    Great video.

    1. My club face is super closed at address as compared to yours. I understand the grip club r/ship or matching it to the swing, had been very regimented with closed face, gonna goldilocks it.
    2. also I want to start raising my front heel during back swing like the way you all do. You told me to do so during vid analysis and I tried but ended up swaying or gouging at the ball. As I have gotten better think its time to revisit.

  • From Lenny Stevens on SLOW MOTION- DRAW

Hi Shawn I had a breakthrough today at the golf range. For some reason I played with hand position at setup and I found that when I go for a draw and have my hands closer to centre but still in front at setup I draw the ball easier and more, with all clubs. And I was striking them so clean. Is there a video about this? Now when I fade I set up with the hands further in front like I normally did as that’s how they sit with your setup when your heads behind the ball. Is this right do you think? What are your thoughts?

      Good stuff Lenny!
look at it PREDICTION WISE; You are set up, you are about to let momentum deliver your task into the direction you want to start the ball; you want to feel that when you let this happen, that the ball will start on the line you want it to and curve in the air the way you want it to as well; if the set up you have allows you to do this, you are good! 😀👍

  • From amarjot Bedi on Target Focus Confirmation Series

    Hi Shawn,
have realized it takes time and patience to build a good swing.
I have managed to find tasks for my Fw, Hybrids, wedges and to an extent with the driver and putter. They are my go to anchors when over a shot.

Not so with irons. Some days I feel I can do no wrong and some days just come away frustrated.

One of my first comments I wrote on one your youtube videos, that your hinge is so apparent during your back swing and mine I cannot feel it as had been taught to take the club straight back on a rail track.

Ever since I saw this video, “Hinge after 8 and re hinge after 4”. Combined with grass shavings to the direction or bottom of club cutting grass left or right of IP (this is most imp) has been my light bulb moment in the irons.

Two days of practice and a round of golf today, EVEN hitting my 4 iron flush consistently.

It has also increase my distance, 8 iron 165-170y with a majestic ball flight.

What I am struggling with :-

    1. Earlier I was hitting big draws with medium ball flight. Now soft draws but many shots go high and true but start and stay right of target, beautiful shots but 10 yards right of the IP. Experimenting with club face open and closed.
    2. Re- hinge, as I did not hinge during back swing ( if I did it happened without me being aware of it), my focus is on hinging after 8 ( finding my sweet spot) now either I can remember to rehinge or cut grass shavings in the direction right of IP (for a draw).

If I concentrate on rehinging, I start the ball left and hit a draw, but 10-15 yards left of target , and if I concentrate on grass shavings, ball stays right basically the shot I described in 1. point.

  • From Frank Zoff on PREPARE TO LET GO WITH DRIVER!

Hey Shawn, loving the premium site and the progress I’m making. One thing I’ve noticed with the driver is that i am really struggling with moving my upper body and head forward to start the driver downswing. I’ve been trying to focus on throwing the club out to the target and no strain at the top and it helps at times but it’s been years of this bad habit and its hard to break. Any advice on a set of drills I can do to unlearn this bad habit. I think i associate power with lunging forward instead of just unwinding around my head. Its almost like a need a better trigger to start the downswing that keeps me behind the ball but still feels powerful.

Hey Frank! See the “hammer throw driver” and “arc-blur unstoppable momentum series” which has a driver view as well; MAKE SURE YOUR ALIGNMENT IS PROPER as I have seen so many swing issues coming from alignment too far right so see “alignment reload” and line up 30 yards left and then swing towards the target and see what happens; you will see the opposite effect of the upper body.

Hi Shawn, I joined up yesterday. I just wanted to say how impressed I am with your teaching and your concepts… not to mention yours and Savy’s swings! My fiancé just started golfing a couple of weeks ago, and we are both going to go all-in on your material to start her off on the best possible path. Savy has inspired her greatly :).

I’m currently about a 13 handicap… keen to go low with your guidance! Will be in touch soon for some 1 on 1 lessons and video analysis for both of us.

    Hi Shawn,
this is the best video I have seen on the grip and what is suppose to happen as in the purpose of the grip. The real nugget for me is the right hand grip being almost at a 45 degree angle but i am struggling with the 2 pads analogy. can you help me with this.

  • From Colm Marren on How to Start the Swing

    Hi Shawn.

I’m a beginner (less than one year) struggling most with thin/topped shots, pulls to the left, and feeling tense/tight when swinging (swing thoughts, overthinking)

Which videos would you most recommend to remedy those issues?

    • From Shawn Clement on How to Start the Swing

Hello Colm! Good stuff! Please see the “Task 2.0 series” and then see “alignment reload” and “blur of club” and the “arc-blur unstoppable momentum series. We also have a fantastic “beginner series” which is not the typical series that you may have seen in the past! Looking forward to your feedback!

