Shawn – since I’ve been grooving a draw with every club, I find it hard to hit a fade any more. In this video, I understand alignment to the left and swing path to the left, but I’m not sure if you are still aiming the face of the club towards the target or holding off a bit at contact to impart a left to right spin. I’m trying to hit that high baby-fade that will sit down quietly. Thank you!
Hi Rob! See “fade fine tuning” video; it has a lot of great info to help; you can’t go about it thinking statically at address; you aim left and whip the momentum with ease left with the ball a hair forward of centre; then adjust face and grip until you get the flight you need and make sure you pick the height of the shot too!
I want to draw the ball. I am right hander. So I close the clubface then do I position my feet to the right and hit to the right but is the clubface facing to the right or where I want the ball to land. Thanks Geoff
To draw you want to line up parallel to where you want the ball to END; like if you were hitting a so called straight shot there. Then you play the ball a bit back of center and close the face; then you feel a nice throwing whip in the direction you want to start the ball. See the “chronological video list” and go back to the “working the ball” video
Thanks for that info. watching the Working the ball video I noticed that when you actually setup to hit the golf ball, with ball behind center then you close the face, as you then put the club face behind the ball it appears that the face is open. I suppose that is just an illusion? I have only just started following your lessons and I am 36 handicap. First game with it just looking at my grip and chipping. Usually in a field of 100 players I am about 10th from the bottom but this time I was only 2 points from 1st place with 41 points and a wipe on one hole. looking forward to improving Thanks Geoff
Yes, the face is still closed to the path at this point which is now going more to the right;
You are now in your rightful home of golf evolution; great to have you here and looking forward to your next mile stone!
Shawn
Fence is a nice visual aid to show both alignment and flight path of fade and draw.
It is isn’t it? Fun place to practice!
