Hey Shawn,
New to the site. I’ve always struggled with hooks and shallow backswing so the closed club face hands forward scare the crap out of me. Lol. I used to have a forward press and read that position can cause you to over rotate forearms on backswing causing this shallowing. Please talk me off the ledge. I’m willing to give it a try. Also working very hard on not being ball focused but “throwing” to target. I’ve even tried closing my eyes during whole swing and envisioning just the target. I’ve been surprised how descent I hit it. Does this seem like good idea to try?

Hey Jeff! No worries, this has nothing to do with any of the items you mention. Start with the “senior series” which is a nice overview of the “method” of human machine throwing the club to a target; then see “arc-blur unstoppable momentum series” and “how to match backswing to ball direction” and then see “the goldie locks series” and “the perpetual motion drill series” will round things out for you. Enjoy the process and stay open minded! 😀👍
Hello Shawn, loved watching Wisdom 1.0 and the step by step introduction. Now wisdom 2.0 and 3.0 are sorted in the categories, so it’s difficult to find the further wisdom 2.0 and 3.0 content out of this and get a step by step introduction. Do you have a sorted list of this wisdom 2.0 and 3.0 videos for premium members to find and watch them in the right order?
The evolutionary order is in the “list of videos by date” from the bottom up; but through a few updates we noticed through the last couple years that the order did get messed up a bit without us knowing. HOWEVER, we have an amazing solution coming that will blow everyone’s socks off and there will be an official announcement in the next 2 weeks that will make things super fast to find and super organised.
stay tuned!!
Shawn, if the feeling of swinging a hammer allows for a better sense of gravity and proper release, then what is your thought on playing a higher swing weight?
The best driver day of my life was on vacation once using a buddies driver that had a ton of lead tape on it. Felt like an anvil, but I was hitting 30 yards longer than avg. When I got home, I tried to recreate the feel on my own club and could not control it well. Figured the higher swing weight and length were likely just coincidence and never tried it again. Your videos have me thinking it might be valid to try it again though.
Sorry I missed this one Kenneth! What happened there is what usually happens when you are reacting naturally to something and riding the wave. Then you TRY TO FORCE IT BACK. Manufacturers get us with this every year when they come out with new gear. We take the club and swing with a sense of “let’s see what happens” and swing freely. Then we try to “make sure” to re-create it. See “pre-motor cortex series” in premium, a must watch and practice and implement into every shot to have access to flow state. Shawn
Hello Shawn, I have bought a new driver after a fitting session. I have had no problems with a positive AoA in this session (230 meters total/mpH club speed). No I have problems to get a positive AoA even if I’m from inside to outside and the ball is in line of the heel of my left food (I am a righty) no more than 190 meters total. Whats wrong?
This is a big question as it could be a lot of things! We would need to at least do a swing analysis so I can see what is happening; tell me also what club you use for 150 yards and what the club speed is?
The battering ram concept saved my swing. My grass cutting got too cutting edge focused and it started catching up to the hands. The battering ram solved that and returned that effortless swing. The battering ram will get you down into position. The task will get the club to release. This helped so much I had to get back on premium to see if their was more. Thanks Again
Right on Tim!
we are releasing the latest part 7 of the kinetic chain engagement series this Wednesday; and guess what the theme is…BATTERING RAM!!!💪👌👍
More battering ram please. I feel as soon as the club is parallel in the backswing it is a battering ram. Then my arms take it up to the top and let it fall like it is a heavy battering ram. When I get back to club parallel my task drives the release and it feels like magic.
Well, you are in for a treat because “kinetic chain engagement lucky #7 BATTERING RAM” is the best for last! You will see it right here on Wednesday! 😀👍👌💪
Unfortunately one of the most important shots in golf 😉 You appear to have your feet open on the second shot. Is that because the ball is back in the stance?
Great video. The grip till you draw blood drove too much tension up the arms. 7-8 was okay and able to keep wrists loose with firm grip. One fault that used plagued me is my right hand would close the face on the down swing. WIG has solved that (if I keep with the target) but it will take a while to clear that fear from my head.
Right on Tim! Great feedback! We always advocate to do things without strain; I just wanted to show how far you can go with grip pressure without affecting the swing because I see too many “bird holders” out there preventing themselves from ever getting that blissful compression through the ball. Did you see the “squaring of the club” and the “goldie locks series” videos?
This video has so many additional benefits such as providing proper club placement in the backswing, swing plane, angle of attack, and club release. All the things that modern golf instruction talks about but fails to cohesively illustrate how to perform it.
One task, the battering ram task, allows all of the above to naturally occur without having to think about any of it.
Thank you Shawn for another tremendous lesson that is task-focused and allows us to perform as gravity geniuses, freeing our minds to enjoy this great game.
You are so welcome! Great on you for seeing all the benefits as now you can stay with the task and evolve properly in the right direction with inevitable success!!
All I can say is check the attached picture. That is the type of battering ram I envision if hitting to the left. Strong left hand on grip parallel to ram. Palm facing target on grip perpendicular to ram. Now I have to order more practice balls.
Love this drill. Going to give it a go today. Key for me is your wording, ‘there should be no pushing with the arms, it’s pure weight’. So, to me this means pure weight of the arm-club unit. Will let you know how it goes!
