Yes thats the one Shaun. The confirmation of the too loose grip I was talking about. Trick for me is to still do that and maintain loose wrists or I will push it. 👍

Secure grip but able to let the weight of the club release your anatomy fully like in all the release videos; you need solid G force for that and “feet together back to feet apart” and “pumping up the volume” videos as well as “kinetic chain facilitation” series with the “2021 Off season training series” (first 4-5 videos) will more than do the trick! 😀👍

Shaun I was happy to hear your discussion about gripping too tight that your draw shot would not come back. I had let my grip get too weak and it has allowed me to strike my irons crisp and actually have a draw. With my driver it’s been more difficult to make the draw happen. I think my pressure is correct because I am hitting it solid and my wrists are turning over. Sometimes I get that knuckle ball nose dive left. Could I have the ball too far forward in my stance? I moved the ball back some and that seemed to help a little. Need more exploration, but I know it’s close.

I would check out my “driver for accuracy shawn clement” video on youtube and see how you do with that first; then gradually raise the ball up on the tee and increase tilt and a bit of ball position.

It feels more natural to have the strong hammer grip with my lead hand using my irons but with my driver it feels a bit unnatural. Question: Is there any change in the fundamentals of the grip between irons and driver?

    • From Shawn Clement on The Grip

Depending on the shaft and head specs, some of my students need to open the face more with driver and some need to close more; what matters is when you deliver your action easily and freely into the direction you want the ball to start, that the ball flies in the air the way you want it to. So the same rules apply in the “goldie locks series” on grip and club face angle and in the “draw fine tuning” video.

  • From [email protected] on HOW TO STOP PUSHING WITH RIGHT HAND

Exactly how it feels to me with my pinkey betweenthe index finger and the middle finger. I put my rt ring finger on top of the index finger on the lead hand. Great for when I start pushing with the rt hand. Practice or even while playing. I always go back to my standard overlap grip when the pushing stops. Super video for us rt side hammer throwers.

It is all about removing the strain from the arms and placing the emphasis on a sound kinetic chain. See the “kinetic chain facilitation series” now to keep the ball rolling! 😀👍

  • From Greg Schwenk on SWING PATH- ACROSS THE LINE vs LAID OFF

Shawn, where do you aim your club face for a draw and a fade? Are you aiming at the target where you want the ball to end up or are aiming down the line you want your ball to start on?

    • From Shawn Clement on SWING PATH- ACROSS THE LINE vs LAID OFF

Hi Greg! Haha, this is the old way of thinking STATICALLY about it. If you see the first video in the consistency series, you will see that the look of the face at address is nothing like what it looks like at impact where it is way more open than at address WHEN DELIVERING THE BALL TO YOUR TARGET. See “the goldie locks series” for the grip and club face portion and the “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning”

  • From Matt Davis on DIAGONAL STANCE SERIES PART 1

Hi Shawn. After a great period of ball striking I’ve come to a point where I’ve become too focussed on set up positioning which had bled into my dynamic swinging of the club..
Being conscious of staying behind the ball can sometimes be an issue where I don’t release over and through the target..
I’ve always loved the idea of straight lines in my set up to ensure consistent ball positioning, but staying too ‘straight’ sometimes doesn’t help me stay behind it and on task.
Does this diagonal set up help you and Sav stay with the shot through your intermediate point?

Hey Matt! What you want to see is “blur of club” and all the videos with the words “arc blur” in them. The arc of the swing is where it is at and the brain has an awesome ability to stay centred inside this arc especially WHEN THERE IS A SPECIFIC DIRECTION TO STAY ON. Savy’s task is to throw the club through this arc into the direction she wants the start the ball.

  • From Yann Gauthier on UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM SERIES: PART 6 - FEET TOGETHER

Good afternoon, this is the third time that I’m watching this video. Been trying this drill yesterday and really struggling. My knees are doing the Elvis move, my weight is off balance to the front and my body is lifting through impact resulting in thin shots. Guess I have a few things to learn from this drill. 😉

Hi Yann! Go to the original video called “feet together drill” on premium and then try the “one leg drill” and see which one you do best. Then perfect that and then search all the “turn-tilt-head-hips” videos from the search box for extra help on that.

  • From [email protected] on KINETIC CHAIN FACILITATION #6 SENDING DIVOTS!

Hey Shawn hope your well. I have just recently started back playing golf after a good few years out. I have joined back up to the premium channel . I somehow always end up coming back to your teaching. I am going to find somewhere to have a go at this divot drill. When i’m playing i never take divot’s always pick the ball off clean. I am sure this is robbing me of compression and distance. One question i do have. I came to see you some years back on your road trip to the UK at the Forest of Arden course. You spoke about possibly finding someone to take up your coaching system here in the UK . Did you ever go forward with it?

  • From Taeyoon Kim on Driver

    Hi Shawn.

At driver address, the face of driver should be closed or opened like “Working the ball” lesson? It works very well to me for iron swing, draw and fade.
In many driver lessons here, you seem not caring the degree of driver face for draw or fade except the direction of target. the face seems square to me so… I am a little confused.

I wish you understand my trouble on driver- working the ball.

    • From Shawn Clement on Driver

Woods are a different story than irons and some students need to close more and some less and for the camera it always looks bizarre because the face of the club is mot flat, it is rounded off. Use the “goldie locks” for your personal needs with the woods and driver.

  • From Andrew Adkins on Arm Swing vs Body Turn

2 points of clarification in this video, 1: Should we be thinking of the swing as more of a pendulum and does that feeling of more of an upright pendulum carry over to longer clubs or should the longer clubs feel more of a baseball style plane? 2: I noticed how much you bobbed up and down. Is this motion of extending in the backswing, collecting the ground in the downswing, extending in the follow through, a feeling we should be focused on or a byproduct of the task at hand? Thanks!

Hey Andrew! For question 1 see “the throwing series” and for question 2 see “feet together back to feet apart” and “pumping up the swing volume” and “kinetic chain facilitation series” where you will see my favourite at #6! 😀👍 and you will realize it is a byproduct of you staying on the task while ridding yourself of the old “gotta stay level” myths…We are very much built for this and are experts at this BIG TIME!

Hi Shawn, Any chance, now that you all are indoors for the winter, that you guys can put the dots on your clubs so we can see club head speed and club head angle at contact? You are so precise and I very between 5 and 10 degrees. I’d like to better understand what you are consistently hitting. Thx.

This is a great video, a lot to think about in there. Especially using your weight to compress the ball. I have being working on my compression so I will try to put this into action.

  • From Donald Moir on UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM SERIES: PART 7 - THROUGH TILT

Fairway wood ball position with Mu: this video gives the clearest demonstration of that difference for fade vs neutral vs draw intent. Helpful. From other videos on the topic, in setting up for draw with FW, following the instructions, I’ve usually ended up feeling that the ball position was a hair too far back — but it’s subtle — maybe a 1/2 ball width. Finding the fade position comes easier for me with this club (3w; 15 degrees).
