Hola, excelente clase!! La verdad es que cuando siento mi grip bien, el swing sale muy natural y efectivo. Me podrás dar algún ejercicio para poder repetir el grip en forma adecuada por favor? Gracias!

    Hi Shawn

I’m invested in the strong grip, and with about 33 degrees closed I can work a beautiful left handed draw without making body adjustments ie swinging closed.

I’m having a little trouble with the swing when I change to squaring up, mainly with hooky 5 6 iron up to driver. Any videos you could recommend to help me line up better?

This platform is awesome, keep up the great work

Awesome Mark thank you. Now when you talk about squaring up, is that the stance of the club face? As for alignment, the incredibly valuable “alignment reload” and “alignment reset” series are super key!! Then for the hooks, you want to feel that the momentum of the swing is releasing you into the direction of flight past the intermediate point. See “target confirmation series” and the “arc blur unstoppable momentum series”

Thank you so much for the quick response, I will get on those videos straight away. By squaring up i mean when I get behind the hit, I think I may be getting too low on the trail shoulder. I think ill get a swing analysis once we get to off season, keep on the right track.

If I use hammer drill with two hands and I pound a nail vertically down and then I set up behind the ball to hit nail into wall or door frame I feel like it causes me to slightly rotate wrists in CW position putting my lead hand more on top. This is what my earlier question was about. I have been watching your videos for at 10 or 12 years . I have watched most of the premium series. I am in my seventies but as many people have commented that I don’t swing like I’m that old. I owe a majority of what I do right in my golf (putting ,chipping ,driving and being able to to draw or fade the ball the majority of the time All due to your teachings )
But I have struggled with irons since trying to use Sav’s grip. Some days great but others not so much Unable to predict day to day

Ok, there is a case where you can overdo the strength of the grip; you don’t want to feel that you have to hang onto the release or else hook the ball. When you do PMD drill, you want to be able to feel the weight of the club release you freely in both directions; send me a clip of your swing face on and down the line so I can see it for myself? Hey shawn, been look at videos of my swing and at the very top i tend to have an over flexed wrist which is pointing the club down. It’s very cupped. Is there tips for getting this fixed.

Mine does too; I don’t need fixing at all!! Are you struggling with shots going too far right or slicing?

Good point. Actually hitting the ball pretty good lately. Mostly fighting hooks and pulls at times but blur of club focus and target bound focus has helped that alot. I guess it i should not foucus on textbook my swing looks if the ball flight is good.

Everyone’s anatomy has their own particularities and everyone has their own abilities to let go of the swing and let gravity take over; what matters is what is the ball doing when you allow the momentum to deliver the release into the flight plan! 👊👍🔥

Shawn do you have a video on how to correct toe hits, specifically with woods [ toes shanks].

Christian! See “football drill series” and combine that with “blur of club and arc blur unstoppable momentum series” as well as the incredibly important “alignment reset” series for resetting your side vision which has a high influence on undesired path in the swing!

Shawn had a pretty significant lightbulb when you shared this video!

I think it even answers my Q in the forum

I’ve been rolling the face open a little in the takeaway, so the whole “let the arms fall “ or “match the backswing to the direction of the IP” never really clicked because my face was just wide open, even w a strong grip

The sensation of keeping the toe of the club turned down in the takeaway so the entire club face is matching the direction I want the ball to go is huge. I don’t feel that rolling motion anymore, and the club being square the entire time is a totally foreign concept to me

But I totally get all the times you’ve talked about letting the arms fall. When I keep the club square in the takeaway (and the whole swing), my lead arm is forced to rotate in its socket, because the forearm didn’t do the job for it.

This keeps my shoulders on a steeper plane instead of turning very flat, which prevents excess arm lift, which gets me into the slot better (backswing slot, I even thought it was odd my upper shoulder was crashing into my chin and blocking my vision of the ball sometimes!) , which allows the arms to levitate up naturally and allows my brain to tune into the weight of the club

I can be as wide and relaxed as I want with this feeling and gravity will start the downswing for me. When I was bunched up there was no momentum in the machine

Long rambling post but feeling gravity start that downswing for me is a new sensation!

