  • From Knut Herzog on UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM SERIES: PART 2- DIVOT

Would you recommend this drill just for mid irons or also for wedges and woods? I guess you don’t want a divot with a wood, right?
    Regards,
    Knut

      Hi Knut!
sorry I missed this one; yes with the wedges and because the woods and hybrids are wider on the bottom and instead of a divot, it is a deflection along the ground or more of a scuff mark.

Hi Shawn, I m a single handicapper but I have not played golf for 3 or more years. Of course, I don’t play as good as I used to be. So, I decided to learn it again from grip. Luckily, I watched wisdom golf in YouTube so I joined wisdom golf as a member . Then, now I have questions, I m getting old(50yrs old) n I cannot make a full shoulder turn, only my arms can only reach parallel to the ground or a bit more. Now I hit 10 yards less than I used to on each club. Should I do more fitness training to get more flex or just let it lie n Just concentrate ur hitting method?
I have many many questions but it seems that it is too long for you. I will ask you later.

Hi Chris! Check out the first 4 videos of off season training 2020-2021 which are all about leverage in the release; perfect for your question!

Hi Chris! I would start with the Senior Series that we have which is perfect for you; then see “purpose of the backswing” and “weight shift with Savy” so you don’t limit the backswing unintentionally. Then see the “Backswing series” and the “Brandel Chamblee” series. Then let me know how you are doing and we can go from there!👍😀

I know more about the backswing, thx. One more question on the downswing, I sometimes get stuck my right elbow on the right side of my hip so how I can drop the my right elbow or arms unit in front of me.

Thx very much. I am amazing that the ball is going longer. And my question is release. I heard one of ur video that the feel of release is like wrist shots of ice hockey. I don’t really understand even I watch ice hockey competition frequently ( I graduated in Winnipeg ). I still cannot imagine how this applies in golf . Can u introduce some videos to me ? Thx.

Thx a lot, after watched the video u recommended, I understand more info about downswing. If my swing is a bit cross line at the top, and the ball usually goes low n weak, how should I correct it ?

    • From Shawn Clement on Clubhead Speed

Has nothing to do with across the line at the top! What was the last thing going through your mind just before you swung? Hit the ball or throw the club into a nice release in the direction you want to start the ball with ease? See “pre-motor cortex series” videos for some VERY revealing info!

  • From Scott Heath on The Grip - Part 3

This was my first video I added to my favorites, but its built on so much more. If you are just starting your Wisdom journey, I encourage you to use these early sections on Grip, Posture and Setup as your foundation. In the first 3 weeks of adopting Shawn’s methods I have seen vast improvement, more importantly what i need to correct moving forward. I don’t fight the notion of a super strong grip, don’t regrip my club as much, and use my index finger to knife the ball towards target. All items that i was oblivious to before. Thank you to Shawn and the staff. Going Premium has been a game changer!

  • From [email protected] on UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM SERIES: PART 5 - DISTANCE TO BALL

Hi Shawn – thanks for this video. Fairly certain this happens to me as out of nowhere comes a 7 iron that goes 10 yards longer. Might mean my hands just fell through easier so will play with distance to ball and momentum. What should be interesting is to explore the in between too far/close and just right…or the gray area. I tend to inch away from the ball and hit it off the toe so if I follow the formula you used with Savy, when I sense I’m to far during a round or practice, a good place to start might be get too close and back off until I feel more comfortable? Thanks. Tom

Perfect…then this begs a follow up question, are there any tell tale signs or patterns of ball flight that may suggest I’m creeping too far away? Right now it is more a feeling in my hands that the contact is not right then looking at the club face to sometimes see a mark near the toe from the range ball. Looking to add more data and wondering if I can observe something from ball flight to start to know maybe sooner? that I may be getting too far away? Thanks Tom

Toe shots typically will draw more; called the gear effect. This is why the faces of woods are bulged; like Taylor made called it twist face to rehash what has already existed for 60 years!

    • From [email protected] on UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM SERIES: PART 5 - DISTANCE TO BALL

Ahhh…forgot about gear effect. Starting to make sense. That is why if you go back a couple of videos (face open/closed), if your face is too open, you won’t notice gear effect and it will be a weak push/fade or slice. If you close the face it hook/draws so you try to goldilocks but it does not work well. Same bad toe strike but different result and you are chasing only part of the fix…you need both face and distance to ball (and probably ball position)…am I on the right track? Light bulb moment perhaps??

  • From [email protected] on UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM SERIES: PART 3 - Open & Closed Face

I’ve been totally amazed since the first time you showed how to close the face until you got a huge hook. You have to close the face alot before anything really bad happens. Surprised many times how straight the shots go. Until I can get a good draw going from a in to out swing I have been sticking with the closed face.

