When you cannot locate an intermediate point . It was interesting to hear your observation on having difficulty finding a clear , easy to keep track of IP . You went to a Plan B , using your logo . I am assuming you try to orient your ball logo to the direction you want to be swinging the club , just as if it were your in the turf IP .
Beautiful Course. Great Bunker shot! Just one question. I live in Georgia, USA. How is that you have a few gulls on your course and I have 30 or more Canada Geese that leave little gifts on the greens? Just sayin. Seems backwards. 🙂
Hey Lynn!
Just saw this comment; must have slipped into my junk email;
We are right on the St-Laurence Seaway; you will see on the map that right after Quebec city, the river gets VERY WIDE; and we actually have tides here; so it is almost the ocean about 30 minutes away!
As for the geese, they need to open up the hunting season for those big time, in Toronto, they are every corner!
I’m still on the grass whip. I gave the concept a try in thick rough swinging a wedge. However, I changed the task from hitting a ball to just cutting grass and varied the focus on depth. (half cut or along the ground) I also tasked myself to cut a large area thereby creating an ‘all day’ mindset. The first set of swings seemed to cut okay but required more effort than I thought it would. After many more swings, I noticed on the back swing that my left hand started to push down on the handle while using my right hand as a fulcrum. It felt like I was making the club weightless and giving it into a toss. Once weightless and the back swing momentum slowed, the whole unit just wanted to fall through the cut. This entire ‘weightless’ maneuver was not contrived, it happened naturally. Kind of like the body saying “Hey clown, if you are going to do this all day, we need a better way.” A self preservation thing. I just want to make sure that I am on the right path before I try to ingrain this move into my swing. Your help is always appreciated.
Very cool feedback here Jon; you could have written a chapter in our book with this one!👍😀👊
Do you feel that you are getting more velocity in the whip with less effort?
Really appreciate these on course Vlogs and play. I’ve always been about choosing a club to get as much distance with each shot. Will be changing strategy from this point on to one which is “smarter” to achieve that end result of lowering my score. Thanks Shawn.
I want to draw the ball. I am right hander. So I close the clubface then do I position my feet to the right and hit to the right but is the clubface facing to the right or where I want the ball to land. Thanks Geoff
Thanks for that info. watching the Working the ball video I noticed that when you actually setup to hit the golf ball, with ball behind center then you close the face, as you then put the club face behind the ball it appears that the face is open. I suppose that is just an illusion? I have only just started following your lessons and I am 36 handicap. First game with it just looking at my grip and chipping. Usually in a field of 100 players I am about 10th from the bottom but this time I was only 2 points from 1st place with 41 points and a wipe on one hole. looking forward to improving Thanks Geoff
Yes, the face is still closed to the path at this point which is now going more to the right;
You are now in your rightful home of golf evolution; great to have you here and looking forward to your next mile stone!
Shawn
To draw you want to line up parallel to where you want the ball to END; like if you were hitting a so called straight shot there. Then you play the ball a bit back of center and close the face; then you feel a nice throwing whip in the direction you want to start the ball. See the “chronological video list” and go back to the “working the ball” video
The flight scope generated path arc seems to clearly indicate the low point on the draw swing is well in front of the ball but more or less at the ball with the fade (i.e., lower angle of attack). What adjustments are needed to control the height of the shot?
Draw set up + fade grip = low push fade?
Also, and this one continues to confuse me, assuming you have right grip for the shot (appropriately closed when in neutral) does it matter how open or closed or square it is at address (i.e., how you rotate the arm club unit)?
I am new to the sight, have been using rotary swing, top speed golf and my local golftec, too many positions and thoughts. This makes so much more sense. I love the feel of the the heavy rope drill. So times, however, I find myself lowering in the backswing which makes stepping in the forward swing difficult. I would appreciate your insight. I would also like to know how to send you video and if there are any 3 day or weekend clinics I could attend or how you schedule lessons
Hi Joe!
My apologies for what is going on in the golf industry right now; very sad state of affairs for sure but we are working our buns off to change this!
I will be in New Jersey and Connecticut Sept 20-24 and Dallas-SanAntonio from October 18-22
Then LA Phoenix at the end of November
I can also do an online lesson with a skype of Facetime 30 minutes for just 59.00; email me at [email protected]
Hi Finn!
No, not much! The only reason why you would have a little bit less with the wedge is that the width of the stance is a little bit narrower; which will not allow you to brace and tilt as much as the 7;
Shawn
Appreciate all you do. Are you coming to Dallas this fall. I’m really looking forward to continuing my improvement and could always use a look and insight from you…
Been looking for you all summer! I had some students for you and we could not reach you!
Saw you sent me an email; yes I will be in Dallas October 20-21
I am interested in October in San Antonio and or Dallas, can I get some more specific information if there is still availability. I am in Toledo, Ohio and would have to arrange flights
