    Hi! It seems like you stay very centered in your swing. Does your weight ever travel to the outside of the left foot (for a righty) during the swing? I struggle with “swaying” and am wondering if this is a good concept (symmetrical action in backswing and downswing/follow through). Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

      Hey Sean! The best series for you to watch are the “walking drill” and the “kinetic chain facilitation series” and as you will see in #6 of that series, and in the walking drill, the weight cannot go to the outside of the feet as this would interrupt the walk! 😀👍

    Hi Shawn i just joined your Eagle premium there are so many videos i don’t know were to start so I started with the grip I’ve seen you videos on YouTube and the hammer video my grip should be good I’ve been a panel beater for 51 years. I’ve used your swing for a couple of weeks hit my driver good i set up for a draw it goes straight but i have all woods 13 down to a 3 having trouble hitting off muddy fairways with them. Most of your videos I’ve watched is with irons is the swing much different to woods my 13 is same length as a 7 iron cheers Steve

      I look forward to our first video analysis where you will send me a couple clips of you hitting one of your fairway woods on these “muddy fairways” you are talking about. Never seen those before. I have seen 13 woods and 11 woods and will be able to guide you to delivering with those as I love hitting fairway woods. But because of the wide sole, there are limitations to the kinds of shots you can hit with those. Let’s do that swing analysis ASAP and get you the path you need to get to your next level. Shawn

    Hi, I wanted to ask how to regulate the action of the wrists. Do you have to keep loose if they are guided by gravity, try to activate them voluntarily on impact like a whip, or try to keep them still in order to get square on impact? Thanks

      Hi Andrea! None of the above! 😀. Take a hammer as an example and focus on delivering a nice compressive blow to drive the nail through the wood; you do not need to think about the wrist but you will notice after the fact that it had good tone and firmness but not so much that it prevents the hinge of the wrist. Same applies to golf, see the “hammer drill” video and feel what it would be like to deliver a nice heavy arm-club unit through the ball compression through the door and out into the target. This happens at 40 million bits of information per second and is impossible to micromanage. So we use easy to execute tasks that relate to golf and we become experts at these tasks.

    Loved the video. My question is regarding the placement of the hands at setup. It looks like in the video your left arm is angled straight to the ball and the right arm completes the small “y”. The hands seem to be just inside the lead leg

      Hi Gregg! See the “hammer drill” video and set up against a door frame to perform the same task and see what that looks like from your perspective. Stay away from body parts positions as our perceptions are different and things get lost in translation ALL THE TIME. But, when it comes to a task, things get sharp fast!😀👍

    Shawn I’m struggling with the amount of closing the face. I know you said you have about a 20° closed face on one of your videos but I don’t know how much to close my face. Is it the same with all clubs? Do I simply close the face and try to see how square the face is by lowering the club to the ball? Also how much body tilt should be applied?

    Hi Shawn! I’m assuming that ulnar deviation takes place as you reach full extension (with both lead and trail hands), then both hands pull back up into finish? It also doesn’t look like you have much flexion or extension, which feels awesome (just allowing the body to do its thing!). Are those both correct? Not something to think about while swinging, but want to ensure I’m maximizing that release! Thanks!

      Hey Sean! You have the right idea yes; the body is in reaction mode when you are using the weight of the arms and club to perform the task; the anatomy of the arms has such a nice reset tone to it when you allow the G-forces to take hold; then when you focus this action into a specific direction through the intermediate point, the brain just knows how to anchor everything into that magical snap into that flight plan. Pure bliss indeed!!👍😀👌💪

    Shawn, Love the Slow Motion! This was pure gold! I noted your grip on the hammer and strengthened my right hand a bit more and it worked great! My release improved greatly! Did drills at home, then took it to the range and eventually the course. Striped it all day long! Biggest problem was I was a bit longer with each club and now I’m not sure about my carry distances. Thank You!

      Hi Jason! Did you see the Driver and driver part 2 videos? Then See “the throwing series” with the driver; then the “arc blur” videos with driver the grass is just longer and you are clipping the tip of the tee with the sole of the club on the way up. Start with that and see how you do!👍😀

      Hi Jeremy; great request! In the meantime, the release in the anatomy is the same in both cases but the path and the ball position are such that the timing of the release are different as the snap is more past the ball with the fade and less PAST THE BALL with the draw. If you have to snap at the ball with either one, your grip and club face relationship would be too open to begin with.

