The relationship between takeaway and balance was a critical point in this one; a key awareness that I think will pay big dividends.

Is the only difference between a push and a draw that the face was square to the inside out path instead of relatively closed, or are there other factors?

You have it in essence; but if it is a one off, resist the temptation to correct as the brain has already done that for you through very elaborate internal feedback; only correct if you see a pattern of pushes…remember seeing the video of why we cannot REPEAT the task the same exact way every time?

  • From Rich Mercadante on DRIVER SENDING TEE TIPS TO TARGET With PMD!

    Hi Shawn,

Really good info. I’m a 61 y/o lefty.. Doing really well with the irons using the strong grip, throwing the club, etc. But am all over the place with the woods and driver. esp hooks and occ tops. I know I must be defaulting to the ball, but it’s so hard to think of just throwing the club out there when I’m looking a the ball or tip of the tee. Annika Sorenstam comes to mind with her swing… never seems to look at ball, LOL. May I could try just concentrating more on the throw and forget about the ball? Thoughts?

We need a bit more reinforcements with the woods and driver; see “great driver nugget” and “diagonal stance driver fade and draw” as well as “arc-blur” and “unstoppable momentum” videos; Shawn

Forgot to mention… In honor of the British Open next week, I remember the classic announcer Peter Alliss commented after a wayward shot…”What a cruel, cruel game..” lol!

Gap wedge – Maybe one day we can see what’s in MU’s bag – and their distances! Lucky he hangs on to the club these days he could just about toss the wedge on to the green! Envy is one of the 7 Sins yes??

I am new here but….how in the world do you swing hands and grip so far towards target before the release?

Hi Gary! We collect the ball from where it is and we release it into the direction we want it to start on; see “target confirmation series” and The “throwing series” and then see “the goldie locks series” for your prediction of contact.

Shawn, do you use your arms at all to throw the club or are the swung with the body?

    • From Shawn Clement on Clubhead Speed

It is all part of the kinetic chain; when throwing a ball, you notice the whole body is used and follows a specific sequence; this is actually a human reflex and to try and separate it and think it through would be SABOTAGE ON AN EPIC SCALE. See the “kinetic chain series” and the “kinetic chain engagement” series and feel how the arms are just SUPPORTING the task and have a very specific tone depending upon if it is a gentle throw for a pitch or a solid throw in a short iron from the thicker rough.

    Hi Shawn,
I watched a few of your YouTube videos and went down the rabbit hole… haha. Recently started the premium program and Just tried throwing the club drill… MY FIRST THROW ENDED UP WAY LEFT ON TOP OF MY GARAGE (LMFAO). I will keep watching your videos and keep you posted on my progress( currently about a 13 handicap and trying to crack 80). Thanks for your enthusiasm on all your videos. I can tell you are one of the good coaches out there.

Question about the right hand. I have a damaged right pinky. Typically, I have used an overlap grip. However, after watching this is there any reason why I can’t use a ten finger grip versus overlapping?

At 21:30 of this lesson my life changed. I have been watching you for a year or so on and off. Direction of the target have eluded me. When you said the tennis player is on the left and you want to hit it to the right side down the line it clicked. If I try to paint the corners on a tennis court I get it! Now I can also gather and release.

    Thanks 🙂

Great video. I use the interlock grip and I never realized that I was interlocking to deep causing the club to move out of my fingers

Can you suggest some Tasks for putting?

That is a perfect task on it’s own! BUT YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE PUTTING VIDEOS ON PREMIUM to be able to just let the weight of the arm-putter unit roll the ball into the picture.

  • From Andy Bryan on KINETIC CHAIN FACILITATION #2 ONE LEG SWING

I may be crazy, but I just observed a distinct similarity between the one leg drill and the diagonal stance. Both seem to allow one more ease in allowing the arms full access to the backswing.
