I do 3 sets of 15, 8lb sledge hammer swings as part of my swing speed training. Helps with brace feeling, tempo, use of legs… also I think it helps me do ‘cut the grass’ task way better…… helps with tracking arc on non-dominant side too.

I used two gloves so I may miss the feeling of support between right index finger and right thump so I am using only one left hand glove now . Will this structure help getting the correct backswing at top also ?
The head is the anchor and what anchors the head is the gliding around the tilt and pre turn of it through the arc blur into the direction of flight. Swing stays on path with low point intact, head stays put and this anchors the snap release into the direction of flight.
This is gold coach! The more i focus on the area after the ball and confirming I experience that part of the swing, the better the contact gets. Predicting contact is super important for me!
Whats the best way to feel this in the short game? When I have a second pendulum I have my job of getting the second pendulum in position to cut through for me, what’s your favorite task to experience this on chips and pitch shots?

Something clicked in my practice today and it brought me back here
I took 10 shots, grading myself 1-10 of being able to see the blur of my club through impact and seeing it arc back around on the lead side.
My only job was to watch the swing. The correlation to well struck shots to a higher level of awareness of the club. If my only job was to watch the club hit the ball, and I deeply commit to that (just seeing it happen), the better I actually saw impact and post impact, the better the strike was
I’ve always lost the blur in my full swing, I see it fine in my practice swings. Then I never see the club in the swing (full, chip or putt)
I got one of those putting thing training aids as well. Did some putting drills. On a setting where my best score was a clean 11/20 I got 17/20 today. Super cool, a lot of what you say makes so much more sense now.
I may not have been positional, but I was consciously thinking of using my legs, or getting out of the way etc. But if I can swear on my mothers life that I just witnessed the blur club go through the ball and out towards the target, then it’s a successful swing form now.
Here is something better: the full pre shot routine written down: 1-Best option for shot
2 rules: 1-Release into safe direction; never release towards trouble and draw or fade away from trouble; this puts unnecessary tension in the system with the “you better make sure you do this or that to not go there”
2-No strain required to execute your shot; understand that you have 2 general yardages per club; one for the flush shot and one for the good miss about 12 yards short of the flush shot. The good miss happens 82% of the time and the flush shot 18% of the time. This helps determine what club to use based on where the best place to miss will be.
2-Once the shot option is chosen, confirm the flight plan-what line do you want to start the ball and what line do you want to end? (include roll out)
3-Choose intermediate point; can be straight on or slightly off line, as long as it’s easy to see and well into your peripheral vision (6 to 12 inches in front of ball only)
4-Confirm alignment of momentum-get ready to see the blur of the path of the club and match it to the ball and intermediate point and prepare to make the ball a PRECISE INTERSECTION on the way through the IP into the flight plan!
5-Confirm ball position matches the flight plan and the direction you want to start the ball.
6-Confirm distance to ball and see that when you let momentum ride through the blur through ball and IP that you don’t feel the need to reach out from being too far or hold on from being too close and you can let it ride
7-Confirm Grip club relation; see that you know it will curve the way you want to in the air once you allow the momentum to release you through the arc-blur into the flight plan through ball and IP
8-Confirm levels and low point with relaxed and engaged legs; legs are ready to heave the arms and club into the backswing that would match the direction of the flight plan; and feels like you are ready to allow that solid dose of momentum to ride through the arc-blur through the ball, the low point of the swing and IP into that flight plan
9-Ready? See the arc-blur already moving through ball and intermediate point? You are feeling the arms and club already tracking the arc through the ball and intermediate point into a nice release snap and the body already gliding out of the way of these tracking arms. What does that feel like again? Witness the shot that is being played out for you; you have done your homework and it’s time to get out of the way and let it happen with full abandon; the glue that holds EVERYTHING together is the letting the swing stay with the direction of flight and fully witness momentum taking care of that for you.
I have been doing this drill daily. I really like how down the line you always look like the “jackknife “ coming into the ball. I, however, have always felt like I need to hit or make something happen coming into the ball. I know I cannot control gravity and need to focus on my flight plan and arc blur to overcome my hit instinct, but, nothing is smooth and effortless and contact is inconsistent. I’m studying video 1…at 5min…don’t let left arm hit you going back, and don’t let right arm hit coming through…pls confirm, this is substantial, and prevents an “armsy” (and inside) takeaway. At 11min, he comes too inside, and the fix is hitting below red (changing path and shot shape and direction)…if Dr. wanted to hit right of green box, he may have the same inside takeaway issue, unless he thinks (does) “don’t crash arms against body”…is my assessment correct? and then, some magic at 13min…i think so many of us do this…awesome to catch it in the video. My take is that bc the shot is so short, and path is more in to out, its easy to be armsy and bring the club inside on the takeaway (im wondering if you agree that he did this at 13min)…and when the path changes to more out to in, (like what happened at 11min), it forces more of the shoulder turn (less armsy).
I think that this topic is huge for me…i think that i can be too armsy on my takeaway, and it can cause my dangerous heel shots. Perpetual motion helps me be less armsy…the challenge is coming off the static setup.

Thank you for the recommended videos, Shawn. I spent time watching closely and listening carefully. I also practiced a little of the 20-40-60, and found it enlightening…staying wide, and thinking about the sledgehammer, turning my body, and getting it out of the way….lots of great feels with this…I’ll be doing a lot more of this work.
And the hinge…”backswing masterclass”…2min 40sec….”fanning it open”…this is exactly what I was concerned with!

I bat left handed, throw right handed , but there is NO WAY I can golf right handed. How does that work?
Incidentaly my basketball shot form is much better shooting lefthanded, and i am left eye dominant
But how do you golf righty? I started out batting rh, had trouble with it, saw a left handed kid, emulated him, hit a double, never looked back. It’s just that any semblance of golfing rh is gone. Did you have trouble with your swing at first? Now that you golf righty, can you bat RH?
PS the instruction has been super helpful! I’m finally able to strike the ball with some consistency, confidence is coming along. I worked with an engineer last summer who introduced me to your method (20 40 60).

never tried baseball right handed, I am left hand dominant so should be ok. I started right handed out of necessity as none of my uncles or aunts had lefty clubs. So I always wondered about that until I got my first set of Bob Charles clubs from Dunlop!
I’m eager to get back on the course with this lesson and the posture lesson. While I have been bending at the waist, I feel I haven’t been bending enough at the knees. I was doing this more the last several holes of my round yesterday and played hit the ball much more solid.
