I am raising this question here as can only see one video on club fitting but this pertains specifically to the Driver.
I know that you will have tested umpteen different shaft flexes and weights from different manufacturers, so would welcome your thoughts as to whether in general a lighter shaft or a heavier shaft promotes a better feeling of the weight of the arm club. I realise that flex also enters the equation but was more interested in the weight aspect and if this has been a significant factor in your own decision making.
If you have already discussed this somewhere then please point me in the right direction. Much appreciated.

Hurray!!! I should have watched this a thousand times first. You see, my perpetual motion drill was a disaster. Crazy inconsistent. Feet together. Foot behind nothing helped.
In this video you said the balance problem plagues many of us. I didn’t think I had a balance problem, but I did. Something you said here turned on a light bulb. Now that I’m ‘sitting’ on those arches, lo and behold, the club really does hit the ground in the same spot!
My body must have been wiggling all over the place trying to stay upright.

I hope I didn’t miss anything, but I don’t recall you mentioning ball position with this set up, just aim right or left of intermediate point, didn’t look like much forward or back , seemed to stay behind “door frame”
Is this correct, just open face a little more for fade. or are we still moving ball back or forward of center
Keep going! I do talk ball position And it relates to the FLIGHT PLAN through the intermediate point. Only once you have the flight plan can you choose IP and then adjust ball position. Go to parts 2 and keep going! 😀👍
The premium channel has been a tremendous help to me already (here in Virginia, we get some play even in the winter!). Distance has improved noticeably, putting has improved, and I’ve gone from constantly battling a slice to being able to work the ball left or right much of the time. But (you knew that was coming, didn’t you?). The recurring problem seems to be what others would call taking my eye off the ball. I guess I would call it “not keeping my focus on the dandelion stem.” There are two symptoms, that may reflect one problem, or possibly more than one. The first is hitting far out on the toe, so the ball goes 45º to the right. The second is topping it (if only it was “just” thin). When I think about what I did on the shot, it seems as if my focus was on hitting into the picture, but by turning my head, I have let the clubhead get out of position.
Do you have any swing thoughts, focus, or drills that may help with this?
Hi Shawn, on the last video you mentioned lining up left on your fade, is that the same on the draw. Also, on the draw you have a pre-twist in your pelvis but not the fade, right? Thanks
Yes, and for the draw, you have the option of setting up square as the ball position is a tad back of centre for the irons; have a look at Important Driver Nugget video as well as “diagonal stance part 1-2”
The fade has the ball slightly forward of center so you are already “behind the ball”
The draw, the ball is slightly back of center, so to get behind the ball, there is a little pre-turn of the pelvis and rib cage, yes!
Thanks Shawn, so my feet alignment is slightly to left for a fade and slightly to the right for a draw so I can cut grass to the L or R of my intermediate point?
In the face on, slo-mo, when you and Savannah are doing the cut the grass your hips are pretty much facing the ball when the arm club passes. When you actually strike the ball they are facing more towards the target. More so for Savannah it appears.
Is this in anticipation of impact?

No, see “throwing the club” video; the brain is locked on target and so it knows when to shift the weight, HOW MUCH TO CLEAR THE HIPS, AND WHEN TO LET THE CLUB RELEASE THE HANDS AND ARMS to deliver in the direction you want to start the ball; it will feel more open with fade and a bit less open with draw. But that is an after thought. STAY WITH THE TASK TO TARGET.
I hope you are not indicating, pressure on right hand grip or tight grip A tight trail hand will not allow a release on the club, as such a power lost.
This is what the golf industry would have you think; but alas, there is way more to it!
When you throw the club in the direction you want to ball to start with authority and ease, the G-forces are so strong that it is not only impossible to stop the release but you need to secure that grip so that the machine does not collapse; another update is being uploaded today!

I had good day at range yesterday. My short irons were okay, but longer clubs were all over. Then i remember your old catapult video and how to use your “counterweight” Timing get much better and i was able hit some good shots with all clubs 🙂 It all makes more sense now. Loading, timing and also why you need that centered platform. Still lot off work to do but one lesson learned again.

Review the grip video if you feel that when you squeeze it feels strenuous or awkward; it should feel VERY SECURE-AIR TIGHT-VACUUM SEALED and when you whip the club, it feel like a solid slip knot around the grip.
I started to grip tighter as you suggest. My only concern is that the tension in my forearms will migrate into the arms where I will try to swing with the upper body (using my back instead of the legs). Further, the tighter grip cuts down on wrist hinge as it seems to lock the wrists up more. Any suggestions?
Exactly! It should feel like a tighter whip; but not prevent you from whipping the club; for many, this will prevent a COLLAPSE of the wrists; so if you put your swing on video, you may be pleasantly surprised!
Hi Shawn ; I like your comment on grip pressure. I am having trouble with the whip concept . I’m using the overlap grip right hand and found I could grip securely with it. Trouble was I found I was squeezing so hard my left index was bearing down on the knuckle of the right hand . I t caused my club head to be open on follow through when club was parallel and the whip action was a wishful thought. When i moved my left index finger off the knuckle and onto the area above the right knuckle ( phalange ) the club was cosing slightly and I actually started to feel a slight whip . Was I doing a common mistake, and am I now on the right path . Med
Acid test is the perpetual motion drill where you would cut grass in both directions while walking; see the “walking drill” video. Monitor that the grip stays in place in both directions and feel a nice full release in both directions. The grip should not move and stay nice and secure and in place the whole time.
Hi Shawn, I am struggling with a consistent driver so I started Feet Together and One Legged training yesterday. Feet Together straightened out my issues and One Legged felt really effortless with excellent shot shape (slight draw) and distance. So that is all good. I tried normal stance afterwards but still found issues tugging and pulling shots left. I feel like I should take the one legged stance to the course for consistency and solid distance. I might look a little strange to my buddies but the results should hopefully be worth it. Should I continue to try and go to normal stance ? Or is staying with an effortless one legged drive ok.
P.S. I’ve had similar results with the 3 wood, hybrids and long irons. One Legged is king for me at the moment.
