Hey Shawn,

Apologies if this question has already been asked before, however, when I started golf I just bought a set of whatever second-hand clubs were available, good thing for me is that I believe they were quite beginner clubs. However, the clubs feel quite heavy for me now to whip the snot out of that ball! So I was thinking of getting fitted for clubs that would be better suited for my swing and whatever swing improvements I can make. I just kind of want a set of clubs that matches my swing style that I won’t outgrow for a while if I’m going to be spending that much money on them.

Do you have any suggestions for places I could get fitted? For reference, I’m in Seattle, WA and there is a Club Champion near me as I’ve seen you suggest that in the past.

Appreciate it, Shawn! I will give those brands a try! So you wouldn’t recommend going to a place like Club Champion?

Also, pardon my ignorance, however, are those 5 game improvement irons considered blades or cavity backed irons? I have heard that blades are quite unforgiving so it’s not for beginners. However, I feel like if I want to grow and improve I would probably want to learn how to hit the more difficult irons wouldn’t I? Sorry, I’m still relatively new to the game and although I’m kind of getting the hang of your teaching philosophy, the science behind these irons are a whole different area!

Like, would I not want to get irons with less forgiveness and grow into them? Because it would promote me to train and be more precise with my striking?

Yea, I was thinking about playing, if not practicing, at least 3+ times a week (what can I say, I got bit by the golf bug? 😅).

And I guess my personal philosophy is that I’m willing to endure the frustration/uncomfortableness of the unforgiving blades if it can make me a better player faster? Not sure if this particular style of thinking is conducive to progress though.

I don’t know if I’m wrong in thinking that the errors would be more salient in the blades, but if they were, wouldn’t that help me be more aware of my errors and learn to strike the ball with more precision? Or am I completely wrong here? I have noticed that I have progressed quite quickly for a beginner with no lessons other than your videos and trial and error though, or at least I believe I have. And now my current irons feel a little too heavy to feel like I can whip it as much as I would like. So since I want to get more into golf, I want to invest in better irons. Do you think it would it be stupid to get pro tour level irons and grow into them 😅? Or should I just slow my role a bit and buy clubs that fit my swing now and pace my progress? Apologies for the wall of text! Thanks for all you do, Shawn!
