First time trying diagonal at range
I’m left handed .
Making great contact .
But driver consistently went right
Not a slice straight right
Could I be using too stiff a shaft and or too big grip using bigger than standard grip
Diagonal feel good with irons too
Thanks
The great contact is what we want, easy to work with that.
1-Did you use an intermediate point to match ball position and delivery of momentum to the direction you wanted to start the ball?
If yes, then you simply just need to close the face of the driver some more; goldie locks it nicely to get your extreme hook and then work your way back to the draw. Most tour professionals prefer hitting power fades too and diagonal stance is solid for that as well. Nothing wrong with hitting fades with driver and draws for the rest.

Hey Shawn,
I love your content and being able to eliminate so many thoughts and just perform the task. With the diagonal stance do hips and upper body remain on the target line? I initially found myself in almost a pre-turn position.
Jeff
This answer is the continuation of the message of “body part positioning is a disaster in the making”
It starts with the flight plan and then choosing a nice intermediate point to help match the set up to the picture of this flight plan. You can go about it With the original structure of wisdom in golf or re-position the feet in a way that will allow you to maximise your range of motion in the backswing and have a better platform in the follow through to support the release in the direction you want to start the ball.
The end result is the ball starts easily on the line you want it to start on and then curves the way you want it to curve to the end target. To think about where the shoulders and hips are would not be productive because it is all perception and we suck at it!! All we want to know is: does this allow me to deliver that way with ease and velocity and does the swing naturally want to move in this direction?

I tried 9-holes with the diagonal stance today and was surprised how well it worked! 🙂 Just for fun I even putted with it! 🙂 In my case, I got a better brace to the left leg and my best shots were those who felt like the one legged drill. The best thing with this stance is that it frees the brain from thinking of aligning body parts and instead the only thought is to align the momentum. against a (intermediate)target .

Yes sir!!! Just played 18 holes in the pouring rain and same results; lots pf GIRs and a 2 over front and 2 under back which was filled with birdie tries! So much fun!
Hey Shawn –
How does this change what you and I have been working on?
It does not! 😀👍
This is simply another option that works on all fronts!
Can the diagonal stance work for bunker shots as well?
You bet! A bunker and flop shot are pure fades; and fades are easy to perform as you have seen my set up in this video for a fade; I seriously love the way the set up looks in here and could not have demonstrated any better!! Which shows how natural this set up can be!

Hi Shawn,
Using the IP to direct the momentum seems simple enough. What is the relation of the club head to the swing. I’m getting a little confused since I feel there’s a significant mis-balance when I grip the club face in a closed position and swinging the club through or by the IP.
Not mis-balanced; DIFFERENTLY BALANCED!!!!
This still will not prevent you from delivering a nice whip to target; it will just feel different.
