  • From Patrick Monshau on SNAP RELEASE POLISHING SESSION-WOW!

No matter what I do, envision or predict, I cannot keep from casting/ early extension. I know your system works, having hit a 270 yard when I was able to put it all together. I just can`t replicate it. How long can I expect to struggle with this before I begin to realise consistency?

    Hi Shawn,

Do you close the face with your driver? From watching the video, it looks open. Illusion effect ?

    Cheers,

I can’t be more envious of this guys AOA at +7 degrees. I’m lucky if I get 0.0, at best, I’m still stuck at -0.5 with 4,000rpm backspin.

What drills would you suggest in order for me to get a more positive AOA please?

I bought the grass whip, I’m going to start using that and the one handed sword swing drill.

Great session! I like the one handed sword release drill before teeing off, I usually use the walking drill but I will give that a go as well.

Hi Shawn, New member & your videos are awesome. Wish I would have had this guidance 25 years ago. Quick question. I love the axe drill. I’ve never hit such flush shots with so little strain so I know I’m on the right track. However when I try to go back to starting the club from the ball, i.e, normal swing without holding it like an axe, I lose the feel & my arms jump in to try & generate power so my strain goes from 1 to 7-8. If I try to not use my arms I drop the club straight into the ground behind the ball. I know with practice I’ll get it & this is 25 years of bad habits taking over, but wondering if there are some other videos to watch to help with the downswing & just relying on momentum & gravity? Thanks!

Hey Doug! Good feedback and I would point you to a couple of important series you will not see anywhere else in the world; the “pre-motor cortex series” (HUGE) and the “arc-blur unstoppable momentum series”

I am new to the premium site and plan to dive headfirst into the Wisdom in Golf process shortly. There is so much information to digest, and I am not sure where to start. Do you have suggestions as to a logical progression of skill development – grip, then Perpetual Motion, then throwing exercises, etc. A wonky, left-brain question to be certain, but …

Two other questions: Is there a central place for testimonials of those who have learned the process? It might be helpful to learn what students have found most useful. And is there different content on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram?

I am looking forward to this adventure!

Hey William! You will see a lot in the comment sections of the site; lots to read in here!
As a good start, check out the “senior series” which is a lot like a power series that resumes our teachings quite well and is a great intro. Then search “grip” and “release” and watch all those. Then comes “throwing the club” and “the throwing series” and then the “predict contact” and the “Goldie locks series” and then the “draw fine tuning” and “fade fine tuning” videos; which are good to start with. Enjoy!

This looks way, waaaaay harder than it actually is. I’ve watched this video (and tried to put it to practice) probably 10x but I still can’t pull it off.

    She’s hitting (a nice easy) 285 with 101 swing speed – I’m hitting 265 with 108 swing speed.

Her launch angle is 17, mine is 11.
Her spin is 1,600, mine is 4,000.

This game is driving me crazy!

You are still hitting a cut right? She is hitting a straight draw-straight fade because she has a bit more abandon in her release. Time for you to learn the draw by going for some hooks and practicing the full release. Review “lead hand release” and “trail hand release” and my favourite is “snap release polish” and get that built into your swing. You will be glad you did! Right now, if you try to hit up more, because your release is not going to trap it, you need to hit down and left…

Thanks. Right hand grip is not clear to me from these camera angles. Wonder if you have some pics or something for me to get the grip right

  • From Craig Hofer on Chipping

Have probably watched this chipping video and practiced it for months now and glad I didn’t give up on it. Can now chip great no matter the lie – almost always crisp contact. After 50 years of golfing it seems like I can boil all my small and big swing problems down to pulling my overactive arms inside on the backswing (manipulation). Now on chips and full swings I feel like my arms are responding only to my body turn back and through and my hands stay in front of my torso instead of my dragging them to the left of my torso looking for more power – that feels powerful but it’s not. It’s an incredibly hard habit to break – also trying to hit the ball with my arms and hands instead of just turning through and letting the ball get in the way – very ingrained! Hang in there golfers – Shawn is teaching the right stuff.

Nice post Craig! Make sure you see “using the weight in your swing-axe drill with Savy” as well as the latest “kinetic chain engagement” series where we re-iterate the importance of having 2 KINETIC CHAINS in the swing; one for the backswing and one for the Through swing.

Great session. Thanks Shawn.. I try to get 4 things pre swing…in our COVID lockdown…for all shots except putter/ chip….1 flight plan…2. Intermediate point ..3 sword slash ..4 mini prep takeaway . Biggest deal for me in execution is WAIT in the backswing for the kinetic chain allowing the legs and core to drive and clear and release the acu. I know instantly when one of the action elements is off. I’m thinking the sabotage is ball as target.
For putter/chip I still need to wait for the kc to release the club through the intermediate point. Retiring end of may and looking forward to real world application.

I use interlock, and haven’t been interlocking too far, but I think I’ve been putting my right (trailing) thumb on top, so I’m going to ensure in future it’s off to the side.

    • From Shawn Clement on The Grip - Part 2

Hey Randy! Not too much to the side right? You want to feel some nice support at the top of the backswing and in the transition and then all the way into the finish when the wrists re-hinge.

  • From [email protected] on Shotmaking Series

Shawn on the fairway woods and your advice to find the deflection point I find my deflection (or start of my shallow divot) to be much further back in my stance than I ever thought it would be, even behind the midpoint of my ankles. But when I position my ball just in front of that point I feel it will be hard to get the thing airborne and if I do hit it solid it comes out with a very low ball flight. Is this possibly because my sterna notch is too close to my trail ankle and tilt might be too severe?

    • From Shawn Clement on Shotmaking Series

Yes, your brain is telling you the right stuff! See the “goldie-locks series” on ball position and apply that to your set up and remember the bottom line is that you need to be able to deliver your throw into the direction you want the ball to start on!
