  • From James Keefe on GRIP LEVERAGE- OFF SEASON TRAINING (1)

Hello Shawn, love this video. I have noticed on Your’s, Sav’s and Mou’s set ups that the shoulders are slightly closed to the path and the knee is canted a bit into the ball for a draw.

I have been trying to find a video (I’m pretty new to your site) that explains in detail the body set up on your website. I had been instructed to keep everything (hip, shoulders, feet) parallel to the target from all the lessons I have received, but I really like this set up that you are using……it looks more powerful in delivering the club head to the ball and promoting a draw…thanks in advance.

That is the beauty of this site; no static stuff . See “draw fine tuning” and “fade fine tuning” and then see “diagonal stance series” and “how to match backswing to ball direction” and search “alignment” on the search box too.

I recall you made a video where you used a few coins to hit through. Can you please point me to that video? Thank you….

      Ooo, good question! See the “2 tee drill”-use the search box;
in about 45 days, you will have access to my videos on a new platform that you will be able to search “coins” and it will bring up the video at the exact place I talk about it! Stay tuned!!

Hi Shawn – do you have any videos for hitting out of the rough? I’m having a very hard time hitting the ball first cleanly. I can see this drill helping and wanted to see if you have a specific video for the rough – thank you.

Hi Brian! Stay tuned for a huge upgrade coming soon to the members of this website where you will be able to search “hit out of the rough” and it will bring you immediately to the video and time stamp for the information. REVOLUTION IS COMING!! In the meantime, yes, we have the footage and it would be in the on course videos…

  • From Rich Mercadante on Arm Swing vs Body Turn

    Hi Shawn,

New subscriber here… Been golfing for a number of years. I’m a 60 y/o lefty. After watching and implementing some of the techniques, I went to the range a few times and starting hitting the ball better than I have in a long time… using the neutral grip with the club closed to about 45deg.. using the intermediate point etc. I was very satisfied.. Until yesterday when I went out to play 9 holes for the first time this year. Needless to say I was all over the place.. mostly with pushes to to L..bad missing, hanging back, etc… my nice little draw was nowhere to be found. I found myself concentration on swinging left of my intermediate point… throwing the club, etc. but I was lost. In assessing after the round, I was probably still too focused on the hitting the ball, even though I was telling myself not to. There are so many videos.. can you recommend some that I could watch and try to implement that would help me out?

    Best Regards,
    Rich

Hi Rich! LOL! We just did a podcast about that and it is a 2 week transition period from indoors to outdoors as there are so many more distractions that come your way! Ease into it and just keep your pre-shot routine very consistent and keep your task from and centre when it comes time to deliver the shot. See “pre-motor cortex series” and “target confirmation series”

Thanks for the quick reply! I’ll definitely check out the videos mentioned above. Also I came across a video where you talked about looking between the ball in the leading edge of the club and concentrating on swinging through at that spot which I think may help me to stay more on task, and not hanging back or hitting at the ball.

  • From [email protected] on One Leg Drill

Hi Sean, so this drill promotes staying on your left leg throughout the swing, but in other videos you mention while in a normal stance you need to feel your weight on your right heel at the top of the backswing, then sink into your left side as you squat, obviously these are 2 very different feels for a full swing, so which is correct for a normal swing?

    • From Shawn Clement on One Leg Drill

Haha! Very good question! The DOWNSWING feel is LIKE THE ONE LEG SWING. But the golf swing is a dual kinetic chain machine and the next videos you want to watch are the “weight shift with Savy”, “feet together back to feet apart”, and “the walking drill”. Then go to “the kinetic chain series” and the “Kinetic chain engagement series” which we are unveiling part 4 of today!

I have great range sessions applying all that knowledge, flushing ball after ball, with both fades and draw, with all the clubs. But when I’m on the course I feel uncomfortable over the ball. No amount of goldielocks seems to make me more comfortable. It doesn’t end up in anything catastrophic, but I can see my distance reducing and my shot pattern being more blocky when I hit a draw, and more like straight pull when I hit a fade. I’m not quite through the ball. I need to find a way to bring all that work and confidence onto the course.

    Hello Shawn,
I have the impression that the walking drill has a pretty steep plane. When you plan a fade it may become even steeper. I am a bit uncertain at the moment about the feel in the backswing levitation, more specifically the feel of the takeaway. I watched the ‘matching the backswing and the target’, and it is well explained – but still. Does the takeaway for the draw end up being an inside takeaway ?

