Shawn one thing I’ve been focusing on lately is really driving into the ground to initiate the backswing. Legit feel?

Almost like I’m pushing down on the earth to levitate the ACU up, replanting the left heel, then doing the same in the opposite direction. Down – up – down – up

Matthew Costello

Another lightbulb! I was more “up down up” without the initial down. But the beginning of the backswing from a static position is really just the end of the forward swing if you did perpetual motion drill. So the little down to heave the club up is really just sort of the jumper cable for the entire swing

This also makes my tempo feel inevitable. The initial pressure down w my feet creates a really smooth automatic transition into my downswing. Good stuff!

On course and in comps, I find I start the kinetic chain too early (rushing to hit the ball) and that leads to some ordinary results. If I take the time to let the wrist hinge naturally and fully, the ball striking is so much better. My task is clipping the stem or the tee for driver, but even if I stick to the task, if I rush to the downswing that little bit earlier the shot goes pear-shaped. To help stop this “rush”, should I try another task or do you have a video on this “transition” sequence I should consider?

Shawn Clement

In the “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series” you are walking and sending divots into the direction of target and you can’t rush that puppy! Another video that I just revived on youtube that will be posted today is the “lag waggle into the backswing shawn clement” and it makes you wait all the way; really cool feeling!

shawn, to be better at 2 step it looks like forgot to pump to trigger kinetic chain
thx, mark

shawn , this video is the bomb!!
the 2 step drill is getting my timing down(sequence) .
I’m not very athletic and to do this drill I had to slow everything down to get it to work in sequence. if got in an all fire hurry it was mess but after dozen or so shots has it down man increase c club head speed 5mph and with little strain.
if I did strain speed would drop as well as ball contact
thx,
mark

Hey Shawn,

I have always suffered from not being able to shift while my arms are going up still without overdoing it. I have suffered from bad transition/weight shift in general.

Any other videos besides this one that can supplement more info on transition and shift?

Shawn Clement

See “weight shift with Savy”, “unstoppable momentum series” and “off season training series”
