Great seeing the Flightscope data. I’ve had trouble with pulling the ball right, being a leftie, when trying to draw. From the data and ball positioning, I need to be more than a “hair” back and AIM at the target not left of target……I think that’s what your saying for the draw?

As I was quite alone at the golf course this evening, I played a 9 hole round where I did one or two swings with the grass whip prior to each full shot. I will do it again for sure! When I managed to feel the same weight shift with the golf club as I did with the grass whip, I hit excellent shots with heavy momentum! Oh yeah! For some reason I keep my balance much better with the grass whip, that with the golf clubs.. Maybe because there is no ball to hit? lol 🙂
As always… great video. When you say you have a one club to a one and a half club wind I’m assuming the wind is behind you . I can’t hit my irons that far so what I do is I take my highbred and throw it as high as I can in hopes the ball will land soft on the green . Is that the correct mind thought?

Hi Linda! Hybrids are clubs that hit the ball high in the first place so yes, I like that strategy; throwing the club on the trajectory you want the ball to peak on is a great visual and it tends to help you set up the ball position well;
For those of you who have not thrown the club yet; try to organise an early morning or late afternoon on the course when nobody is around and practice throwing low-high-medium heights to a specific direction; then see the “predict contact” video to put that throw together with the ball in the way; then you will understand how to instinctively do what Linda is saying.
The pin takes up quite a bit of the hole and instead of seeing the ball hit the pin and bounce out, you want to see the ball roll into the hole at the speed you want to have it go in; way better for your touch when you see it properly before you take the shot; Shawn
I received my grass whip. I have no problem cutting the grass, cutting through tees and under balls . Appears to my eye that the toe is touching the ground and not the entire whip.
Shawn, every time I watch your lessons, I learn something new and/or you remind me something that you teach previously. My daughter and I like this penny drill a lot. We can’t say enough thank you to you!
Hi Shawn I can feel the release of the club in both directions with the trail hand only and lead hand only but when I get both hands on the club I lose the feel of the release , where am I going wrong ? Cheers
Shawn, What was the key element in your swing that decreased the spin rate by 1000 rpm,,,,yielding a significant difference in distance for the same club head speed?
G’day Shawn. Can you clarify a point I continue to hear on WIG and that’s to do with the release.
I’ve think I’ve heard you say, release into your target, release in the direction you want the ball to go and release in the direction you want the ball to start. I’ve had problems pulling the ball and I’m starting to think I should be releasing in the direction I want the ball to start not at the target. Cheers….
Exactly!! See “throw the club straight shawn clement” and “why you can’t line up properly shawn clement” and the working the ball videos on premium;
THE INTERMEDIATE POINT YOU TAKE ONLY ONE FOOT OR LESS IN FRONT OF THE BALL, is to be used to guide your release, or snap that you are letting the weight of the club perform for you.
The “TARGET” is the “FLIGHT PLAN” of the ball that starts where you want it to, then curves to the side and up to peak at the height you want it to, then falls and lands where you want it to and then rolls to the end point. FULL PICTURE. Practice this on the range:
1-pick an “end target” or a place you want to have the ball end up
2-pick a flight plan that fits your ability to get the ball there
3-find an intermediate point that will set you up into that picture-so that when you let the weight of the club release you to the target, you can predict that the ball position, the distance to the ball, the posture, and the grip-club face relationship will fit the flight when you let the club track itself into the direction you want to start the ball.

4-set up done? Prediction of shot done? It is now OUT of YOUR CONTROL, just give control to gravity and let the weight of the ACU release itself in the direction you want to start the ball. Look for the feel of that low effort and nice whipping velocity that unleashes that ball into that flight with freedom and abandon!
5-DID YOU LET IT? DID you stay with the feel of that release to that direction? Or did you get distracted by “making sure” of a position or something else making noise around you?
If you stayed with it: how was the direction? how was the contact? How was the balance? How was the strain level?
If you did not stay with it, something short circuited you and you were trying to do something else; what was that you were trying? What were your concerns?
6-The most important stat in golf is how many times (there are average 36 full swings on the golf course) were you able to stay with your shot all the way to the finish? Can You CONFIRM WITHOUT A DOUBT THAT YOU felt the release of the club in the direction you wanted to start the ball?
How we approach each shot and execute into the picture; once we are out there, it is all about the task and the feel of the task to deliver in the direction we want the ball to start;

Thanks Shawn and Matt. I got a lot from this. Golf is more than just slogging a ball as far as you can at the range. The finesse, the mental attitude and the calmness required to approach each shot as a unique task is so important to improving your score; which is the essence of the game. Confidence in what you want achieve with each shot (into that picture) will grow the more your prediction process is affirmed. Can’t wait to see more of these. Cheers guys.