  • From Larry Zack on WISDOM 2.0 SEEING WHERE THE CLUB IS PASSING

Would you say that the angle of one’s posture will change per club length or it’s only the distance from the ball? I’ve read different opinions

    Go to comment
    • From Shawn Clement on WISDOM 2.0 SEEING WHERE THE CLUB IS PASSING

The posture mostly will stay the same; the distance from hands to body gets closer with short clubs and farther away with longer clubs and the width of stance will widen a bit with longer clubs to accommodate the wider arc. See “predict contact” and the “ goldilocks series”

  • From Matthew Costello on PERPETUAL MOTION DRILL DRIVER! PART 1

Shawn, been revisiting the PMD in conjunction with the release work you’ve had me doing

There’s a specific feel I have sometimes that I can only describe as the club head is always behind my hands in both directions and when it “releases” it’s “jumping” over my hands into a leading position

So on the backswing / takeaway it’s slightly outside my hands, as the release in the backswing occurs around 4 o clock the club head jumps “behind” my hands. Then the downswing my hands lead the trailing clubhead through impact and then it jumps to the other side again at 8 o clock

The sensation of its sort of being towed through the impact zone by the kinetic chain and always remaining behind my hands.

Is this what you’re seeking ?

I just wanted to tell the WIG world that I had a 220 yard drive two days ago. My longest are 200. First drive of that day and nothing that distance since (lol) but encouraging.

Congrats on the new benchmark Krista! Now that the brain has it, it will continue to organize around getting it more for you. You got a good dose of dopamine on that one and that is the breadcrumb trail it will use to get it back; the key is stay with the process and don’t try hard or try to repeat! 😝

I have been watching for a couple of months now and have been making improvements to my swing. I loved you story about the Dart throwing and after watching this one on the backswing I can honestly say the dispersion of my shots is getting tighter! however I lost some distance due to also putting a pause at the top of my swing which has forced me to slow down in my downswing and get to the ground before easier and not over rotate. I love the accuracy but need to now work on getting distance back. Suggestions?

Also my driver swing has gone off a bit and need to refine that to get rid of a slice that has come in along with a lower ball flight and sometimes hitting the ball at the very top of the club at times.

Hey Joe! Normal at first as you are controlling the action and this is like driving your car with the foot on the brakes and on the gas at the same time. See “driver tip of tee” video as well as “alignment reset” series, “blur of club” and “arc-blur unstoppable momentum series”

    Hi Shawn,

When you are setting up to your ball are you placing more weight on your front foot, in order to ensure that your weight shift to the rear and then back to the front?

    Go to comment
    • From Shawn Clement on Trust Your Swing

Hi Robert! Yes, just like in the “perpetual motion drill series” we are in the “follow through” at address and in the process of letting momentum come into the backswing, which requires the right leg and foot to secure the ground and remove the body out of the way to gather wide and up into the backswing and then during the weightless transition, the brain grabs the ground with the lead leg (trail leg accommodates this and squats with it) to prepare to allow momentum to release us into the direction of flight.

  • From Matthew Costello on New WIG Task | Frisbee Throwing

This is a great task Shawn. I still can get the arms a bit too far across my body in the backswing, and I instinctually stop the rotation and end up cutting across the ball. This shows up under the gun when trying to “make sure”. Played 9 holes with this tonight and hit 7 greens and shot +1. Even as a trail hand dominant player this is viable. Good stuff! Really got a full turn for me and was hitting my normal distances with way less effort and no over the top misses

In the middle of a series of practice right now where I am doing 15-nine irons, 15 six irons, 15 hybrids and 15 drivers for 15 days straight and the learning is quite interesting as I stay with the same task of sending divots on the irons and hybrid and sending tee tips into forward summersaults with the driver WITH MOMENTUM ONLY. The off season series starting in November will be epic!
