Hey Shawn, do you not recommend aligning your shoulders to the slope when playing hilly shots?

Scott Bie

Probably just something I need to get over with practice, but, whenever I grip the club with an open face for a fade, the club feels “wrong” or out of balance. With a square or slightly closed face, the club balance feels fine. I use open face shots around the green without a problem. But, a full swing shot with an open face for a fade makes the club feel unbalanced and like my grip is on wrong (which I don’t think it is). Anyone else get this, and, what was the remedy for you?

Purposeful and controlled fades would be great, so, want to get over this unbalanced club feeling.

Shawn Clement

Hey Scott! I would go ahead and set up for the fade with a square face; for most, there is no need to open the face for the fade; the simple flight plan in mind with an alignment to the left of the target with a slightly forward ball position is plenty. Let me know!

I just came back from the driving range. I was practicing the unstoppable momentum by putting that slight pause at the top of the backswing. It really helped in starting to ingrain in me the letting the “weight of the club arm unit” start the downswing. A great swing thought. As an added bonus I saw the drill on the “Braced Tilt “. HOLY CRAP Shawn, I was making shots that I could hear that “Sound” of perfect contact. Now not 100% but enough to make me use it for a while on the course. I know you recommended using it for a short period. But My God it was a fantastic feeling.

Bliss on a stick! 👍😀💪👌
