    Hi Shawn,

Been practicing relentlessly your method of chip/pitch. It makes total sense to me..I have been playing a long time and over the years developed a flip motion and as a result I am still hitting behind and sometimes thin. Not sure how to break this habit…HELP !

excellent lesson! what exactly do you mean by “buckling of the left hand” in describing the left hand on the grip?

  • From Shawn Clement on Student Lesson with Colin

Thanks DC! If The left thumb is too short, then the hand will buckle under that pressure when the club tries to hinge the wrists; see “grip acid test shawn clement” and “stop destroying your golf glove shawn clement” on youtube.

Golfing instruction is catching on. I’m hearing more and more online instructors using phylosophies that I first heard from you: task oriented, cutting grass toward the target, feet together drill, get the body out of the way, let it fall, etc. It makes me fell smart because I believed in you and have a much better understanding of what the heck I am trying to do. Thank you sir!

Thank you! Much appreciate the great comment! That is a great way to see it; nothing like immitation as the most sincere form of flattery! Sean Foley performed a full out Wisdom in Golf lesson with Brandel Chamblee the other night after Bubba’s second win; he has been flip flopping around no man’s land for years and he is finally coming around our way; he has to show that HE is the one who came to the conclusion; but nice to see that you guys see through it! 😀👍

Shawn, I want to say that I have read / watched about every golf improvement book or video that has been published. Your instruction is by far the best I have ever received. No one have ever made the “move the body out of the way” connection. Sheer genius! I have never been able to take a divot except when I would hit a fat shot. Now I effortlessly take ‘bacon strips” as you call it. I cannot tell you how much more I appreciate and enjoy the game of golf. Please keep up the great work.

    My Best,

You are so welcome Shawn. And to think, this is only after having the subscription to your site for less than a week! I can’t wait to see what happens after a few months of intensive study and practice.
I hope you and your family has a great Sunday afternoon as well. I will keep you posted on my progress.

Shawn, this cleared up the slide vs turning into the brace tilt. I tended to slide more than turning the hips. Excellent.

    Shaun,
I am truly progressing nicely with your training, I was wondering whether the grip with the driver should be closed “statically” like the irons and hybrids to start the prediction/alignment/process?

    • From Shawn Clement on Driver - Part 2

      Great stuff!
      As for the Driver, it depends on the brand and how draw biased it is; the key is to be able to fully release it in the direction you want to start the ball WITH EASE; then see how the ball flies; when you have a consistent flight patterns based on THE FULL RELEASE TO TARGET WITH EASE, then adjust face closure accordingly;

Thanks Shawn!! I am 63 and been playing golf since I was 12, I have never struck the ball as solidly as I do when I stick with the process. I can’t wait to see what the season brings!!

    Hi Shawn,

Your videos and golf insight have really improved my overall go getting my down to a 4 onstead of an 8. Question, at impact I take a shalow dovot, what is the thought process or drill to really hit down and take a normal dollar bill dovot and hold the angle until you cutting the grass after the divot ?

      Hello Shawn

I viewed the video you suggested, and will work on keeping my irons cutting the grass/low after ball. Is there a video or a thought with the club hitting the ball then digging into the dirt ?

In addition once I complete my backswing I sometimes forget to set myself against the ground and rush the downswing ? Video and thought process from commuting backswing beaching yourself against the ground and then starting the downswing ?

      Hi shawn

I am having trouble getting my boby to use the ground while finishing the backswing or do I use the ground before starting my downswing ?

When I see Rory swing hebuses the ground on the down swing to move his body out of the way as you memtion.

      Please advise here

Great stuff! This one is pretty easy! It is all about predictions or task:
      See the “predict solid contact and direction shawn clement” video and the “golf is as easy as peeling carrots shawn clement” video;
On premium, we have these as well; see “predict contact” and “through the ball” part 1-2 where we spray water to target!

Hello Shawn, it looks like the ball is in front of your left toe for the fade On th driver is this correct or should the ball be inside your frame?
Ps: loving your work i’ve abandoned the RotarySwing in favour of your methods and I must say that it’s been a revelation. I’ve been practicing hard for 2 years and dont feel like the input is reflected by the output, however after adopting your principals in relation to cutting the grass rather than hitting at the ball and having a clear task with and start and end has instantly provided benefit. It freed my swing and massively increased club head speed. Do you provide online lessons if so after a few more weeks of practice i’ll send you some swings. Thanks Michael Green from Kent, England

  • From Ranny Grady on Rhythm Training - Part 4

I’ve just watched your rhythm training for the third of fourth time, and I know it is helping me. I would ask the five iron rhythm is it equal for the five wood?

If possible I would like to see a super slow motion swing with the hands through the hitting area. I am having problems with my back hand RUSHING or over powering my front hand, which obviously spoils the shot. Any suggestions And training tips to correct us would be appreciated

Jeez man, just saw this post; so sorry but sometimes the system sends the comment or question to my junk box, so please email me directly if I have not answered withing 2 days!
This here is a focus issue, NOT A DEFECTIVE BODY PART ISSUE!!
Here is my focus sequence first; your priority is to now go get a task that will get you a feel of a release, or speed well past the ball so you know the difference between what you described as AT THE BALL and THROUGH THE BALL TO THE PICTURE.
If you get ahead of the shot, you will have to hurry up and release quickly to not miss the ball, very frustrating feeling that I remember oh so well a couple decades ago; HATE THAT RUSHED FEEL!!!!
See our “Stay behind the ball” videos on youtube and also the first video in the “consistency series” right here in premium. Then throw some clubs like in our “Club speed” video here in premium but be safe! See also “throw the club straight shawn clement” on youtube
Then see our videos about “the release” And finally “predict contact”
All the best and Happy New Year!

    Shawn,

I’ve been hitting the ball to high as well which decreases distance in comparison to my fellow routine playing partners. Any thoughts on how to improve shot trajetory to gain distance/roll out?

    Go to comment
    • From Shawn Clement on Driver Fine-Tuning

First you need to choose the height you want to hit the shot on! Second, to get all the way through the shot, you need a grip club relationship that is CLOSED ENOUGH at address to allow you to get through to the target!! Please see “through the ball vs atbthe ball shawn clement” on youtube and then back here for many videos that are CORE to getting all the way through the ball, like the first video of the “consistency series training”