      Hi Chris! When you to to the bottom of the list of videos by date; you will see “grip” and “grip part 2” and then see “grip and arm motion”; that is the one for you. Then see one of my oldies but goodies on youtube called “loaded arms shawn clement” and then see “shawn’s favourite drill” on premium. That grip has to be sound and solid for best results!

    Hi Shawn, I saw your recent video where you demoed the swing caddie pro. I ended up ordering one and tried it for the first time this evening. I really like it and it appears to be a quality product. I was wondering if you had any drills or tasks to use to make sure I get the best out of the device? I surprised myself by being able to make it click consistently at a setting I think was about 125 mph. Any gotchas or bad habits that the device might promote that I need to watch out for? What is the best way to transition the speed trainer to regular clubs? I haven’t hit the range yet so was wondering if you had any recommendations on how to best practice the next time out using the benefits of the device etc.

    On another note I really liked your “wrecking ball” analogy in one of your latest youtube videos. The heave and throw task has really helped me better utilize my kinetic chain while staying bolted and centered and anchored behind the ball. I feel I can engage that “kinetic klutch” much better now (misspelled on purpose ;). That would be another good name descriptor for your method.

    Thanks so much for your help. I’m having so much fun hitting the ball farther and more consistent than ever.

      Great comment here Dave! Thank you so much for taking the time to write as others in our community are going to benefit greatly! The Swing caddy is awesome for feeling how intuitive the generation of g-forces in the swing can be. You just are looking for the click to be past the ball and towards the target about where the intermediate point would be or a bit past that.       So I watched the video and did the drills and then decided to take it to the range since it was a very nice day. All I can say is wow! I hit a gear I didn’t think was possible. I would do 3 or 4 swings with the trainer then I would hit 10 or so balls with the clubs. When I connected well with my driver it looked like nothing I’d ever seen. I was consistently hitting high launch, low spin draws out of the back of the range…300+. My 3 wood ball flight now looks like my driver used to and my 5i ball flight looks like my 5 wood used to…Crazy how that device has just ignited my kinetic chain. I also was able to max out the setting at 135 mph and get 3 clicks in a row. So something is definitely happening. I’m thinking a new gapping session will definitely be in order as I’m guessing my swing speed is at least 10 mph faster if not even faster. I was so surprised I had Very few miss hits. Tendency was to be a bit thin…I did have to weaken my grip a bit on my irons as I was really hitting too strong of a draw on all clubs with my previous club face closure at address. Is that normal? I really feel I am getting through the ball so much better having used the swing caddie pro. Definitely recommend it for anyone who has always felt they should be hitting the ball farther but a short circuit in their kinetic chain (defaulting to ball) or not knowing how to engage the legs has been holding them back.

      Right on Dave! And yes, on the tweaks with irons for club face and or grip. Some of my students need to close more and some less on woods compared to irons. I have one right now that has the biggest spread I have ever seen where irons are very weak and woods are very strong.

    Hi Shawn–checking for accuracy. The goal is to get the club face square through impact in the most powerful position (wrists and arms) anatomically. That would mean the snuff boxes–as in a hammer blow–line up with the square face–dynamically. This looks extremely closed at address, but isn’t dynamically. And if you aren’t closed at address, but square, then you have to hit at the ball to square the club face, leading to early release, lack of power, and inconsistent direction. your direction and power become dependant on the timing of your release versus a natural release through the ball at the target. Therefore–begin with a grip that matches the snuff boxes with the square face, and work on swinging through the ball. the ball is a way point, not an end point. Adjust as needed appropriate for your anatomy, but make sure you are swinging through the way point, or you will be hooking the ball and blaming it on the grip instead having an improper concept of the swing. Or, have I completely lost my mind. Which is entirely possible.

      SPOT ON BILL! 👍😀👌💪 Just the “lining up the snuff boxes to the club face is the only issue as this will change from one individual to the other. Some need to have a ‘STRONGER RELATIONSHIP’ where others less so. The constant factor needs to be the “THROUGH THE BALL’ confirmation of release and then adjust based on that.
