Shawn, This is an excellent video for us control freaks. I think this is where the cutting the stem causes me issues. So focused on “making” sure I clip that stem that everything tightens up. I am wondering if setting up with the correct swing path and then instead of a very narrow focus of swing out to a small point in the distance, would I be better with a wider area to swing out to? Say right third of green versus a leaf on a tree? I have read that wider arcs for putting and also wider arcs for ball flight help take the precision out and free up the swing. Am I on the right track?

Hi Shawn thanks for the video. Been getting in the way of the swing last few weeks!

Today when practicing throwing clubs, I finally just let go and felt the weight of acu…it felt odd bc I just let my arms feel like they were coming out of the sockets in a way… but i simply waited for the heft to build in the back swing..crazy as I was able to easily use this and hit the purest shots I’ve hit in weeks. Felt totally different powerful and not forced….bonkers and thanks!

This closing the eyes is probably now in the top 3 things I’ve learned from you Shawn that has had the most impact on my swing. When I close my eyes I can isolate the “feeling” of the swing. I thought it would be impossible but I hit balls easily with my eyes closed. So amazing!!! Thank You!

Hi Shawn – this comment is a bit misplaced but I watched the last YT vid of the Sav/Nancy Lopez move and was wondering how to reconcile with your advice to keep the toe up at address. Trying to get in the correct position before yielding to gravity….

Shawn Clement

Hi Peter! This is not for everyone; this is what works for some with VERY STRONG GRIPS like Savy. You could see I was able to replicate it easily to prove it works but it does not mean everyone should go there as many need the posture to cut grass and stay down with the shot. Now if you do go that route, please don’t worry about the toe of the club coming through the grass deeper than the heel; many of my low handicap students have a lie angle that is toe down through impact and it does and it does not impede their abilities to ball strike. All too often I see students gripping the club very badly because they are TRYING TO GET THE CLUB FLAT ON THE GROUND FIRST AND THEN GRIPPING THE CLUB WHICH IS THE DISASTER IN THE MAKING FOR THEIR GRIP. See more clearly now?😀

Your best description of a momentum based gravity swing yet. I finally get it. Thanks Shawn. Dan
