Hi shawn, someone pointed out my shoulders face way left at setup. When I see you you are closed but your shoulders dont look closed like mine do.
Why I ask is my consistency is lacking , lots of pushes that don’t come back or pulls. Happens more with drivers or FWs.

amarjot Bedi

Sorry, shoulders right of target…

Shawn Clement

Your shoulders will be more turned at the top of the backswing right? There will Always someone making comments about body parts in this game. What is the flight plan, then match the set up, make your predictions, deliver your momentum into the direction you want to start the ball, observe. Pay special attention to the goldilocks series and ask yourself: When I deliver my task with momentum into the direction it feels like it wants to go, will the ball start that way and curve in the air the way I want it to? Then you must STAY WITH IT. Then you get to learn. If 3 of them started right and you felt the momentum went that way, and it stayed straight, then you either have to aim the whole structure more left or close the face more and confirm you are feeling a nice full release! Please don’t listen to the untrained eye btw…

Hi shawn, to be honest, I think they maybe right. It started with trying to bump towards target like sav does, but I started to stand too much over my front leg, with weight all over the foot. In an endeavor to be more on the inside of the foot, I turn a little inwards along with the bump. So now my whole body is closed and I am drawing everything. Will send you my this months video.
So its not my swing, I have confused myself in the setup itself.
Have started watching all the basic videos again, braced tilt, bolted and centered, over the ball etc.

Shawn Clement

The best remedy for this is the walking drill Baba; get really good at that and then take it to the kinetic chain facilitation series. When on one leg drill, the weight is on the inside of the lead foot, not on top. When both feet are on the ground, both legs MUST SHARE SUPPORT OF THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY OF THE BODY. See also “feet together back to feet apart”

Do you have a set of videos in a specific order for a beginner?

Shawn Clement

Hi Bill!
go straight to the “beginner series” and then see the “list of videos by date” and scroll to the bottom and see Wisdom 1.0 series; an oldie but goodie! Then let me know where you are having issues and I will point you in the right direction!

Shawn,
Great meeting you this week. Is a good task “pull the arc back and then pull the arc forward” then aim that left or right of the IP?

It really drives home and automates all the drills we did w the deep hand release feel. I also REALLY feel the hip swivel.

Basically the feel I have is my right hip yanks my right shoulder back which heaves the ACU, then simply my left hip does the same. I feel like my body is starting the arc-blur, not my arms or mind. It just happens.

Pull arc blur back w right side, sling it at the target w the left side. Does that make sense as a task? Because holy moly this feels incredible!

Shawn Clement

That is a good thread to stay on for sure! Let that line of feel sink in! 😀👍👊

Philip Kwasinski

Would seeing the arc blur qualify as your task?

Shawn Clement

Yes, you bet!!👌👍

Sébastien EBALARD

Hey Shawn,
A quick message to share a new task that I am working on. I have seen a video of you on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptoyPmIaaHQ) showing that elbow must comes first in the downswing. Then I asked myself what is the easiest task for me to reproduce instinctively that mouvement. I have then inventend my own new task. I imagine that my right hand is wet with water or some random liquid that i want to remove from my hand. Then to remove it, I have to whip my hand in the air. And I have observed that to have more efficiency doing this I had to use my elbow not only my wirst. Now I whip my hand in the direction of the target to remove the water and I can reproduce instinctively the mouvement of the downswing with the elbow coming first :).
