“Get out of the way. Get out of the way.” Sean, this feet together drill has really helped me rotate my hips, clear my chest and let my arms clear my body. Helped me feel the sensation of the “Core of WIG” – the body turn rather than the arm swing. Thanks.

Wow course looks beautiful! Now that weather is better for everything the course will green up fast. Loved the way you explained to everyone the shots and why but also how to have fun no matter what.

Fence is a nice visual aid to show both alignment and flight path of fade and draw.

    Hello Shawn, how are you?
I am having a hard time not manipulating the putting stroke, I just don’t feel the right line of the stroke, I usually feel it is always different and tend to “correct” it in the middle of the stroke, is there a reason? Maybe the putter is not the right for me as it is too light or something?
Also, my putting stance hurts my lower back, what do you recommend for a more relax putting stance?
    Thanks,
    Elio

      Hi Elio!
Posture; of course, stand where you feel in balance and stacked; which will take pressure off the back; play with the posture until you feel it does not affect your back; as long as you can balance the arms under the shoulders! If the arms cannot swing freely with the elbow in front of the body, then you HAVE TO MANIPULATE THE STROKE!

Also, play with different grips until you feel that the arms and putter get to feel like ONE SOLID UNIT UNDER THE SHOULDER SOCKETS.

Shawn when swing with my left arm only I have good speed (for me). Same speed with my right arm only. With both hands on the club the speed diminishes by about 15mph. I cannot figure out what is going on for the life of me.
    Help! Please!

    keep up the great lessons.

    cheers,

    Gordon

Hi Shawn, Played yesterday using this method and shot my best round since November last year. I was able to hit both fades and draws when the situation called for it. These videos really help, thanks

  • From Mark Cohn on Task Trumps Everything

Do you feel the peeling with your left hand or your right hand?

Also, sometime I take my backswing and the task is firmly in place, and all the milestones are checked. But when I hinge my wrists the club is very upright….not on plane. Is this because of my grip or some other reason. I fell as if I can hinge my wrists in several different ways which puts the club in a different plane on each one. Cheers!

    • From Shawn Clement on Task Trumps Everything

Hey Mark! This is very solid deep down the rabbit hole feedback!
1-You will never get exactly the same hinge as you are built for adaptation
2-You will realize that several different hinges CAN STILL DO THE JOB or task

What I am working on at the moment is what would my grip strength be if I had the fullest and most abandonned release (with ease of course) that was fully anchored? This grip strength would also affect the way I hinge and the way I am preparing to release would also affect my hinge.

What a reminder. Aim left hit left with confirming blur for backswing on fade (r handed) and aim at target swing right with confirming blurr for draw. So often I don’t complete the pre shot confirmation with sometimes nasty result …..ouch…

Yes, paint the complete picture and complete the feel you are going to use to deliver into that picture; the goal is to get to the point that you are so nicely prepared that the whole thing will seem so easy to perform!

Looking for confirmation of a feeling . When the butt swivels to counter balance the arms in the backswing I feel my right heel (right handed golfer)put pressure into the ground to move my right hip towards the target and it feels like my left knee is pulling my left hip away from target . When I put the feet apart for a regular golf swing I get the same sensation , my knee comes to the ball or behind it and my back gets turned to the target. After that the arms levitate and the club sets the wrist , would all these sensation and feels be accurate on achieving a complete backswing ?

This is how I would describe it on paper! 👍😀
Do you feel that the inside arch of the right foot never gives up it’s suction as well during this motion?

I have seen many of your videos on YouTube and joined your web site. here is my question since I am new to your site. Since you have SO Many videos, is there an order to watching them in order to learn your method. In so many of your videos, you refer back to anther video that you have done and I feel like I am not watching your videos in a proper order, so that I can learn your process from beginning to end. I want to learn your method, but am thoroughly confused as to how to go about it. Your recommendation would be most helpful.. I have been playing for many years, but I do believe you can teach an old dog new tricks and your method is one that I would like to adopt. I would say, I am more of ball picker, not much of a divot taker because I have not learned how to get my hands to go ahead of the ball. I openly admit, I do try to hit the ball and have been doing it so long, that it is a very hard habit to break. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks in advance!

Best thing to do is follow in chronological order and make notes on the things that resonate with you and understand the things that resonate less and let them wash over you; go with 1.0 first and then in chrono order and take your time and enjoy! It is already a 20 year shortcut in 3 years or less.

If you look at the list of categories on the right hand side of this page, at the bottom is 1.0

      It is a series of 5 videos of about an hour that take you through the original series I did in 2013; it takes you through our fundamentals in priority sequence and gives you the base;

Then as you continue after this in chronological order, you will see the refinements that have been added to this base and how it evolves into tasks into flight plans to your targets and continues to strip away at what is less important and what is essential to consistent golf shots.

Sorry, but I find this as an incomplete answer. What is 1.0? Is this in lessons? Please be more precise.

Yes the suction stays on the arch of the right foot and feel that the braced tilt helps achieve that .

    Hi Shawn.
Your technique of testing the swing and then bringing the arm club unit in is working for me. Great tip.
Excuse me if I missed it. Can you tell me where you look when you are putting, at the top of the ball, at the back of the ball, at the grass between the ball and putter or at the putter? I struggle with short putts on the side of a slope. I miss so many and it seems like a lot of pressure to sink them.
    Thanks Pete

      Hi Pete!
See “putting focus shawn clement” on youtube; very good video to help you picture the speed you want to sink the putt with and what part of the hole you want to sink the ball on; Shawn

  • From Don Sievert on Working the Ball

Great video–really helps break down something I always had a challenge with around aiming to or away from the target coupled with ball position to hit draws and fades. So here’s where I get confused–I can now hit fades and draws with my irons ,however I get confused applying ball position and aim with the driver since you normally play that forward of center line anyway.

Is the aim the same (Aim left for fade and at the target for draw) between the iron and driver? I assume so, but what about ball position with the driver. I tend not to change it much for the driver between fades and draws and I am having less consistent results which makes me think thats where part of my problem is.

    Thanks
    Don
