Hi Shawn, your comment to Dr. Jeremy about keeping your awareness on the shoulder getting out of the way got me thinking. On a full backswing; feeling that you are pulling your arm/club unit towards your release with your lead shoulder is good or bad? The end results is a complete turn of my upper body with my head staying behind the ball and my arm/club unit just being along for the ride. I can’t say anything about my ball flight or contact since I’m just swinging my golf clubs on a carpet in my garage. I have a mark on it for the ball.
I think tht as long as the end result is your focus is on where the release is going to be in order for the ball to start on the line of it’s intended flight! Of you feel that the kinetic chain engages and the arm-club unit is pulled theough into that release; I say good job!
Understood. For now all my focus is on were I want my release to be. The difficult part will be to keep that focus this summer with a ball in the way, water on the right and out of bound on the left 😬
Sean you have a problem, or I have a problem with the rhythm Series. Because the first and second video stops before two minutes Have finished on my phone. Do you have a problem or do I have a problem ?Please reply.
Depends on the traffic of your internet at the tome of day; you just need to let it buffer a minute or 2 before you can continue; they don’t have the same feature as youtube where they would drop to a much lower quality for the sake of continuing playback; Shawn
I think this might be the drill I need. Even with the driver, I get a ton of backspin. My current assumption is that I have too much of a descending blow…
Hi Shawn,
From the starting position It looks like you place the clubhead about a half an inch to an inch behind the ball when hitting a fade. Is that correct?
I have trouble hitting a fade. It either goes straight where I aim or I double cross.
When I double cross I guess I’m defaulting to the ball instead of the target.
Correct! Ball default definitely results in over fades and double crosses;
Also, and this one is important, the intermediate point on a fade should be very close, nice and cozy and stay in that direction back and through!
Looks like they were lost in the shuffle in the new website; Matt is away on a well deserved vacation and we will be uploading the music again next week;
In the meantime, check out this video I did with Drumming legend, Peter Appleyard Jr.
Hey Shawn great job as always! I have a question about backswing and velocity. If you want to any club to its maximum distance is you velocity at that point of somewhat strained velocity? I understand that the timing of the release is critical to distance with less strain, just looking for clarification if getting maximum distance from any club still means using maximum velocity.
My apologies if this is not clear.
Love my subscription, your approach has made this game so vey enjoyable!
I love watching these lessons. Nobody breaks down the intricate details like you. I was hitting a little heavy, I watched the lesson and realize I wasn’t throwing enough now all is well, until the next thing, ha ha ha. Winter rust. Good to know you’re there.
I’m nearly 78, and I carry a nine, eleven and thirteen woods in my bag. Should I change to Hybrids? When I use these clubs, should my ball position be different than the hybrid you demonstrated?
Hey Ranny! Only if you are having issues; I have seen this before and those clubs can actually do a very nice job! Never buy anything without trying them; you want them to feel easy to swing and love the sound and feel that comes off of them; Shawn
I appreciate very much to see this lesson. You mentioned a lot of mistakes I do myself. A question to the setup of Mr. Hall: It seems to me that he has very little body-tilt to the right and his head is perpendicular to the ground and not turned 15 degrees to the right and 15 degrees to the ground as you advocate it. Didn’t you correct it because it is not so important as the other points are.
I believe that Lydia Ko has lost her target focus. It is astonishing to watch her play ‘army’ golf. You can tell that her mind is wandering to the various little parts of the swing. Especially when she is rehearsing swing positions on the tee. If my amateur eye can see it then it must be glaring to you. She has hit a million balls for each club in her bag so that great swing is still in there. Shawn, you should give her a call, she could use some WIG !
So simple it is incomprehensible to them! Everyone is brainwashed to the fact that “we are defective and need to be fixed” where this way of thinking would not apply to gardening, lumberjacking, carpentry etc…
We have a lot of work to do out there and we are all going to work as a team to get golf out of this funk!
Shawn, do you see the Dr’s rhythm and tempo improve during his PMD before he swings as a result of just letting the ACU’s mass create a passive full range of motion stretch from end to end?
This series is one of the best for Wisdom in Golf. I think this will lead alot of people to the premium channel.
The description of the levitation has really gotten the point across and how it connects to the Kinetic chain. Great job!!!!!
Shawn what are your thoughts on The Tour Tempo book and app for beats to improve timing, I use it and it helps, or is there something better you recommend?
Ok…so the question that I wrote earlier that I did not even understand 🙂 was answered with the “extra 15%” in the levitation. That has produced the “POW” for me. Now it is time to work on making that a habit!
