Shawn, which videos explain in more detail about set up and club face. I understand the whole idea about hitting the golf ball with the same action as hitting a hammer or swinging a tennis racket. But, when I lower my shoulder, do I adjust the club face? I think I saw you address this on one of the videos, but still need to fine tune this.

Great lesson and clarification on the task, Shawn! My brain was getting ready to go work on a plant/swing method until you pointed that out 😂🙃

Tried using the grip during a round yesterday and felt much more comfortable hinging on the backswing and followthrough. Led to much better shots! But ended up with a blister on the side of the index finger on my lead hand. Just gripping too hard? I overlap but don’t interlock the grip.

Hmmm; means the hands could be splitting apart and the ring finger of the trail hand is rubbing against the index of the lead hand; is the blister in the inside on]f the finger?

I’m having the same issue… And yes the blister is on the right side of my left index finger between the first and second knuckle.

So this means that the backswing turn is not big enough and the lack of rotation of rib-cage and pelvis is restricting the width of the arm-club unit. When this happens, and the upper arm crashes into the upper rib cage, the grip gets pried apart and the rubbing is inevitable. See the “senior series” to open up the backswing and give your grip the freedom it needs to stay in the club without strain!

My arms tend to get too far behind me and not high enough above my shoulder. Is there a good way to practice getting my arms and the club higher?

You bet! See “using the weight in your swing-axe drill with Savy” and perform that drill to hit some shots; then see “backswing levitation” and “perpetual motion drill series”

Really enjoyed this tid bit of how to connect the 2 chains. The utility of the walking drill makes so much sense now and has really helped smooth out the tempo. When I look at you at the 10 minute mark and you are starting a swing, it almost looks like you are pushing into your braced front side as a trigger to let your trail heel come up. I think I do something similar but the ball is not really compressing on the plant/throw toward the target. I guess the forward plant heave feels a little more glancing or not as firmly pressed as the back heave. I end up picking the ball off the turf instead of compressing it. If I add a little more squat/press on the front plant/heave I get off balance and over the front foot. I end up either pulling the ball if I hit it or thinning it. Does this make sense and if so, is there a way to make the forward plant heave end up with a little more compressed ball?

It is time for the walking drill for you! And the one leg drill as well as the downhill shot video; which will all get you to feel the brace inside the lead leg which will force the butt to swivel away from the target and catapult the arms and club through into the picture! 👍😀

No matter what I do, envision or predict, I cannot keep from casting/ early extension. I know your system works, having hit a 270 yard when I was able to put it all together. I just can`t replicate it. How long can I expect to struggle with this before I begin to realise consistency?

    Hi Shawn,

Do you close the face with your driver? From watching the video, it looks open. Illusion effect ?

    Cheers,

I can’t be more envious of this guys AOA at +7 degrees. I’m lucky if I get 0.0, at best, I’m still stuck at -0.5 with 4,000rpm backspin.

What drills would you suggest in order for me to get a more positive AOA please?

I bought the grass whip, I’m going to start using that and the one handed sword swing drill.

Great session! I like the one handed sword release drill before teeing off, I usually use the walking drill but I will give that a go as well.

Hi Shawn, New member & your videos are awesome. Wish I would have had this guidance 25 years ago. Quick question. I love the axe drill. I’ve never hit such flush shots with so little strain so I know I’m on the right track. However when I try to go back to starting the club from the ball, i.e, normal swing without holding it like an axe, I lose the feel & my arms jump in to try & generate power so my strain goes from 1 to 7-8. If I try to not use my arms I drop the club straight into the ground behind the ball. I know with practice I’ll get it & this is 25 years of bad habits taking over, but wondering if there are some other videos to watch to help with the downswing & just relying on momentum & gravity? Thanks!

Hey Doug! Good feedback and I would point you to a couple of important series you will not see anywhere else in the world; the “pre-motor cortex series” (HUGE) and the “arc-blur unstoppable momentum series”

I am new to the premium site and plan to dive headfirst into the Wisdom in Golf process shortly. There is so much information to digest, and I am not sure where to start. Do you have suggestions as to a logical progression of skill development – grip, then Perpetual Motion, then throwing exercises, etc. A wonky, left-brain question to be certain, but …

Two other questions: Is there a central place for testimonials of those who have learned the process? It might be helpful to learn what students have found most useful. And is there different content on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram?

I am looking forward to this adventure!

Hey William! You will see a lot in the comment sections of the site; lots to read in here!
As a good start, check out the “senior series” which is a lot like a power series that resumes our teachings quite well and is a great intro. Then search “grip” and “release” and watch all those. Then comes “throwing the club” and “the throwing series” and then the “predict contact” and the “Goldie locks series” and then the “draw fine tuning” and “fade fine tuning” videos; which are good to start with. Enjoy!

This looks way, waaaaay harder than it actually is. I’ve watched this video (and tried to put it to practice) probably 10x but I still can’t pull it off.

    She’s hitting (a nice easy) 285 with 101 swing speed – I’m hitting 265 with 108 swing speed.

Her launch angle is 17, mine is 11.
Her spin is 1,600, mine is 4,000.

This game is driving me crazy!

You are still hitting a cut right? She is hitting a straight draw-straight fade because she has a bit more abandon in her release. Time for you to learn the draw by going for some hooks and practicing the full release. Review “lead hand release” and “trail hand release” and my favourite is “snap release polish” and get that built into your swing. You will be glad you did! Right now, if you try to hit up more, because your release is not going to trap it, you need to hit down and left…
