  • From Helene Roy on Practice Tee to First Tee

merci Shawn.

Shawn is there a video for a putter grip? I can’t find anything that will help keep my shoulders level. I just realized from watching this I’m always lead high for right handed. Thank you!

Hey Nate! In the wisdom 1.0 there is something but I will put this on the list as something to update; in the meantime, here is a great putting grip video on my youtube channel:

Hey Shawn, Finally realized what feel the weight of the arm club unit meant [auto momentum/kinetic chain], in-fact Mu’s [first couple of swings] was a great example, this to me personally meant lot lower in my stance and the kettle bell worked its magic, it felt awkward at first but realized my stance and how close the club was to me was the issue…ground breaking, as this can fix my iron swing as well [jack knife helped, but this drove home the point]….maybe its just me that had the eureka, but if anyone else out there is like me…

    Hi Shawn
First I want to thank you I have been an on-again off again member over the last few years and you have helped me move from an 8 handicap down to a zero cap and I am struggling a little right now with confidence with the release, let the wrist go and whip vs holding the hands and control but always feeling like I am not hitting full potential? however, I do know I am loving the game like never before
    Thank you!

Awesome! That is a sweet deal!
The prediction process is where this needs to go; sometimes if you don’t feel comfortable over the ball and hit the shot anyways, it will never pan out very nicely. So brush up on the “goldie locks” series and the “flow state series” and then see our latest “stick the finish despite the ball” series for some polish!

Shawn, you talk about tasks. My trouble begins when I default to the ball as you know, rushing backswing and swaying to hit the ball. Task to hit inside 1/4 out to the right etc….low success percentage but. NOW….My practice and success comes with feeling the ACU( major initiator)->, low effort out of the way backswing and then with my head stable behind the ball and eyes on the front of the ball I can get the ground with my lead leg naturally and allow a kinetic chain , confirmed by practice blur, to throw the club with ball-grass-dirt intent through ( always) an intermediate point. I need my eyes to confirm the task making the sequence more predictable. Not too many swing thoughts. Just a visual confirmation and balanced swing out there. Of all the scores of lessons I’ve seen and had through you I find these are essential to my improvement and enjoyment of the game. Thanks, JM.

  • From Josh Vogt on DIAGONAL SERIES PART 3-LONG IRONS AND FAIRWAY WOODS

Hi Shawn, Thank you for putting together this video series. Since joining your premium site, (2 weeks) i was able to post my lowest score today – 10 stroke difference. ( normally a mid ninety player. Shot an 85, no gimme putts or mulligans lol, even with posting an 8 on a hole – tree trouble.) The diagonal stance series tied everything together so I think I can go even lower now) Your method has really improved my game 100 fold and I’ve tried everything. Stack and tilt, conventional, one plane, etc. Nothing worked for me until you. Thanks again for all your work!!

  • From [email protected] on FADE AND DRAW ADVANCED OPTIONS

Hi Shawn, as always, great video.
When getting behind the ball for the draw, does it matter that my shoulders are not “aligned” with my foot line?
    Thanks!

    Go to comment
    • From Shawn Clement on FADE AND DRAW ADVANCED OPTIONS

Hi Nate! That is correct! The feet are aligned “parallel left of target” and the pelvis and rib cage are “pre-turned” behind the ball setting the knees, hips and shoulders slightly to the right for the right handed player.

Just got grass whip the other day. I only have thick grass to cut through and I feel as if this may be impeding getting the right feel. Thoughts?

    • From Shawn Clement on Grass Whip Training

Use the rubber tee on a mat and cut thentee out from under the ball; this is the key feel and look you are going for; when the ball falls to the ground after you take the legs out from under it.

  • From Tony Bohanan on LEAD HAND RELEASE DRILL ASSURANCES

    Hi Shawn,
I am a left handed golfer do i pull down with my right aram and will my right hand release on it’s on?

    Go to comment
    • From Shawn Clement on LEAD HAND RELEASE DRILL ASSURANCES

Hi Tony! See the original “lead hand release” video and really think about it as a task of using that sword through a nice bamboo shoot. When you use the weight of the arm-sword unit, the release is something you will need to ALLOW TO HAPPEN and learn how to YIELD and get the arm out of the way to let the tip of the sword (grip of club) pass it. See “release fine tuning” and my favourite, “snap release polish”
Now, what pulls the arm-club unit through is the body’s kinetic chain, so please see “kinetic chain series” and the recent “kinetic chain facilitation series” and the “task update” video.

these will get your understanding of the swing on track and allow you to perform without thinking about the pulling or pushing with arms.

      Shawn

  • From Paul Belcher on 2 SWING DRILL- KETTLE BELL AND DIVOT PEEL LAUNCHER

Why do you play the ball so far back in your stance. Don’t most pros on tour play it more forward? Also doesn’t that make the trajectory a lot lower? I’ve struggled with where to out the ball in my stance.

    • From Shawn Clement on 2 SWING DRILL- KETTLE BELL AND DIVOT PEEL LAUNCHER

No, not at all! There are many more factors involved and it all depends on whether you fade or draw and the height you want to send it on; you will see many shots from Tiger with the ball well back in his stance; big time! See “the goldie locks series” and ball position is a topic for a full video in that series; you will love it!

It feels like the 2 swing drill is handy for loosening one’s swing. Would you use the arc blur as the first swing and then immediately followed by the actual shot on the tee box?

    Hey Shawn!

Great video! My challenge has been defaulting to the ball and not through the ball.
Old habits are hard to break. Can you please share with me the pros and cons of having eyes focused on the sliver of grass between club face and the ball and having your eyes on the front of the ball? The reason I’m asking this question because in your videos I haven’t heard you talk about having your eyes on the front of the ball. Thank you for your feedback in advance.

    • From Shawn Clement on 2 SWING DRILL- KETTLE BELL AND DIVOT PEEL LAUNCHER

As a general rule, most of my students who look at the ball get too distracted by it and never see the task; the hammer drill is a fine task where the eyes are on the ball but the task is to squeeze it through the doorframe into the flight plan so it can work as long as you see the task everytime you set up! I enjoy them all because I have practiced all the tasks and have success with them and use each one according to certain shots on course. See “task to target” videos for some great examples! So bottom line, choose a task you feel resonates with you, get really good at it and see where the eyes need to be to be able to stay with the task despite the ball; with the spinning task, my eyes are on the outside of the ball as I am spinning the tees in the direction of the IP with momentum; so much fun!!
