Thanks for the video! I’m struggling to keep my ball flight lower and compressing my iron shots adequately. (I think I may not be hitting “through” the ball enough. ) Would u be able to point me to an appropriate video series?
Hi Joshua! You bet! See this one https://wisdomingolfpremium.com/task-to-shot-matching-series-part-1-hammer-through-door-for-low-shots/ and the “Hammer Drill” video
After many days I was just unable to hit my driver, was hitting right with fade. Calmed my self went through all the tasks, the IP, Target, levitate, relax-wide-slow, throwing the club, kept my weight front foot – back foot, and reason for it was I was trying to hit so hard on the down swing thinking I have mastered it, even with the task of throwing the club over IP, I was just unable to finish, my effort must have been a 9. Really eased up, held the club easier and I was back hitting beautiful shots.
During setup I find and this goes for all the clubs, if I just setup with a balanced stance and then tilt my distance and consistency goes down, but if I stand favoring left side my body is over the left leg and then when I take my stance and tilt everything just falls into place.
Just my insight.
Been a month now, the only way for me to make the aim-target work is Goldilocks it.
In pitching every single time I select an IP and try and swing over it, my ball goes Right of the target. Just cant figure it out. Full shots no problem, but a 25 yard-40 yard pitch right all day long.
Tried this in the morning, for fade I imagined coming from the outside and cutting across the dandelion stem sending the ball over IP.
Wasn’t good. Think knowing I was going inside made me go out a lot more, making me come out to in.
I have always had an inside takeaway and have taken so many lessons , railway track , turning my lead arm counter clock wise on takeaway, but ever since with the tilt and take away as per the IP-Target its way better and on the arc, the “momentum” now takes it back more in line with the task at hand.
But for short pitches, I felt I manipulate it to take it back as there is very little momentum to work with. Any videos I can see? Its the 15 yards – 40 yards.
Hi Shawn,
I noticed on your over head iron slow motion swing, I saw your hands were way more closer to your body/thighs than mine ever are. That could be due to the fact you have a much greater turn back and through than me. In my video analysis you mentioned I need to sit more turn the pelvic area more and have been working on that along with the garage door drill. Keeping my hands more under me I will get closer to my legs am guessing, should I strive for that?
I am tall with short arms; so my swing can look different than yours. The key is what will help you deliver your task best? Always ask that question when it comes to body part questions.
bracing against the door frame, just trying to be clear, hammer being the door frame that i understand, bracing against it I cant understand, sorry. My front leg and left side of my body is out of the door frame towards the target, how am I braced against it?
Embarrassed to ask this, I am hitting it amazing and standing like you just trying to understand the concept of the brace you talk about.
Question- what video should I watch to learn how to setup like Shawn does. He has that excellent behind the ball look to his swing that I just can’t figure out, I try it but my hips always feel off.
His daughter and Mu have that nice little hip set when they setup to the ball.
Hey Rich! See the “braced tilt” and then see “hammer drill” and look for the purpose of the set up where we are getting ready to deliver an action into the direction of the ball flight. Others would be “mile markers for contact” and the “two tee drill perpetual motion”
Hey Shawn, Might sound like a dumb question but when you refer to sending grass clippings to the target your refering to the grass infront of the ball correct?
Hey Shawn. I can’t get that big separation from my right index finger. They want to wrap around close to the other fingers no matter how hard I try. I think this might cause looseness in my backswing and especially when i do the continuous swing motion drill i loose it like 4 swings in.
It happens! It took me about 3 weeks to get my left handed trigger finger properly stretched out for this; definitely possible as you work on this! Keep at it!
Hold a golf ball like I hold the clementine in the “best video on grip ever shawn clement” on youtube video; practice stretching that index knuckle back.
Swing from the heart!! Blown away!! One of my most common issues is to fire the hips too hard and early, causing contortion of the body and an exaggerated inside out path which can cause hard hooks or push slices. Any additional advice on how to mitigate this?
Hey Dexter! Yes, practice hitting fades which helps support the downswing to the left of the target and thus preventing that collapse; use “arc-blur unstoppable momentum series” and “momentum already there before you start the swing” series combined with “fade fine tuning” and “how to match backswing to ball direction”
for context, i’m a right handed player. when swinging the club, is it okay if my trail hand (right hand) is the dominant “force” when swinging the club? or should i focus more on a lead hand release instead?
Practice both for sure; however, if you were skipping a stone on water, or slashing a sword through the bamboo, would you mot feel more solid with the trail throwing arm? Same for me! 👍
It varies; just once in a while to keep the feel fresh; as long as your feel that you are using momentum to deliver the shots and don’t feel the need to interfere.
Hi Shawn, regarding the fade, I was trying to keep the club open and yes instead of going left and coming back It either starts right or goes straight left.
Have watched all the videos on fade and have been trying hard, does help if I keep the grip pressure every gentle.
But what’s happening is if I am standing to the target and take the IP, My ip becomes right of my target. From there I throw the club left of the Ip with face dynamically square or slightly closed, makes my ball start left and stay left. I tried to get the feeling of sawing which results in fade yes, but goes way short with a lot of manipulation.
Help! My course had a lot of holes which are fade biased.
Always use momentum to deliver all tasks; no manipulation; if you throw the club in the direction you want to start the ball and the speed is nicely past and through the ball and the ball still does not fade, open the face more, aim more left and throw until it starts bending right after starting left.
Hi Shawn, You have been the first to answer this for me “How much back swing is enough”? Feels like I can easily slash!
I have always felt a short back swing always gave me better results. In my swing I used to feel I keep going longer than I need to go, making me feel I lose a lot of momentum coming to the ball. The arm club unit – momentum takes care of that. I feel solid at around 11 O clock in my back swing, should I make that my go to stop?
This one is PURE GOLD!
For me, I was going to ask about what I see when I am ready to go.
I am almost afraid to Look up and see my target once I have my IP “cause everything looks way off” , feels I am going so-right.
At 5.45 you addressed it, as if you were telling me. So I did perform the arc blur over the ball but I have stopped looking up once I am set, specially on the uncomfortable shots, is that a good thing or will I eventually get used to seeing the right when I look up?
Also go-pro over the top my driver looks way more closed, yours looked almost open, was it the camera angle?
Good! Stay with it! The side vision will always be this way; we cannot undo 100’s of Thousands of years of evolution! 👍😝 You cannot compare what our Drivers look like at address; very different for everyone!
