Hi Shawn, this grip has as you said added 15 yards to my swing on the range. However, I note that I am prone to pull hooking when I try to go for more. What would you suggest is the issue?
See the “Kinetic chain series” and the “kinetic chain engagement” series;
when you strain in the swing, you ruin the timing of the action and one common misfire if the pull hook.
From the seriously skeptical look, I have the feeling Mrs C wasn’t quite initially on board with being filmed, hahaha 🙂
Great video! Great swing! Going to single figure will be easy Nita, you can trust your loved ones on that.
Hi Shawn. I recently saw a video of this drill where you start with the ball farthest away from you and walk backwards as you hit the balls. I thought it was an interesting variation on your elephant walk.
Hi Shawn. Happy here with a second comment/question in one day!
Since the swing plane is on an incline, once the clubhead bottoms out, the clubhead should be moving back to the inside as well as up as it approaches the ball at impact. This *should* promote a fade ball flight since the path is slightly out to in.
I have watched all of your ball flight videos (fade and draw) many times, but am not sure how to account for this when I want to hit a draw, especially the high draw.
Is this what you meant when you referenced the diagonal stance?
Best regards,
Happy Roman
PS I am about to watch Part 2 so if you answer my question there, I will see it shortly.
Thanks so much for the quick reply. Shawn. I will watch those ASAP.
It also occurred to me this morning that you always stress the use of an intermediate point and feel like you are sending the momentum in that direction, or just to the left or right of it.
Hi Shawn,
i have a question to the posture: it seems to me, that you do a little bump with your hips to the left ( target) . Why do you do this and do you have a video to explain more?
I am very grateful, that I can can learn such a lot of things from you and your family,
best regards from Germany
petra
Hello Petra! Great to meet you! We are getting ready to deliver the motion and energy of the swing into the direction we want the ball to start on so we brace ourselves “against the target”. See “hammer drill” video for a nice example of this and also the “kinetic chain” and kinetic chain engagement series”
Hi Shawn. This answered my question from yesterday PERFECTLY.
It also explains the difference between irons off the turf and the driver. For an iron. the club strikes the ball before it bottoms out. Therefore, the clubhead is approaching the ball from the inside and would promote a draw from a *square* stance. This explains why a slightly more open stance is a better feel with the irons.
Conversely, after the driver bottoms out and is moving up at impact, it is approaching the ball from the outside and the diagonal stance feels more comfortable (when hitting a draw).
Correct me if I’m wrong, but moving the right foot back to create a *diagonal* stance seems to be the logical progression from the *pre-turn* we used to discuss on the forum in relation to the braced tilt.
