The feet together drill is probably one of the best golf drills ever – it has helped me tremendously. The drill take care of the centering aspect as well as the catapult concept. I have never seen this drill on the regular golf learning channels, this is very strange in my mind…
Feet together is feeling so comfortable now I try to keep my stance as narrow as possible feet apart. It will force the hips to turn without thinking about it.
You bet Jimmy! The reason why feet together never worked with other methods is that they were RESISTING in the backswing and not ALLOWING THE BUTT TO SWIVEL and not allowing the legs to extend.
We have done our homework and you are blessed with Gravity genius; enjoy! 😀👍
While performing a complete golf swing should I be aware of the motion (weight) of the club as it travels through space to the finish position? When performing the throwing exercises should I maintain a consistent spine angle as if I were over the ball swinging towards a target?
Hi Dave!
It is impossible to feel the weight of the club everywhere in the swing as when it gets to the top of the backswing, it is weightless! But you can bet the house on gravity as it will always bring everything back down! 😀👍
As for posture, that would be a no-don’t worry about it as the gluts and legs when engaged, are needed to throw the club when allowed and NOT THINKING ABOUT THEM.
The machine you own has a 40 million bit per second processor and is a flipping genius at tasks like throwing! 😀👍😉
Hi Shawn I work on out of the way as a thought in my takeaway/backswing but I don’t crash Or get out of the way as you teach by swiveling my hips unfortunately i simply lift up to give my arms room resulting in a flat inside swing what can I do task wise or thought wise to move the legs to give the arms room as opposed to lifting up out of posture to give the arms room thanks
Do you consider throwing the club a task? Or is it something you try and pair with a hammer or cutting the grass task? I have a hard time thinking of both at the same time.😂
Yes, super deluxe task!
You are throwing the club in the direction you want to start the ball AND YOU PREDICT THAT THE STEM OF THE DANDELION IS IN THE WAY IF YOU DO! That way, you get to have your cake and est it too! 🤛😀😎
Thanks, I think I finally figured out how to have both focuses. I stand behind the balls, pick a Target and a flight. Take a practice swing feeling the hammer while really focusing on the target. Focus on the target the whole time setting up to the ball, feel the hammering task to the target, and then swing. It’s more of a focus to the target and then think about the task right before the swing. I was too focused on the ball and door frame.
I note that on your finish at the end of swing your left leg is amost perfectly straight. Do you have a drill that helps me acieve this. When I finish, I my left leg is still slightly flexed so it may indicate to me that I annot rransferring my weight completly.
This could very well be it!! 😀👍
Feet together-cannot lift the right foot-gives the feel of the anchor
Feet apart and no release of the right foot-forces the left hip to return behind you and this is what will give you the Matt Wolff clearing to the target!
Then let the right foot come up at the very end only after you have released in the direction you want to start the ball.
Great stuff Shawn I can do the perpetual motion drill but then I freeze over the ball and then lift up in the backswing any more thoughts videos or swing triggers I feel like this is the missing piece for me thanks
I am a fan of how you teach to learn feelings in a golf shot and looking into the bigger picture to allow the human body to design the shot, this for sure is the best way to learn golf. This has significantly improved my game.
However, i do want to request that during your ball position video in which you are teaching about draw and fades if you can highlight with dark prominent colors or logos on your wall about targets, that would be beneficial because currently i cant see where the keep out sign or wet paint or trees are in your target wall.
Looking forward to finish following your entire video training lessons.
Hi Adeel! Yes, we address that in future videos; you can always identify my intermediate point just in front of my ball when seeing the swing from down the line; super important!
Keep going! You are going to enjoy the journey down the Rabbit hole and appreciate movies like “a week in Utopia”. Which is a nice Golf Movie with Robert Duval.
Shawn
Great video and just what I’ve been working on this week! I feel like when the feet together backswing causes my legs to straighten, I often have trouble getting back down to the same leg bend on the downswing causing me to either be too high or too low. Any advice? Thanks.
When you come back down, it is because you stayed on task and needed the ground to deliver the shot to the target. See “throwing the club” video on premium.
When you are focused on throwing to the target, you will come back down to the ground to engage the kinetic chain, so see the 7 part series on kinetic chain too, it is fun!
When you stay up, it is because you need to stay up to hit AT THE BALL, or if you are being careful NOT TO MISS THE BALL.
TO SEE THE LEVEL OF COMMITMENT TO A SHOT, see the hammer throw in track and field, talk about staying with something because your life and others, depends on it! My favourite is Yipsi Moreno
Great question!
Not during the whole movement; you don’t want to feel like you are resisting the backswing’s kinetic chain.
As you get to the top of the backswing, they feel the pressure hit the left ankle, use this pressure to brace the head from moving forward and let the swing glide around that axis through to the high finish.
Thanks Shawn, this one continues to be my homework for the month. Very tough to stay away from that 40 bits per second thinking; gurus and mystics have been trying to for millenia!
Swing to left edge of intermediate point to hit driver fade? I feel like I will either hit a draw or a huge draw. I can’t visually paint the picture to swing at to hit a fade.