Do you recall if the putting study was one of Debbie Crews, PhD from ASU?

I don’t think that one was hers; it was a pair of individual scientists; but the one she did for golf digest where the brain scans for the amateur who was “thinking mechanics on putting” which showed big reg chaotic blotches in the left brain vs the pro who was “target and feet focus” which showed calm and “synchronized” the (word she prefers instead of the zone)

Hi shawn, someone pointed out my shoulders face way left at setup. When I see you you are closed but your shoulders dont look closed like mine do.
Why I ask is my consistency is lacking , lots of pushes that don’t come back or pulls. Happens more with drivers or FWs.

    • From Shawn Clement on Top 3 Tasks

Your shoulders will be more turned at the top of the backswing right? There will Always someone making comments about body parts in this game. What is the flight plan, then match the set up, make your predictions, deliver your momentum into the direction you want to start the ball, observe. Pay special attention to the goldilocks series and ask yourself: When I deliver my task with momentum into the direction it feels like it wants to go, will the ball start that way and curve in the air the way I want it to? Then you must STAY WITH IT. Then you get to learn. If 3 of them started right and you felt the momentum went that way, and it stayed straight, then you either have to aim the whole structure more left or close the face more and confirm you are feeling a nice full release! Please don’t listen to the untrained eye btw…

    • From amarjot Bedi on Top 3 Tasks

Hi shawn, to be honest, I think they maybe right. It started with trying to bump towards target like sav does, but I started to stand too much over my front leg, with weight all over the foot. In an endeavor to be more on the inside of the foot, I turn a little inwards along with the bump. So now my whole body is closed and I am drawing everything. Will send you my this months video.
So its not my swing, I have confused myself in the setup itself.
Have started watching all the basic videos again, braced tilt, bolted and centered, over the ball etc.

The best remedy for this is the walking drill Baba; get really good at that and then take it to the kinetic chain facilitation series. When on one leg drill, the weight is on the inside of the lead foot, not on top. When both feet are on the ground, both legs MUST SHARE SUPPORT OF THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY OF THE BODY. See also “feet together back to feet apart”

Loved the video Shawn. Is there a routine video that one can follow. If I get an hour everyday, and I want to hit darts with my irons, I still end up practicing my pitch shots and chips and hit a few iron shots.
If I want really improve with my irons, should I be just hitting Irons for a few weeks? 15% improvement would be a dream come true.

My favorite series is the “arc blur unstoppable momentum series” for irons and we have a special series coming out next week that will run the winter for off season training with the best neurological information in the world; the most accelerated program for golf ever designed! Can’t wait to bring it to you guys!!

    Hi Shawn,
Super relaxed, super slow , super wide, is it for practice or permanent (actually playing golf).

What you hit at around 10 mins “too much effort”, is exactly my irons, woods, and driver misses… Ditto! Thought it was ball position or face, now thinking it could be straining and effort!

  • From [email protected] on CLARITY SERIES- DRIVER

I am playing catch up on watching these videos. It has been very informative to see you take Eli through all the clubs with your program. I felt like I was right there with Eli getting the benefit of first hand guidance. My biggest take away was how simple it is to take your brain away from the task. When you said even thinking about hitting a straight shot is a manipulation, a light bulb finally came on!! I had the best day with the driver ever while trusting your set up instructions and then just letting it go. This old lumber jack no longer has the range of motion that your young lumber jack Eli has, but the guidance is still pure gold! Smiling all the way to the clubhouse! Thanks Shawn!!

  • From Krista Nabb on LEVERAGE IN RELEASE - OFF SEASON TRAINING (4)

Have I figured something out or not – I’m starting to use my body to bring the club around, almost like I’m not doing anything with my arms/hands, until I get down to the ball, then I can accelerate and throw out to my target. It’s more or less how it feels, I want to say something I’ve heard before – passive hands. Anywho, It’s a weird feeling, like if I try to do it, I release excitedly at the ball, if I let the club fall and whip through, it feels amazing but there’s a massive timing situation that is new to me, I’ve been struggling to reproduce this swing once there’s a ball there as well, lol. Hello to you, Sav and Mu.

Hey Krista! Yes, this is what it feels like when you let the kinetic chain come through; the key is let the arms fall past you into a nice release (passive) into the direction you want to start the ball. You saw “important release update” right? That feel is what you want to allow past the intermediate point when the arms pass you by; use the PMD to feel the release in both directions and you will start to feel that the squat of the legs and hip turn engage and pull the arms and club through into that snap release out there.
