Hi Shawn! Do forearms touch each other in the followthrough? 1:45 in video it looks so. thnx

Doug Wetzel

Allowing the release is such a different feeling than producing a release. Short shots are much easier, trying to ramp up the speed without adding force I find difficult. Pumping legs I know is the key but getting there is tough. My hands roll over much earlier on both the backswing and forward swing.

The key is to stay with a task that will do that for you; see “turbo charge lead hand release” and “turbo charge trail hand release” videos and feel that you are throwing with leg engagement. See also “kinetic chain facilitation series”
keep on it Doug! 👍😀

Jeremy Fuller

Would it be possible to get the fade release in contrast to a draw release in slow motion?

Shawn Clement

Hi Jeremy; great request! In the meantime, the release in the anatomy is the same in both cases but the path and the ball position are such that the timing of the release are different as the snap is more past the ball with the fade and less PAST THE BALL with the draw. If you have to snap at the ball with either one, your grip and club face relationship would be too open to begin with.

This is really weird! I have been working on the face angle that is shown so wonderfully in the position during the downswing for a year! And NO ONE seems to understand that the face is perpendicular to the plane until a few inches before impact!! I call it leading with the hosel, which then really allows the throw! I have a really great drill that helps people understand the benefit of that position!! If you are interested you have my email!!

Shawn Clement

Sounds like a lightbulb moment; would love to see the drill!

Mark Cohn

Yes, it was an aha moment for me as well. It was not until I allowed the face to be more open longer in the downswing that I was able to really throw and release with abandonment. This slow mo confirms that we were on the right track. Thanks for this, Shawn, it really helps to confirm we are on the right track. In fact, I can see now that I actually need to allow a deeper swing before release than I’m doing now. This epiphany came to me just yesterday during a home practice session. I am now able to hit my 6 iron 170yds, 180yds without much effort and even pull of some 190yd shot. Wow! What a pleasure it is to golf like this. I, too, would like to see the drill if you wouldn’t mind emailing to me at [email protected]. Thanks!

Shawn Clement

very good Mark! The drill is very much like what you see here; if you look at Pete Sampras serves in slow motion on youtube, you will see that the racket almost splits the ball in half before delivering it to the service box! 😀👍 Enjoy your blissful shots!

Mark Cohn

Yes I understand now. And I agree with Bruce, all the Slo mos are terrific.

Bruce Shanks

Thanks Shawn, really enjoying the slow-mo👌
