HELP!!!!!! Earlier in the year I battled toe contact. All of a sudden the last two days I’m making contact towards the heel. You can’t play that way.

I’m not sure what changed all of a sudden. I was working on trying to get the driver to draw more 2 nights ago.

I’ve tried all of the things that I thought it could be:
    distance to ball
    alignment
    ball position
I still feel like I’m focused on the target and not the ball.

I take some toe contact immediately!!!!

Use the “predict contact” video and set up in a way that if you throw the club towards the direction you want to start the ball, That you feel that you will cut through the stem with the toe part of the blade.

This is a critical focus for me at the moment. I seem to have the grip, posture, gathering, and collecting while gripping the ground piece working (for the most part). However, getting the glutes and quads engaged through the swing seems to want to pull my head and upper body forward a bit too much resulting in a pull to the left. Any ideas or drills to work on this? By the way….. great insights and love the kinetic chain videos. This really fixed a lot of parts in my game. Thanks.

Man, looks like I mossed this one; very sorry! The videos you want to see for this are the “feet together back to feet apart” and “pumping up the swing”

Good morning Shawn I’ll be 75 this week 11 hcp low 80s driver swing speed. I’m a bit lost in a sea of video instruction Could you please suggest a sequence of 4-6 of your videos. In addition do u review a videotape of my swing with subsequent suggestions? If so where would I send. Thanks Karl

Great video! I was just working on this piece with the driver in the backyard. Question on the heel coming off the ground. I noticed that it helps to get the weight shift forward when I pull with the front part of the lead foot, while pushing with the ground on the trailing foot. Does this sound right? Also… It appears that you are saying to either lift the lead heal, or use the squat. Is there any reason why you wouldn’t do both and use the lead foot to help the weight shift?

When you mentioned “you start feeling uncomfortable over a certain shot” – this is EXACTLY what happens to me. At my home course yesterday – hole 16 is a 430yard dogleg left to an elevated green and I can never ‘see’ how my drive is supposed to fly here.

I may be playing 3 or 4 over until i reach this hole – and it doesn’t matter how well I’m driving the ball on the first 15 holes – but when i get to this hole – my brain doesn’t work. It’s like it short circuits and i suddenly DON’T KNOW HOW to hit my driver.

Yesterday, I actually almost missed the ball!!

I really have a hard time understanding this concept.

Means you have the WRONG OPTION!! Name 3 more ways to play the hole to make a par or bogey at worst.
      3 wood-6 iron?
      5 wood-hybrid?
      Hybrid-5 wood?
3 woods are easy to turn over off the tee if you want to draw it; usually ends up going an extra 15 yards.

BEST TIP EVER !!! I watched your video 3 times today – went out to my course and COULDN’T believe the results. Played nine holes – hit 7 Fairways and 2 GIR !! Par at Victoria is 35 on the front ) I shot a net 30 (THIRTY ) !! and just missed 2 birdie putts. It was the CAP!!! I have known for years that I have TENDENCY OF MOVING MY HEAD FORWARD.
but I never had a reference point. Now I do – it feels like I’m cheating, but I will continue to do it. THANKS SO MUCH – I LOVE YOU 🙂

Hmmm…. Any idea why I may be breaking tees? It doesn’t seem like you are even pulling the tees from the ground. Mine appear to end up in the next zip code. Shrug. Thoughts on what the issue may be?

We use those plastic unbreakable tees; and you can set up a tee station like in the “throwing the club series” with the Driver Hammer Throw but put the tee in front of the ball at the same height about 6 inches away. If you clip the tee past the ball, you are not hitting up on it and therefore are likely to break your tees.

Two questions…. I love this up and down movement to send the ball into the picture…. works wonderfully with my irons, but I seem to clip the ground with driver on the way through. And my second question…. how do I keep my head and upper body from being pulled forward? Your position appears to be slightly angled back and your head maintains close to the same horizontal position.

The longer the clubs the more outward the movement and the lass up and down it will look; the key is to stay with your task and simply not try to keep levels or anything of the sort and just allow the action to evolve.

So in regards to the distance from ball. I feel as though i’m putting a lot more weight on my toes instead of the middle of the foot. Is that just because the sensation is something I’m not used to?

Say i take my practice swing about an inch away from where the ball actually sits. If i leave my feet in that same location and not move, and then move the club to where the ball sits, i hit it much better.

I am 70 years old and hit my 7 iron around 150. I am left handed. I am lining things up like in videos but hit driver to left at times. I am still having trouble working the ball. I need some help. I would like to get my drives to 240 – 250.

Definitely sounds like your club face is still way too open; see “draw fine tuning” video and start with BIG HOOKS; LOTS OF THEM! Then back off and turn those into some nice compressed draws!
Very important video is “lead hand release” to get you to not only complete the backswing but also deliver a big release with ease in the direction you want to start the ball!

I use only my irons when i play. I have come to the realize that My brain malfunctions when I get a driver in my hand. After seeing this video I can visualize the arc is part of a full circle. if that makes any sense but i will give it a shot.
