So how strong or week your grip is depend on ball flight? And also as long as it’s a tight grip where things are not moving around? My grip was sort of neutral but I really like the feel of a stronger grip.. now it’s a matter of not snap hook it.
Have a look at the “predict contact” and “the goldie locks” series; then see “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning”
Important details about confirming that you have fully released through the ball and out into the picture before you can make any modifications to the grip-club relationship!

8:20 to 8:30 is golden and is one of my faults. I find that trail elbow gets lazy and ends up to the side of my trail hip . I hit my best shots when I drive it and get it in front. This premium channel rocks.
Thank yinz
Hey Shawn, I have been giving the one arm swings a try. Around 8.30 you mention keeping your elbow tucked at address, when you backswing the elbow stays tucked right? Cheers
Hi Vince! TUCKING THE ELBOW IS A NO-NO.
SEE “football drill series” on premium to get the full gist of that trail elbow; very important. Stuff like “keep a head cover under the arm pits should have never come out.
Hi Shawn, great video! I noticed in this drill that it is very important for me to concentrate on my weight shifting to my back heel, and then transferring weight to the front with trail leg shifting from inside so that I can get the feel of trail elbow coming from the inside going out. I have a tendency to transfer wight when I shift to the front back foot instead of from the inside back heel – which causes me to get stuck and pull ball and lose power. Hope that makes sense. And this drill helps that were the lead arm release doesn’t focus on that.
Yes, but that is for your understanding; the key is to see where the “BLUR OF CLUB” wants to circulate and to respect and give it some space! See “blur of club” and “arc blur of club unstoppable momentum” video.
Great video Shawn. First off. I’m a new suscriber, I’ve been devouring your Premium videos over the past 2 months, but have deeply syudied your videos in the past half year. It’s made such difference (I have gone from shooting 90+ to 80s). Thank you so much and keep doing what you’re doing.
Back to the video. I’ve tried both lead hand and trail hand release. I have a very dominant trail hand (right) and have decided to go with this. What seems to work well is the pull through to release. I got it from your Push or Pull in the golf swing YouTube video. Contact is great. Just have difficulty controlling the direction a bit even if I do my best to swing to target. Do you have anything on pulling the club through on the Premium channel or do you plan to? It was night and day for me and the missing piece. Any help would be great. All the best, Richard from Budapest.
Hi Richard! You will see “how to stop pushing with the right hand” which is a very good video on how to rely on the kinetic chain to pull everything through. Which leads us to “the kinetic chain series” which is what you want to see next! Enjoy!
See our “how to use the weight in your swing-axe drill with Savy” and perform the axe drill and hit shots with it; it will get you that understanding and you will love the feel!
I have a problem seeing where the ball is when you are hitting the fade. Is it at your left toe?? When I do that i hit a really bad hook. Are you adjusting the club face?? your shoulders??? your feet ??? Can’t see it in your setup.
So is your club face slightly open for the draw. Then you release the club to hit the draw??
I can hit a draw but I have to close the club face to do it.
Just can’t see how you can fade the ball with the ball so far out in front of you.
Sorry for all the questions but it just doesn’t seem clear.
I have watched the posture & setup series, the Chamblee series, release videos and many more but I just can’t see it.
Sorry! Sometimes one falls through the cracks!
So to make it simple:
Fade you aim left of target, swing left of target, ball in a position that allows it to start left and grip-club face is just DYNAMICALLY OPEN ENOUGH for the ball to curve back to target.
See “fade fine tuning” and “the goldie locks series” for back up!

Hi Shawn, I just joined and have found your videos to really resonate with me. With the Braced Tilt, what is the weight distribution at address, both with irons and the driver?
Thanks!
Yes, any club you are delivering in the direction of the target, you will want to favour the lead side as you are getting ready to throw the club that way!
Shawn
I had been on cruise control for a month, not shooting over 80, but for the last 10 days Something is off. I seem to not be getting to my front foot efficiently. In thie video you talk about be ing aware of getting to the ground with Thr front foot without being conscious of it. This is what seem to be struggling with. I seem to need to be aware of it. I havre tried different tasks without any increased consistency. I have broken my 5th metatarsal 2 times on my left foot so perhaps I am protective of my left fo
Hey Joe! More on this to come as this is a fun subject! It is all about ALLOWING THE TIME for the kinetic chain to engage. I notice that when my swing has a noticeable pause for my own mind to be aware of, (I hear many people tell me about my pause) my performance is awesome and I feel I have so much time to grab the ground and throw the club into my picture; I feel that squat and the engagement of the kinetic chain go through my body like an upside down lightning bolt!
We are starting a PERPETUAL MOTION DRILL SERIES next week on premium and this will help you as we recommend installing it into the pre-swing routine for each shot.

I have run into an issue with my iron consistency and it really is the last barrier preventing me from dropping my scores significantly. I seem to be hitting fat again. I don’t think I am releasing at the ball because I know how that feels, and I definitely feel my kinetic chain engaging in the swing, I think it may be a mix of my strain level and possibly my setup.
With my woods and hybrids, I’ve evolved to point now where I never miss contact wise. I set up to the ball with my picture and intermediate point, and before I swing I just know, yup from this position and setup I can just whip the crap out of that ball towards my target. I have no issues plugging into the shot with my woods or hybrids.
With my irons, I just can’t seem to find that same comfort zone and confidence. I can’t seem to say, yup, I can whip through from here. I think my side vision could be playing tricks on me in terms of ball position with my irons. I will keep working at it with goldilocks but was wondering if there was a series on premium that you can recommend for me.
Haha! Right on Dario! More on the door frame coming soon! Oooohhhh sweet stuff!
Also, do you hover the club in the air ever so slightly above the ground at address?
Little update for you Shawn, my confidence is really growing now with the irons! Sunday I shot an 86 with a horrible putting day and had a personal best back 9 of 41. This morning I played a quick 9 before work this morning and followed it up with my best 9 hole score ever, 39 with a string of 7 pars in a row. I can’t believe this is the golf I’m playing now and can’t wait to get out there again! Thank you so much for providing us with a system that allows us to find ourselves time and time again! Woohoo!
Every individual interprets the grip pressure differently depending on their hand strength; some need 5 or 6 and some need 14 out of 10! We have a couple of nice grip pressure videos right here on premium to explain! 😀👍
Very important that you go see our chipping videos because the grip-club relationship HAS A DIFFERENT PURPOSE when chipping and using only one pendulum point and not a full load of the arm-club unit!
