Shawn, I’m with you on the unstoppable momentum. However, I find it impossible to consistently use my body to make this happen. I know I want to swing freely through the ball and use my momentum, but no matter how hard I try, I just cannot turn my arms off enough to let it happen. They invariable add input and sabotage the entire kinetic chain. I’ve struggling with this for years. I’m not thinking use arms, it just happens. On the rare occasion I can let it freely flow the results are great. I’ve tried cutting the grass, going to a full finish, etc. They work for a little while until my brain figures out how to put back in arm input. I’m hopping you have some Jedi mind tricks to stop this vicious cycle. Paul

This may seem like a stupid question. I have had success using unstoppable momentum (heft) Axe drill, Battering ram,WIG basic “Get out of the way, Get out of the way”. Also the backswing series golf lesson video with the Doctor. That series takes me deeper and my downswing just happens on it’s own(which is awesome!). Then I see your other videos about adding speed and distance. Videos that say to use your legs and snapping the release. When I try to add those things my swing suffers. Then I get frustrated and try other things, which takes me off in another direction and I get worse. So, with that said. Should I stay on the “momentum” training and forget the other distance adding techniques? The golf swing variables and techniques can be confusing. I’m just trying to reach my potential and improve every day.

You are on the right track at the beginning of the comment; stay with that and the leg work will come later all by itself. The video is especially there for you to understand it and simply NOT TRY to keep the legs still or on the same level which would stunt your long term development. If you think about the “how to use the legs”, you will STRUGGLE! Think about the task of allowing the unstoppable momentum to ride through the arc-blur and out into the direction you want the ball to start.

Hi Shawn good video , notice that just before you swing the club back it looks like you almost tip your head away from ball slightly ( like your head angle not at ball.). when i do the 20, 20 9turn and tilt my head angle is always at base of ball area. Is there something that you do diff just before you take the club back that helps to keep you centered more. May be just the way i am looking at it. ??

A comment in regards to when Shawn talks about observing the blur of the club. This simple instruction can save you months of lessons and literally thousands of dollars in swing instruction. It can immediately change your swing path, like in 5 seconds. It is now my immediate go-to if my swing gets erratic.

Because we are terrible at focusing on positions, especially in dynamic activity, observations of the activity with a task-focused remedy can bring about immediate change.

As an example, my ball striking went south big time. I was cutting grass, throwing the club, feeling the weight, nailing the door frame, cutting the dandelion stem, literally going through all of the WIG greatest hits. Nothing was working and panic and exhaustion were setting in. This had been going on for a few weeks and rock bottom came in a match play tournament.

After watching this video I decided to observe the blur of the club doing perpetual motion and to my amazement, my swing path was outside, no question I was over the top.

So I said, well really Shawn’s voice in my head said, “What would it FEEL like if you wanted to swing the club from the inside?”

BANG! One swing and the blur of the club was picture perfect on the correct path. Did it a few more times and then stepped up to the ball and straight smashed it. My game snapped right back into shape and immediately I was back to a zen flow state. Five-second fix.

Rather than abandon WIG, go to an instructor over several months once a week at $80 a pop, and work on a crazy number of drills, I grabbed the proper tool from the WIG tool chest and got the job done.

Shawn provides so many awesome tools and there are several for each goal but oftentimes there is one that works the best. I am so thankful that the WIG tool garage is the best stocked on the planet!

Wow, you had everything but the kitchen sink and found the tool to get rid of the clog! 😝😀👍 WHAT A GREAT POST MAN!! Thank you for the awesome feedback and looking forward to hearing about the money you start making back now that you just pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes! 😂

Hello Shawn,
Just joined your site today and have watched you, Sav and Mou for the last 2 months on YouTube…love the content and how you instruct. I’m a 10 hcp and have been playing seriously for about 4 years. I am wondering, after watching Sav and Mou smash the ball effortlessly and how do I add speed to the swing (I finally feel the “weight” of the arms and club as a unit after watching your videos)..I can’t seem to get the distance I used to get when I accelerated from the top with lots of effort. I am swinging easier, with a nice draw, but am now about 1 club short.

Shawn Clement

Hey James! I am going to need a bit more detail! However, the videos that are musts are the “release” videos, the “throwing series” and “throw the club” and “club speed” videos, the “predict contact” and “the goldie locks series” videos and finally, the “feet together to feet apart” and “pumping up the volume” videos. Then let me know how you are doing!
