Hi and thank you for asking. Yes i have stayed pretty much same technic. When season started i had repeatability problems. Now i try to feel more centered and anchored swing. When i did frisbee drill my body was releasing more and i change that to hammer drill to feel more centered and litel more hand release.. Now my swing feel pretty good and i have played rounds like 82 and record round was 78. So im getting better 🙂

As a new Eagle member you have cured the problems I was having with half shots, pitches and even chips going sideways. Love the fine tuning video which I practiced yesterday. One problem I was having was bottoming out before the ball. Having been a Rotary Swing member I remember the advice on what they called posting up on the lead (left) leg. This involves weight shift to the left then pushing hard against the ground. This seems to bottom the arc out and help with shifting the left hip. I have watched a lot of the videos on your site, have I missed out on this move or should I be doing something else ?

The reason why you don’t hear me harping on HOW TO SHIFT OR POST ON LEFT is because our system (human body-central nervous system) has this built in for free! We have incredible self preserving wires built right in.
See my “ club speed “ video which is a great session on throwing the club and perform the “walking and cutting grass drill” you will see a nice series on “off season training” and after the grip and posture videos around the 4th to 9th one, you will have some walking drills there that will ensure that you stay nicely centered through out the motion;
When you OVERDO weight shift, you send yourself out in front of the ball and dislodge your swing’s centre. This will cause a reaction to throw the club quickly atnthe ball so you don’t miss it!

I’m following your teaching since i have begun to play golf, 10 months ago, and i can say that you have saved me so much time and effort. I’m now a 15.8 handicaper and every time i hit a wall, i find one video that help me keeping making progress. I have also taken a couple of lessons with Edouard Montaz, since i’m from France, and it was great. I really enjoy the new website and the audio files in the Eagle exclusive part are pure gold.
I have one issue that keep bothering me every time i think i have solved it :
I truly recognize myself in the last video you recently posted on your Youtube main channel “Release your club”. I have the same issue as the one your student is struggling with. The club head keep coming sligthly open, causing some fade/slice and losing me some distance. My main feel when i swing is the tomahawk/fishing rod underneath throw. But i’m unable to find the similitude between that feel and the football drill : i would definitively throw the ball like you do but i think i would never throw it like i throw a tomahawk. Where am i wrong ?
Another little thing for the website, don’t you think it could be a good idea if premium or eagle members could ask you some simple questions that you would select and which you could answer to in a some regular videos ?

Great lesson, I could tell his backswing was longer when he hit the ball than it was during his smooth practice swing. I tend to do the same thing and never thought about grip pressure keeping me from over-doing my backswing
Grip Pressure was too tight enough and the club move tend to get loose at the top of the backswing. I have worked on the left hand only swing feeling the natural hinge at the top and finish
Dragging the club back as you mentioned in the “Initial move” was a great tip. Really set the swing in the right motion, and made it very fluid; effortless.
I’ve been hitting the driver well but the height is just far to high if I want to play a fade. I’m hitting everything solid slightly on the way up to an even level of attack, but the thing is going into the stratosphere. I want to hit it lower without hitting down on it sharply.
I’ve got 8.5 degrees of loft and an xstiff 70g shaft. I can’t get the loft any lower. Would I just need a heavier shaft with lower loft to bring the flight down?
How do you hit your fairway woods? Do like my latest set up for accurate drives; and tee the ball about a half inch high, and then focus on the sole of the club staying along the ground into the backswing and then well past the ball through impact; eyes on the grass between club and ball because you will no longer see the tee anymore; just like hitting a driver off the deck on a perfect lie!

Shawn seems like your wrist at the top is a bit cupped, isnt it better to have a flat wrist at the top of most swings especially with the longer clubs?
Hi Raymond! Sorry I did not see this!
My wrist is not cupped (I call that collapsed) and those who flatten or bow like Dustin and Brooks have a weaker grip that needs face closure somehow; and they did this as young juniors before they got formal instruction. If you hit a baseball with a bat with a bowed wrist, you would break your wrist. So what we do here at wisdom in golf is much more anatomically sound.
Hey Shawn – i’m looking for a video where you talk about the distance your hands are from your thighs increases as the clubs are longer (so closer for wedges, furthest away at address for driver). I *know* i’ve seen it – but i can’t seem to find it here or on YouTube. Any suggestions? Would be awesome for keyword search to be able to find key video concepts.
I have to agree with dctheobald on his comment about how the left knee has to feel like its kicked in. It was a critical feel to having the proper brace and took me some time to become aware of. I was having an issue of defaulting to the ball due to some disconnect from my brace and posture and realized how my left knee wasn’t moving in properly. Once I adopted the feel of the kicked in knee, my posture and braced tilt was much better and I felt like it was key to stopping the disconnection from my shot.
As soon as I came to this kicked in knee feel realization, Hogan’s 5 fundamentals came to mind, how he says to start with the knees in since we need to use the inner muscles of our legs – this seems to really apply to the braced tilt and also the posture! Pushing the knees together forces the posture required to get the suction cup feet feel as well so it seems like a good posture acid test to me.
BTW I would say that the Hammer Drill video on Premium WIG is a braced tilt video that is far better than any of the free youtube vids!
Great vid, but for some reason I tend to cup my left wrist or collapse at impact, is there a drill to get my left wrist slightly bowed to get more compression on the ball? I am gripping club just as you showed.

It all starts with the right focus on the task that will deliver this for you; my favourite is the “squeezing the ball through the doorframe”
