Shawn,
I have watched several of your throwing the club videos. I find that I do get to a full finish when no ball is present At the beginning, I missed right of target most often and now I am missing left. In this video, I noticed your rhythm and how your head picks up the target during the perpetual motion. You also appear to be releasing the club in front of your body. Finally, I am much more accurate with the hammer throw. Is it because of the weight?
I have just finally gotten to the “ball and turf in the way” or ball in the way with driver in the latest spinning series; in there, we talk about the weight of the ball will SLOW DOWN SLIGHTLY your ability to spin the tees using momentum, but it won’t PREVENT YOU FROM DOING THE TASK. This is the secret to having the ball in the way of the swing towards the flight plan and not becoming the destination. We will elaborate in the “target confirmation series” 2.0 soon!
Finding it very difficult to throw the club from a more upright swing(higher hands) as opposed to my old flat around the body swing. Is it because I’m rushing the downswing not letting my arms fall toward the target?
Hey Doug!
go to the throwing series and see the short stop throw! That one is more under and through!
Hello Shawn and greetings from France (you’ll forgive my bad English then)
I’ve been playing golf for a year now and I’ve improved a lot thanks to your videos and your method. In fact, I started golfing with a lot of arm manipulation, relying on my “strength” to throw the ball far, which causes huge hooks. I worked on it, although it’s hard to fight bad habits, and I managed to almost eliminate that tendency… but now I’ve inherited a new one: slicing. This is especially the case with 6 and 5 irons, and paradoxically less the case with hybrids and the driver…
So I try to follow your advice. I closed the face (45deg), I worked on my grip and my alignment, I try to launch the club as you teach us, I watched all the ‘fundamental’ videos but still… I feel like it’s getting worse…
Do you have any video dedicated to correcting the slice or any tips to help me overcome this problem? When it goes “straight” I have good distance and control. It’s very frustrating ^^
Sounds to me like you are shanking the ball and not slicing it as this issue does not make sense; shanking is when you strike the ball in the neck of the club and the ball shoots off to the right. This means you are releasing at the ball and or are too close to it or losing balance forward into it. See the “football drill series” and this video here I just uploaded on youtube that we will be making a nice series on premium with! https://youtu.be/apXe9yfe6Q4
Shawn have question which video talks about weight shift in feet during swing ,when throwing club I feel weight loading onto my right heel ( right handed clubs) and on the downswing I feel it shifting to my left heel is this the correct feeling in the feet. The club often hits the ground not to far from me but on line not sure the cause.
Hey Barry! See “weight shift with Savy”, “the walking drill”, “feet together back to feet apart” and “kinetic chain engagement series”
Hi Shawn,
as I never held a Canadian grass cutter in my hands, my club does not seem to have a “cutting” sole. For now, I am scraping wood. Allow me to say: It is amazing how much joy you bring to people.
When you throw the club “at the left edge of the wet paint sign” your club head on its trajectory hits that spot. When you do the throw with a ball in the way, the ball on its trajectory hits that same spot – even though I would expect it to hit the net higher due to the loft of the club face.
Do you feel a difference in the “throw”, without ball versus with ball ?
I.o.w., do you feel to “throw” on a lower trajectory in the second scenario with ball ?
Best regards
Eckhart
Same throw with or without the ball; the difference is in the prediction and what is in the way of the throw and you can use a natural “goldie locks” with a plastic “whiffle ball” and then a “volley Ball” and then back to the golf ball being in the way of of the throw. It is a good thing to practice different ball weight and size to sharpen your prediction process. See “predict contact” and the “goldie locks series”
