Hey Mark! This means your internet is slow today; must be a lot of online activity in your neck of the woods right now; use the cog wheel in the lower right corner of the video box and choose a lower definition to get the flow back.
Shawn, good video. So if I want to send grass just to the right of the IP and I look from behind the ball out in the distance for a tree or something. The further that tree is away the bigger to the right that seems to be but that is OK? Sometimes like 30 yards right of final target. Is this the right visual? Also, if I heard you right you do adjust your shoulders and feet for the swing to go over that IP to the right, so square to the right of IP, not square to the target? Thanks.
Hi Mike! If this is for a stock draw, you want to aim the flow of momentum straight at the target over the IP, play the ball a smidge back of centre and get behind it which will nudge it slightly to the right of the IP and start the flight about 3 degrees to the right. IT WILL FEEL LIKE IT’S GOING 30 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT. Just do a practice swing above the ball and see the BLUR of club and it should be going just barely right of the IP (the blur from 6 inches coming into and 6 inches going out from the ball)
So the visual from down the line is very different from the visual from beside the ball; see “alignment reload” video
Shawn amazing task!…I hit a bucket of balls 5 days a week… the last 2 days have used the throwing the club task intention and my calves are sore like a good workout just happened without any intention of engaging my legs!… proof the genius of the body knows what to do if you just let the task happen…good contact happens and my trajectory is coming down with more penetrating iron flights….more work to be done but it’s fun work…thank you…
MUSIC TO MY EARS!! Way to go out there and do it! Keep the goldilocks series close to keep predicting that the ball is beautifully in the way of that throw! 😀👍👊💪🫶
shawn ur youtube video u showed where a hip turn is 45 and the spine at 10 or less an shoulders about 20.
the reason I’m bringin this up is I m 71 yr old and have disks in my back that are osteo arthritic and I don’t wanna damage those any further by twisting beyond 45 total.
so I would like to know if u think that trying to go beyond that will do damage just to add a few extra yards
Awesome teaching video. Seeing you work thru the misses was terrific for me. Being patient and listening to what your ‘body” is telling you and letting the adjustment flow.
Sounds ‘trippy” but doing that during practice or warm-up or when in competition is the difference. The alternative can be the opposite, panic and into “fix it mode”.
Hi Shawn. Great concepts for the proper grip. I especially like the alignment aspect… hammering the nail into the door frame. It feels great and powerful. My only issue with this new process is I have a tendency to now hit my irons fat about half the time. I feel like I am not hitting at the ball. That I am swing out to my target but just hitting some fat. Could I be too inside? Or am I releasing too early? Thanks!
Yes, could be! See “fade fine tuning and hit some fades” and also see “how to match backswing to ball direction” to give your backswing the support it needs for the joining of the kinetic chain in the downswing; another cool series is the “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series” #6 being my favourite!
Great! Shawn, I really enjoy how simple you make the swing. I have a tendency to over think and work on positions. I am a former college baseball player and now a 6 handicap but seem to have leveled out and not improving. Looking forward to working with you.
Shawn! These concepts are so amazing and freeing! I have been so tight and ridged with my take away. You need to let me know if you are ever in Florida. I would love to work with you in person. Thanks again!
Right on John! So glad you are enjoying the content! We are doing so well with the online lesson program since 2020; I get to go around the world every week! If you have a nice hitting area, or your range has a good wifi or cell signal, all you need is a tripod for your phone and we are good to go! You are welcome to email me anytime at [email protected] and let me know what part of Florida as I do have John Carroll in Naples at the Talis Park golf club and Jammie Lett often heads down to northern Florida near Jacksonville. Shawn
Shawn, Thanks for replying so quick. I am in Tallahassee just west of Jacksonville. I remember some videos you did maybe last year with Jamie Lett. He is not too far from me here in North Florida. I think initially I will continue to work from your videos and if I am getting stuck, send you a video of my swing for analysis. Really enjoying this premium site. Very well done sir!
Hey Shawn. I was performing the blur over the ball drill today. I noticed that although I addressed the ball in the middle of the club face, as I as was watching the blur, it looked like the heel of the club was moving over the ball. Does this mean I have been standing too close? Any further back and I feel too far away??? Thanks!
Confirm using the goldilocks series distance to ball video; you are always confirming that you will be able to deliver your task through the arc-blur into the direction of flight. Too far and you will feel like you are going to fall forward to keep the club in the arc and too close feels like you will need to hang on. After you deliver a few and can confirm that peak speed was past and through, and you are striking centre clubface, you are good!
I am following along with this video series. But I went back to one of your original off-season video series. And started incorporating one of your gems. I normally work on my draws ( my normal flight ) and fades ( which I am terrible at) by hitting 10-15 draws and then 10-15 fades. But in your older video, you talked about alternating shots. So now I hit 2 draws, then 2 fades. And WOW, I am hitting my fades so much better. I am now ready to try them on the course. Once again thanks for your teaching gems!!!
Hi Shawn! Glad to be back! I was doing this drill today and saw in my video I’m hitting my chin with my left shoulder. In my face on video I do stay behind ball but I feel something wrong throughout swing and think this is what it is. Can you guide me to what video the 20/20 explanation is at? Thanks!!!
WOW OMG!!! Just watched part 8 of your old off-season-training. And your use of the rhythm ribbon. I have always used an intermediate point, but I couldn’t always tell if I was going to the right or left of it. Then I saw your video. Definitely going to get me one. So simple but effective!! Thanks again, Shawn.
Hi Shawn, how should the the shoulders tilt. My local coach told me that when I am aiming right of the intermediate point my shoulder line was way right. He demonstrated the same by placing a club after I took my posture. How do I correct this.
Regards
Hi Lokesh; see the “contact mile markers” and “tilt mile markers” videos; it all has to relate to your ability to perform the task; also see “arc blur unstoppable momentum series”
1-where does it feel like the momentum wants to go at address and where does the low point feel like it will happen? If the shoulders are too closed, it will feel like the low point is behind the ball and the momentum is going too far right.
