Hi Shawn, would you say the hammer represent short irons swing with the more up and down?
If so, is there another tool to use for practicing the driver swing that is more flat?
Great video, I can’t believe how much club speed Sav is getting! Mhu, has a gorgeous swing, I loved the part when he kept his head in it, awesome! Can you please adopt me? LOL! Right now all my course is good for is some great Nordic skiing But I try and watch a spend some time practicing what you’re teaching for off-season. Thanks
Hi Shawn, I noticed today I was either over-swinging with Driver or I was losing my tilt until I picked a spot on the fairway to land the ball with my driver and then it all came together. Like somehow my body/mind knew exactly what I had to do to get it there when I had a precise target. This has been a short circuit for a while and this video reaffirms it.Thanks for all the awesome work at Wisdom in Golf! Game changing stuff!!
Trying to understand what drives the distance for my new driver as I have same/similar ballspeed and launch angle as you but ends up 50y shorter 😀 Is it the spinn left to check or is it also things like smashfactor and swing speed I need to check? Using a Ping G410 from last year with a 60g stiff shaft and 9degrees reduced -1 degree and flat setting.
Hi Fredrik! It is definitely the flatter swing and the lack of use of your legs to create the G-forces necessary to create more Smash factor. See the latest series we did on off season training!
Hi Shawn,
I like your premium Videotraining/Youtube channel and your System of teaching golf. It’s way better than the normally used method of manipulating you body parts.
What I don’t like is looking at Sav and Mu, two twenty something (both lefties) at the peak of there physically ability doing the Training and you teaching them.
I´m 64 (righty, 31 handicap), play golf the third season, and have some physical issues with my body (knee with a TEP, lower back, arthritis in the hands etc) which don’t work as good as in the past. So I have problems to follow your teaching these two young athletes wich have none of theses problems. I am not in the least interested how long Sav and Mu can drive a ball with a driver.
I am doing winter training at my home since in Bavaria/Germany now the winter has come too and you can’t play golf outside. But I don’t have such a big space at my attic and I don’t have a 50000$ machine with a big TV to see my strokes.
I only have a small net to strike the balls in, that’s it.
I`m convinced that the majority of your subscribers have similar problems.
Could you please adjust your training videos so that meagre pupils of 60+ like me profit more and better from your teaching?
Thanks a lot!
All the best to you and your family in 2021!
Tom
Hi Tom! Yes! This is why we have the “senior series” which I encourage you to watch as soon as possible; you will realize that the techniques we teach are for absolutely everyone from 8 to 98 years of age. I take a lot of pride in my understanding of human anatomy and neurology; and you can take everything I teach Savy and Mu and apply it to yourself as I always say, “with ease” and “no strain” when performing the tasks of throwing the club and cutting the grass. My example is definitely best for you and you can also go check out the series I did on the backswing with Dr Jeremy Moody who is 68 in the video. Enjoy!
Sp impressed with all three of you! Keep up these great videos and good to hear the comments from sav and mo giving it even wider perspective and different personal views
Hi Shawn, in the Youtube video of this you teach to face the club instead of the tee. Could you tell me where my eyes are supposed to be looking at? In some other video related to cutting grass you said to keep your eyes on the tee and see the bottom of the driver clipping the tee on the way up. Should my eyes still be looking at the tee or should it be on the club and have my perioheral vision focused on cutting of the top of the tee?
