behind the ball made all the difference. Can you recommend any other videos that would help with a sweet, centred connection at impact. I have a lot of free time to practise (I am on a farm) which is great. Kind regards Amanda

With the feet together drill, should club face be closed,? It appears to be square or open in video. Thanks!

It is all up to you and your needs, always! When you deliver through the stem of the dandelion with your action, how is the ball flying? Make the adjustments based on your dynamic flight of your swing; not anyone else’s. Shawn.

  • From [email protected] on USING WEIGHT TO HIT THE SHOTS-AXE DRILL WITH SAVY

Hi Shawn, this is my first comment/question. While watching this weight shift video with you and Savy, I picked up something new for me. I’ve always had trouble with Perpetual M. drill.. always seemed awkward.
This time I stayed centered and the weight shift was completely natural. The foot plant comes with out thinking. Hope to confirm this at the range tomorrow. Thanks!

Grasswhip training is always fun! 🙂 Why you want do that sword drill differently than grasswhip? I mean with sword you have superstrong grip and wrist release/rolling is well AFTER impact. With grasswhip grip is neutral or slightly stronger and you have to square/ roll BEFORE impact. Otherwise blade would be wide open and you would cut with heel.

      Hi Jukka!
They are not that different! Did you see the analysis of Joaquin Niemann at the first tournament of the year in Hawaii? He takes it deep through the ball just like the sword drill!!

Okay, just deeper release point. I wathed your video about Joaquin and that is deep! Though maybe not the most strain free way off cutting grass but power for sure 😉

Haha, yes, it helps if you are made of rubber!! 😝😝
You don’t have to go that deep, but it is a great visual of how deep you can go!😀👍

  • From Kevin Parker on DOWNHILL SHOTS WITH UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM

Shawn, so when you transitioned from the downhill shot to the shot on a flat lie while still wishing to hit a low shot, do you want to feel more weight on the front or lead leg. For a normal shot, you’d be more like 60/40 front/rear leg so for a low shot would you want to go more like 70/30 keeping the low point in front of the ball?

      Hey Kevin!
Yes, it will feel like a bit more against the left side without compromising the solid right side; you are still going to have a “bilateral” and complete weight shift; it will just favour the lead side a bit more. If you were to use the “walking and throwing” drill, it would simply be a low throw on each lead foot step. Make sense?

Shawn – What happens if you turn that box 45 degrees. I played a course in Nevada that had hills lining the left and right rough. Nice if your ball rolls off the hill back toward the fairway but not so nice if it stays on the hill part way up/down. If you have a side hill lie but you are off the right edge of the fairway then your target direction is say 30 degrees back to the target and one foot is above the other.

What I tried to do was make some practice swings parallel to my line until I caught a sufficient part of the grass then tiptoed up to the ball. As I recall I hit one pretty good but it was a bit in the toe and the other was a dribbler down the hill. How does your brain figure that equation out?

Yes, there are different combinations of the 2 and the key here is that the lie has to match the flight plan. The simple task that always gets me through is the cutting of the grass in the direction of the slope. If you get a bit too greedy, and you want the target, but you look down and it doesn’t quite fit the picture, then you have to change the picture option to fit if you want to limit the damage and save the furniture. Nothing wrong with a less desirable contact that reaches the green too you know! 😝

  • From [email protected] on MATCH BACKSWING TO BALL DIRECTION

Hi Shawn, does my backswing ha e anything to do with my high ball flight? My 5 and 6 irons are flying as high as my wedges. I have the ball a tad behind center for a draw so I don’t know if it’s ball position. Maybe it’s follow through. Any thoughts are appreciated! Love your teaching style.

    Hi Shawn,
This downhill & the previous uphill lesson is “HUGE”. The downhill lie with body in line with the hill and
then here is the part I was not doing – the head “back”
I struggle with a downhill lie to the green about 20 yards out. Same concept or no?
    Thanks ,

The FLOW Series is outstanding – you called it right when you said it was your best work yet. This is the video where it overall clicked for me. I finally conquered the demons of 20 years of bad golf instruction. For me personally, by way of feedback, the number one thing that fixed it was the goldilocks approach of making sure you can swing freely to the ball, at every point in the swing. I now realize in some of the earlier videos that I was throwing the club ‘badly’ and not really fixing things. But starting with putting, chipping and working into that free swinging position with the flow meditations and I’m hitting it pure. I’m sure its different for everyone, but that’s what did it for me.

    Hi Shawn,
I just signed up a few days ago and am up to the Swing Technique videos. I have noticed along the way that there have been many of questions about your head moving up and down in the full swing. I suggest you refer your students to someone who may have been the best-ever striker of the golf ball – Byron Nelson. This video, in real speed and slow motion, demonstrates the concept pretty well:

      This is exactly what I do in my left handed swing; my righty swing is more like Jack’s and Sam Snead;
See “pumping up the swing” video on premium as well as “feet together back to feet apart” and “anti-manipulation” for a great drill on how to naturally do and feel this at home!
      Thank you for posting!

So glad you are enjoying the process! You can also be so comforted by the fact that we are a solid decade ahead of the industry! 😀👍 Just saw the latest instruction from Mark Blackburn talking about getting lighter in the backswing which I was doing videos on over 10 years ago!!
