Hi Shawn when you are setting up for fade do your feet stay lined up straight to your intermediate point out front and you swing left of point for fade right for draw with open or close face depending on draw or fade ,not sure if feet alignment is same as your swing path or diff. Not clear in video to me . Thanks.

This video has dramatically changed my relationship to my ability to predict. One question: what video do you suggest to increase the clubhead speed with the driver?

See “club speed” video, then see “feet together back to feet apart”, “pumping up the swing” and “kinetic chain engagement series” and the one you just reviewed! 😝😀👍

Ummmmm. Cancel that question. Just reviewed heaving kettlebell/hammer. I feel very “light” on my feet with the driver, probably the last remaining remnant of manipulating the result by trying to be “accurate”. thanks!

I do not know what if anything I should do. I use the battering ram and have no conscience release it just happens and seems to work perfectly. I am scared to work on the release and ruin it.

Nice going Tim! The release happens; it is not anything that should ever be manufactured; if you are letting the hammer release itself, and you feel good about your compression and flights, then you can chill and get going on the course and enjoy for a while! 😀👍

Hi Shawn, I’m a long time YouTube watcher and member. Recently I started going down a “rat hole“ and thankfully you pulled me out of it. Now when I hit a poor shot I don’t think of positions I just think of my focus.

Question…how far a part should the two tees be?

  • From Barry Bower on UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM

Hi Shawn good video , notice that just before you swing the club back it looks like you almost tip your head away from ball slightly ( like your head angle not at ball.). when i do the 20, 20 9turn and tilt my head angle is always at base of ball area. Is there something that you do diff just before you take the club back that helps to keep you centered more. May be just the way i am looking at it. ??

It is all about how locked into the task you are; see “pre-motor cortex series” and I use that technique to stay with the task of either squeezing through the door frame or whipping through that stem or sending that divot peel into the picture.

I may not be entirely done with the videos, but I have always been taught to use a 630 to 1230 swing path…does that apply to this system?

Hey sean new to your wisdom! Premium subscriber….53yo trying to reinvent my golf swing love the wisdom method…question having a little trouble feeling the brain grab ground …..does the squat trigger this or does brain grabbing ground trigger squat? I feel it in grasswhip practice but when striking balls i feel like i go to left side early and too deliberate thanx

The task focus will get you there; when you hear “brain grabbing ground” it is NOT CONSCIOUS. See the “throw the club” and the “throwing series” as well as the “feet together back to feet apart” video.

Hi Shawn think this is one of your best videos for demonstrating address position and executing for draws and fades. Could you clarify one point for me. It looks like to me that for draw you initially set to your end target . At this point are we in the 20 /20 head position and then we close the face regrip and do that little head shift ( to get behind the ball ) to square up the club face. This is what i think i am seeing in the video. Is this correct. Finally have a good grasp on what to try and do in the full swing, practice throwing club every day ,great drill getting the feeling of unstoppable momentum. Haven’t hit the ball this well in 30 years. Thanks

Right on Barry! You are on the right track; what you want to do with this however is to confirm that it will allow you to perform your task through the ball; so see “predict contact” and the “goldie locks series” and understand that goldie locks applies to “tilt” as well!

Great video Shawn! I was wondering, what are your thoughts on whether or not we should take a divot during our practise swing? I feel like I sometimes need to feel that sensation so I don’t hit the ball thin, but at the same time I feel bad about tearing up the fairway/tee box. Obviously I replace divots when I can but…. sometimes the divots explode 😂

Hey Christian! That is why we pay the golf courses, to be able to do that! However, when you get good at this, you can simply send some grass clippings towards the target on the practice swing and understand that this would get you a thin shot; then when with the ball, you are anticipating a deflection with the ground towards the target and it just makes you that much sharper!😀👍

There is a nice video that Shawn did about actually taking divot with a back and forth swing drill. You might want to watch it… And practice somewhere you can take divot without upsetting anyone. And I would avoid taking divot on purpose on a tee box, if you don’t want the green keeper to put a contract on your head 🙂
Also you have to take in account that with the same exact full swing that just clip the grass on the practice swing, with the impact on the ball, the club face will be slightly deflected down and will take a thin divot.

when I feel on the forward swing that my hands are low and closer to my body I am able to stay more in sequence……does that sound right or is that something I should not think about?

    • From Shawn Clement on HOW TO REPEAT PRACTICE SWING WITH BALL- PART 1

Yes! That sounds like you are getting into a more dynamic posture to whip the club through and along the grass towards the target!

I have the almost same question…I noticed in your swing sequence at the 11:03 mark your hands just fall back to their original low & hanging below the shoulder position. When I do this it works well with the driver most of the time, however, my miss turns into a pull hook. I think for a long time when I tried to throw the club into the draw throw, I was throwing my hands out instead of letting them fall back and release. So my normal driver was a fade with an occasional pull and my miss was a slice with a wipe across the ball feel….So my question is, does the feeling of letting the hands fall to this lower position instead of throwing them out explain what I’m seeing now with my new lower/closer hands feel?

Not exactly; have a look at the “throwing series” where we throw all the different lengths of clubs out towards the target; my arms are a bit short for my height and my posture looks different than that of a shorter person with linger arms which would look more outwards.

Lovely stuff, I think this was a missing link for me. Ball position always changing. While practicing today I started just putting hands together club straight out knowing that’s the center of my sternal notch. I’d walk that up slightly on the target side of the ball then just adjust the club head behind the ball. That gave me confidence that if I just execute my swing, the bottom would be in front of the ball. So simple.

Ball position seemed to be much further back than I’d normally play it, which I think makes sense cuz I’d often have a hard time getting divots.

Good stuff! When the ball goes back in the stance, it will FEEL like you are delivering more to the right of the target, THIS IS A MIRAGE that the side vision is tricking you into thinking. Stay with the intermediate point for your delivery, let it release to the right edge of that IP for draw and see “draw fine tuning” video to complete the picture.

I feel the practice swing off the ground beside the ball is to feel the kinetic chain replicating the size and direction of the swing. After that I can slide in to the ball and lower the club to the correct height that allows the dandilion cut. The challenge is to ingrain the belief that I do not have to hit the ball but rather let the process throw the club out to the target…

Hitting a volleyball did the trick! Because of the size I had no worries about making contact, and allowed me to focus on the target. I can easily transfer this feeling with a golfball. The freedom in my swing is crazy! Thanks Shawn!