  • From William Brownley on THROWING SERIES- PART 1

Hi Shawn–hope you are well. I tried club throwing yesterday, and threw, as expected, a lot of well left throws! I watched another throwing vid you did on youtube, and I want to confirm what I am trying to achieve. If I throw well right of my target (as a righty) because I am side on, the club will actually end up on target(ish) when I throw it. However–if I position the ball correctly, making that “throw” with the club makes the arc blur of the club hit through the ball to the actual target. Which would mean when I hit the ball–it should fly at the target because I am throwing well right of the target? Have I got that right?

Yes thats the one Shaun. The confirmation of the too loose grip I was talking about. Trick for me is to still do that and maintain loose wrists or I will push it. 👍

    • From Shawn Clement on GRIP PRESSURE POLISH

Secure grip but able to let the weight of the club release your anatomy fully like in all the release videos; you need solid G force for that and “feet together back to feet apart” and “pumping up the volume” videos as well as “kinetic chain facilitation” series with the “2021 Off season training series” (first 4-5 videos) will more than do the trick! 😀👍

Shaun I was happy to hear your discussion about gripping too tight that your draw shot would not come back. I had let my grip get too weak and it has allowed me to strike my irons crisp and actually have a draw. With my driver it’s been more difficult to make the draw happen. I think my pressure is correct because I am hitting it solid and my wrists are turning over. Sometimes I get that knuckle ball nose dive left. Could I have the ball too far forward in my stance? I moved the ball back some and that seemed to help a little. Need more exploration, but I know it’s close.

I would check out my “driver for accuracy shawn clement” video on youtube and see how you do with that first; then gradually raise the ball up on the tee and increase tilt and a bit of ball position.

  • From Tim Peterson on The Grip

It feels more natural to have the strong hammer grip with my lead hand using my irons but with my driver it feels a bit unnatural. Question: Is there any change in the fundamentals of the grip between irons and driver?

    Go to comment
    • From Shawn Clement on The Grip

Depending on the shaft and head specs, some of my students need to open the face more with driver and some need to close more; what matters is when you deliver your action easily and freely into the direction you want the ball to start, that the ball flies in the air the way you want it to. So the same rules apply in the “goldie locks series” on grip and club face angle and in the “draw fine tuning” video.

  • From [email protected] on HOW TO STOP PUSHING WITH RIGHT HAND

Exactly how it feels to me with my pinkey betweenthe index finger and the middle finger. I put my rt ring finger on top of the index finger on the lead hand. Great for when I start pushing with the rt hand. Practice or even while playing. I always go back to my standard overlap grip when the pushing stops. Super video for us rt side hammer throwers.

It is all about removing the strain from the arms and placing the emphasis on a sound kinetic chain. See the “kinetic chain facilitation series” now to keep the ball rolling! 😀👍

Shawn, where do you aim your club face for a draw and a fade? Are you aiming at the target where you want the ball to end up or are aiming down the line you want your ball to start on?

    • From Shawn Clement on SWING PATH- ACROSS THE LINE vs LAID OFF

Hi Greg! Haha, this is the old way of thinking STATICALLY about it. If you see the first video in the consistency series, you will see that the look of the face at address is nothing like what it looks like at impact where it is way more open than at address WHEN DELIVERING THE BALL TO YOUR TARGET. See “the goldie locks series” for the grip and club face portion and the “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning”

  • From Matt Davis on DIAGONAL STANCE SERIES PART 1

Hi Shawn. After a great period of ball striking I’ve come to a point where I’ve become too focussed on set up positioning which had bled into my dynamic swinging of the club..
Being conscious of staying behind the ball can sometimes be an issue where I don’t release over and through the target..
I’ve always loved the idea of straight lines in my set up to ensure consistent ball positioning, but staying too ‘straight’ sometimes doesn’t help me stay behind it and on task.
Does this diagonal set up help you and Sav stay with the shot through your intermediate point?

    • From Shawn Clement on DIAGONAL STANCE SERIES PART 1

Hey Matt! What you want to see is “blur of club” and all the videos with the words “arc blur” in them. The arc of the swing is where it is at and the brain has an awesome ability to stay centred inside this arc especially WHEN THERE IS A SPECIFIC DIRECTION TO STAY ON. Savy’s task is to throw the club through this arc into the direction she wants the start the ball.

Good afternoon, this is the third time that I’m watching this video. Been trying this drill yesterday and really struggling. My knees are doing the Elvis move, my weight is off balance to the front and my body is lifting through impact resulting in thin shots. Guess I have a few things to learn from this drill. 😉

Hi Yann! Go to the original video called “feet together drill” on premium and then try the “one leg drill” and see which one you do best. Then perfect that and then search all the “turn-tilt-head-hips” videos from the search box for extra help on that.
