Excellent concept. This is a very important basic that I never gave much thought to, until now.

    • From Shawn Clement on MATCH BACKSWING TO BALL DIRECTION

This is what is great about it: THERE IS NO GREY AREA; it either matches the direction you want to start the ball, or not. Stay wide in that direction and you will naturally get on plane; no thinking.

I have been lookinh at diierent versions of your theory on release and have found some good swings. So tell where should the release ocurr that is the lead hand pressures back whilr the trail hand pressures forward. Where should you feel thid being done.?

Thank you Allen! What kind of other releases are you talking about? Baseball and tennis and ping pong or releases with the club?

Shawn … the Snap Release Polishing … with each hand and then Both Hands on the club … can it be done with a Driver as well ?

    • From Shawn Clement on SLOW MOTION- TRAIL HAND RELEASE

Yes, you bet! Full range of motion and full flow of momentum leading to that easy to produce snap in the direction you want to start the ball on. Combine this with the “perpetual motion drill series-driver” video!

Great video Shawn, the breakdown of common mistakes is so helpful. When I am practicing and one ball goes to plan and the next doesn’t, knowing those common mistakes helps me to work out where the disconnect is.

  • From Darryl Bowers on SNAP RELEASE POLISHING SESSION-WOW!

This is a unconventional technique, but truly spot on. Savy, your numbers with that 7 iron are outstanding, and further validates the teachings are solid. Nice job, the both of you.

  • From Eckhart Diestel on SLOW MOTION- LEAD HAND RELEASE

    Wonderful video Shawn, thank you.

I recently had some success in practicing timing using the concept: ready – steady – go.

    ready – set up
steady – swing back and down swing

go (with emphasis) – the timing of the ‘go’ starts roughly just before impact and matches the release that you show in this video.

Thus the go is timed surprisingly late. This assures the ‘through the ball’ and ‘maximum speed beyond contact’, or, expressed differently, assured continued acceleration of the club head during impact.

Thus the ‘go’ happens at ‘release’, not at the top of the back swing.

    Best regards

    Eckhart

This grip technique is hands down the best I’ve ever seen. Mu you give a different perspective with the say, “Cooking with rice”. This I will add to the training. Thanks.

trying to calm the right side , keep hitting towering over draws . it’s almost like I feel the weight too much . and track by putting a push from the right 🙁 only on 6-9 irons though

Watch “how to stop hitting with the right hand” on premium; I am in that lesson now and we just changed from 17 degrees closed face to 1.5 degrees closed and peppering the green from being 70 yards left of green.

I’m just back from the park where I threw some hand sledges, some secondhand irons and an 8-pound maul. For the first time I feel some hope that I can develop a competent swing. I don’t want to sound grandiose but this really has been transformative.

    • From Shawn Clement on THROWING SERIES- PART 1

Hey David! IT IS VERY TRANSFORMATIVE! You realize that the golf club should always be delivered this way; WAY TO GO FOR GETTING OUT THERE!!! Now you will reap some serious benefits; I am very excited for you. Shawn

  • From Lyle Goodman on Hammer Drill

Is there an advantage to swing outside of the ball to look for the arc blur?
I’ve seen you demonstrate this by swinging on the inside of the ball, maybe just personal preference?

    • From Shawn Clement on Hammer Drill

Great question Lyle; we would have to try it out! 😀👍
Anytime you can see where the club is passing when you swing to the target, then it is a prediction model. So I am sure there is benefit to it.

I’ve just joined Wisdom Golf Premium. So far every video that I’ve watched quits at some point as if it’s trying to load and I’m haven’t been able to finish any video. I never have a problem with my internet connection. Can you please help me with this. Thank you. Chip Brejc

Hi Chip! Sorry for that; it has happened in the past a long time ago and we have enjoyed some very consistent playback with the Vimeo player; it could be that your browser needs an update or you can try with a different browser; also, you can check the little cog wheel at the right bottom of the screen and switch to 720p and see if the lower resolution works better and this will confirm if your internet is a bit bogged down.

This is the best piece of advice I’ve ever heard. Thanks!