Eyes stay on the tee with the knowledge of where the tip of the tee is located. The blur of club is in the peripheral vision and the arc-blur must be seen all the way through the tee and to the side of the IP you want the ball to start on. See “blur of club” and “arc-blur unstoppable momentum” series
Great video Shawn. Many times when I am lining up to chip on an uphill lie, I feel as though my club would gauge the ground if I don’t choke down… Do you ever choke down on an uphill lie or is your grip/club relationship the same as on flat ground? Cheers, Brian
Hi Brian! No gripping down; the key is to follow the slope with the task of cutting through the dandelion stem and to be in terrific leverage and balance to be able to allow the WEIGHT OF THE ARM-CLUB UNIT to perform that task. After imagining the trajectory of the shot, based on the slope and the club needed to roll the ball into the hole, you then goldie locks the momentum needed to perform the task. Enjoy! 😀👍
Down to 6.8 handicap from 14.2 this year. Next year I would like to halve it again. Putting has been my weakness. I’ve tried many alternatives and even went back to wrist putting for a time this year. Your method of using the arm/club unit as one works, I like it. But I’ve struggled with consistency. Today I had a eureka discovery. I’ve always had my weight on the balls of my feet (unknowingly) when putting. In my full swing, I’m keeping my weight over my heels to allow the squat and stop early extension. I thought I’d try it with the putter and WOW! Whilst I didn’t hole everything, I hit every putt solid and straight-faced. My problem must have been lack of stability – weight through heels also makes hanging the club/arm unit from the shoulder much more relaxed and flowing. Watch our world!
YES!!!! Like we always say: balance the machine through the ankles (all spikes solid in the ground) and COG in a relaxed state through the centre of the ankles. THEN we want the ARM-PUTTER UNIT in balance under the shoulder sockets where it can track it’s own arc in the direction you want the putt to roll. KUDOS on your AHA moment!! 👍😀👌
Such a good video. My weakness is an outside – in swing path. I lose so much leverage. So then I started to take the club on the inside on my backswing, thinking that this promoted an inside – out downswing. But in reality, I was making it worse. Now the problem I am having is that I must be very conscious of my backswing “positions” at the mile markers; (i.e. “Don’t take it back inside”) Will that just go away on its own with repetition? If not, what do I replace that thought with. For example, my brain thinks that I can cut grass, regardless of bringing the club inside. Any ideas? Many thanks!
Yes, the “how to match backswing to target” for the backswing; and then “throwing the club” video to deliver to the target with the “predict contact” and “the goldie locks series” videos combo. Then go to “blur of club” and “arc-blur unstoppable momentum” series.
Hello Shawn, been watching a long time, since the “Clemshaw” days. Decided to start golfing again after 6 years… “position” swing work ruined me. One question on the effect the skies have, it feels like there is more weight on the insteps of your feet, Ben Hogan talked about this in his setup, and its something I have been tinkering with trying to stay centered. Is that a bad idea as I work forward with your information? It definitely creates a bit more tension in the lower body at setup as a tradeoff.
I would also add that if you use the butt in the trebuchet then its pretty tough to early extend!
Thanks for all your years of hard work to help people!
Hi Greg! I would not recommend that; you will see “the walking drill” and this is a drill you should definitely practice regularly as the tension free action of this drill will get you what you need without thinking. The “feet together back to feet apart” and “pumping up the volume” videos would be next and very important to get you to realize that built in tension is no good for your machine. The next “driver polish session” coming out next week on premium will be important for you through Munashe’s perspective so stay tuned for that too!
Hi Shawn – I just watched one if your YouTube videos – how to separate the ball from the ground. Great vid! What video(s) would you recommend for “separate the ball from the tee”? Either YouTube or Premium is fine. Thanks (for everything)!
Wow, what a difference did this video make. I am imaging a kid on a swing in my set up, to overcome my “tugging” the club inside on my takeaway. Then I match that to the left or the right side of my intermediate target. But what really, really helped was “goldilocksing” [a new verb!]. I feel that I am reprogramming my brain to a different way of completing the task. Can’t wait for the season to start!
Shaun Clement, you freeking genius. x6 balls over the fence at the back of the range today, no wind and cold golf balls. I nailed everything, irons, and woods. My club head speed must have increased by 10% since listening to you. This will make you laugh, but timing-wise, I was mentally swinging a dog lead, waiting for it to hit my back before starting the downswing – it really helped – weird – but that was my mental image. Everything came together today.
How cool is that! You the man! Yes, I know what you mean about the Dog Lead; you have to wait for it to settle before you sling it into the picture! Gather it before delivering it!
👌💪👍😀
