  • From MARK MULHERIN on Grip & Arm Motion

Hi Shawn, just joined your site after watching video bout trying to hit driver only 175 yds. After seeing the young lady swing at 100 mph, I really think I am capable of doing that. I am 67 and typically score in the mid 80’s from the senior tees. Accuracy with the driver is not an issue, but a typical drive for me is 220-230 ;yds. Funny thing though, I hit a drive the other week of 265 yds. and have no idea how. How would you suggest I navigate through your site, and can you recommend any videos that may help with distance off of the tee.
    Thanks,

      Hey Mark! Ok, good stuff!
see the senior series first; then “lead hand release”, “trail hand release”, “release fine tuning” and “snap release polish. Once you have a good feel, see “turbo charge lead hand and trail hand release” videos and then the “throw the club” and the “throwing series”. You will then be ready for the “kinetic chain” and “kinetic chain engagement” series followed by the “goldie locks” series and “predict contact” and “pumping up the volume or swing” videos. Got some great stuff for you!!👍😀💪

Great video. Does the clubhead lag during the takeaway for all 14 clubs? Does it lag the same amount for each club, or if not, what factors affect the amount of proper clubhead lag? Thank you.

What chip or pitch shot would dictate a steeper swing?
    Thanks….great video as usual.

Not many; you would be following the slope with uphill and downhill chips; the only time you would HAVE to, is when the backswing is blocked by a tree or a lip of a bunker…

  • From Rob Figenbaum on PERPETUAL MOTION DRILL DRIVER! PART 1

Hi Shawn, relatively new to the site. Trying to really get more consistency with my golf game. I had been following another golf pro but just was not really getting anywhere and think I had too much crap in my head. So far with what I have seen the results have been better. I did like this video as I try and tame my drive from the dreaded slice. Figuring I was OTT. Gonna keep working at it. Is there any specific order to follow this site and the categories in. I have jumped around a bit from Drills to swings. As a 54 year old guy time is running out LOL

Hey Rob! For driver slice issues, please see the first video in the consistency series for the “grip club relationship” and then see “lead hand release”, “trail hand release”, “release fine tuning” and snap release polish” to then go to “great driver nugget” and “the diagonal stance series” and use the “arc-blur” and “unstoppable momentum” videos to iron the rest of it out. Enjoy!!

Hi Shawn. Your video’s on release have helped me a lot. I have recently switched to hitting a fade with my irons because I am more consistent with it. I tend to still hit a straighter ball or draw my driver. Do I need to change my release for my irons or driver. I’m am just wondering because I fade my irons and tend to draw my driver. Thanks.

Sounds like you already have it figured out 👍😀
stay with what you are doing and go score a bit with it; are you getting the flights and consistency you are looking for with both?

Yes. I do tend to have some trouble with my driver. Do you have any videos about hitting a fade qith a driver?

    • From Shawn Clement on Release Fine Tuning

There you go; the most preferred flight plan for the driver on tour is the power fade which is a low spinning and high launching shot that just fits the natural side vision tendencies of the human machine. See “great driver nugget” first and then see the “diagonal stance series” where there is fades and draws with the driver. See also “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning”

Shawn, I have seen your content over the last 15 years or so and just joined your premium sight as I have had to give up tennis and am now focusing just on golf. Here is the preface for my question: On the irons/hybrids I find that I grip neutral about 20 deg. closed before I get behind the ball to hit basically straight. However on the Driver, which I play pretty much off the ball of the foot, I find that I grip neutral about 45 deg. closed before I get behind the ball to hit basically straight.Question: Is that OK/why and/or should I be adjusting my driver setup to also be 20 deg. open at setup? Thanks, Ron

    Shawn:
Last drive of the rd today I threw into a natural patented Shawn Clement twirl follow thru does that indicate I am making progress? It was my best drive of the rd

Great stuff Steven! It means you had more follow through that had to be dissipated in a way not to injure you; and that means the kinetic chain engaged nicely and got you well through the shot into the picture! 👍😀💪

  • From [email protected] on ARC- BLUR KINETIC CHAIN | WOODS AND DRIVER - GREAT SWING SEQUENCE TOO!

Two questions: 1) I am down to heave and throw to the target for me and I like stamping the back foot to initiate the heave and the front foot to initiate the throw. Question 1) Is that OK? Question 2) When I set an intermediate point from behind the ball and then set up, it looks so off that I lose confidence in my direction. It also happens when I putt. And as a consequence I have a bad shot. I have learned over the years to just line up at the target which works great for me. It may be because I am very much left eye dominate so much so that the intermediate point just looks so off that it does not match my mental picture. Your thoughts?

  • From [email protected] on DIAGONAL STANCE PART 2-IRONS AND WORKING THE BALL!

After finding myself losing balance during my swings, I decided to try diagonal stance once again – wow, it really frees up the backswing and make me brace to target better as I can make it feel like the One leg drill. Hitting it one club further as a result! 🙂 Done it for more than a week now. Thanks for the insight!

How does the task change when the “sand” is really just wet or hard packed, eg almost dirt or mud hardpan? (I play some cheap courses…lol)?

    • From Shawn Clement on Greenside Bunkers

As long as it’s SAND and not CLAY, you keep the task the same; if clay, you do same task at 50% intensity.

Hi Shawn!!! Great video! But could you PLEASE do detailed video on baton twirl? I think baton twirl motion is realy important in golf swing and it is totally different from just moving arms back and forth. thank you! Vaclav

Shawn, I’m swearing with my inside voice, should have watched this video before. I know the content is there in other videos but sometimes it takes some different packaging to resonate. One day a couple of one on one lessons would be great. Too bad we are passing through Quebec City tonight.

Shawn, we are sightseeing and depart Saturday morning. My clubs are at home as golf was not the trip focus 🙁 Quebec is a beautiful city and only 4 1/2 hours from Ottawa.

  • From Brian O'Hara on Pre-Round Warm Up

Hey Shawn, I know it’s a big no-no, but often times it happens, going to first tee with no balls hit first. Any tips on warm up and prep when you don’t have time or course doesn’t have a range for ‘normal’ warmup hitting balls?
    Thx,
Brian (new member 8/1/21 and loving instructions so far!)

Use the “Goldie Locks” series and imagine and visualise and hear and feel what would happen when going through a couple practice swings over every shot. Lowering expectations will help as well! 😝😀

Callaway Jaws MD5, 60 degrees loft, 8 degrees bounce, C grind. Very important details for the lob wedge! In the Vokey, it is the M-grind, same bounce and loft