They actually both have an inside takeaway; the fade less than draw as we are dealing with an arc. See “arc-blur unstoppable momentum series” and “blur of club”mas well as “how to match the backswing to ball direction” videos

Hi Shawn, having problems feeling the weight of the club. I am using Calaway apex cf19 with recoil f4 shafts standard grip, they feel extremely light to me. Could a heavier club help with this?

    • From Shawn Clement on KINETIC CHAIN FACILITATION #4

You will only feel the weight of the club as it releases you with G-force in the direction of the target; and you want to feel the weight of the “arms and club” as a unit as in the “using the weight in your swing, axe drill with Savy video

With all your experience and ‘nothing should be restricted’:

I would be interested to know how well can you can putt with a motion involving the legs ? In other words applying your principles of power generation to putting.

I think that the teaching says to avoid lower body motion. I have no good judgement on this, but it does not necessarily seem logical.

  • From Frederick Chacon on SAVY'S GRIP- BONUS VIDEO

Shawn, I want to clarify how the club is held in the left hand for a right handed person. Savanna seems to have the club more in her palm than on the fingers like Ben Hogan teaches and most other teachers. Am I seeing this correctly?

    • From Shawn Clement on SAVY'S GRIP- BONUS VIDEO

When you watch the Grip videos on the Bottom of the “list of videos by date” you will see that the requirement is NOT POSITIONAL and is related to how secure the feel in your hand is while executing a swing.

Hi Shawn, I’m new to premium and absolutely love your teaching style. It is without a doubt the best explanation of the golf swing I have ever seen. I have started applying some of your concepts and am already seeing some effects (I carried my 7 iron up in the 180-190 range a few times today!)
I have a pretty specific question. I’m a left handed person who plays golf right handed…. I’m wondering how much of a problem this could be, or rather how much better a golf swing I could have if I switched to playing left handed? I would NEVER try to throw anything with my right hand…
I learnt to play when I was a teenager (was taught by my friends) and only had right handed clubs around and was never that great (sometimes breaking 100). Then stopped playing for years and have picked up golf again over lockdown. In four months of playing I’ve got to the stage where I’m shooting consistently in the low 90s and have shot an 84 and an 85… So I’m actually fairly early on in my golf journey and am wondering whether it might be good to switch to left handed before it’s too late?
I’m also equally happy to keep playing right handed if you think it won’t make too much of a difference. Would be great to avoid the extra work and a replacement of a whole set of clubs.
I’d love to hear your thoughts?

Sounds like you are on the proper side right now with the distance you are getting! You are just like my Daughter with the lead side as your dominant side and this is like many many players on tour! When you throw, YOU WOULD THROW WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE CLUB!! So stay put, you are all set and keep going he way you are.

Shawn, your comments about finding a good teacher ring so true. My teacher that I had before lockdown insists on everyone always trying to play a draw and the way he gets you there is to look on trackman, show you that your path needs to be more to the right and then gets you to shorten your backswing and then manipulate your swing plane (using the Jim Furyk drill) so that you are artificially shallowing the club. He’s done this with me and I’ve overheard him doing this with many other students when practising on the range. I guess it does eliminate a slice…

I went to see him today because I had one more lesson in my pack and I was curious to see what he would say about my swing now I’ve been practising your stuff for a few range sessions. His Trackman said my 7 iron had a club head speed of between 91- 93 mph (!) and I was playing a nice fade (intentionally). He immediately said, let’s get you playing a draw and had me doing the same shallowing drills as I’d done before. Sure I was playing a draw pretty quickly, but my club head was down to 79-81 mph and I was often hitting the ground before the ball. He was really happy with the results 😂 – I kinda knew this would happen but wanted to go find out.
I was wondering, do you know any teachers in London (UK) or near to London that you would recommend/endorse?

      Hi Christian! Near London no but I do have one a couple hours south; would need to get his coordinates out; we were posting our teachers in the description of our videos last year and it was taking up some room and I need to get them all up on the website soon;
Your teaching pro story sounds all too familiar…😝

    Hello Shawn,
I am wondering what I should be seeing with the club face at address, Inwas always taught to have the club face square . Sometimes your club face looks open to the intended path and sometimes it looks closed, it also seems square at times…not sure if it’s the camera angle or you setting up differently with the club face at address to perform a fade or a draw….
New to the sight and love the content and instructions….I only wish I found you a bout 3 years ago! Unstoppable momentum is the best thing I’ve seen on any site!

Hi James! So glad you are enjoying the content! The camera and the point of view from face on is very different from what you see when standing over the ball. What you want to do is gage that dynamically with the “Predict contact” video and “the goldie locks series” as well as the “fade fine tuning” and draw fine tuning” videos!
