I have been struggling to release the club This video may have just turned the light on for me. I’m thinking stick the landing with lead hand follow thru. Was consistently hitting my target on my practice net. Will see how it goes at the range and course.
Meant to say trail hand. ☺️
Hi Steven! Good stuff! See also the “turbo charge the trail hand release” and the “turbo charge the lead hand release”; these are prime time! 😀👍
Hi Shawn,
I have worked on this and the lead hand release the last weeks as you advised in my video review. It seems like my ball contact is closer to the heel now and I am producing more shanks.
The distance to the ball at address seems to be fine.
What could be the reason?
Thanks,
Knut
Hi Knut! The “football drill series” and the “throwing series” are key as well as the “blur of club” and the “arc-blur unstoppable momentum series” and you want to combine this with the “goldie locks series” in regards to distance to ball. Set up to throw the club through the arc and in the direction of the IP and predict that you will strike the ball in the toe of the club if you do. Then see if you do or not. The key is to stay with the throw in that direction and see what happens to the contact AFTER THE FACT.
I kept the driver face straight and then setup with radius and Ulna I get a perfect power fade. This is exciting for me because I had a hard time fading with any control
thanks
George
Thats exciting George! Power fades are great “bread and butter” shots and are the backbone of scoring!
This video and “Lead Hand Release” video are gold! Do you recommend trying both lead hand and trail hand release analogies and then using one or the other, or do you recommend ultimately trying to blend both together? Is there any advantage to blending the two in terms of distance or ball contact? Or is it better to just find the one, lead or trail, that resonates the best with the individual as either will lead to a good result?
Thanks,
Coachcohn
Ps. Stay low and flatten the curve!
Shawn, This was an awesome video lesson for me! I took this lesson to the range and ball flight was straight with improved distance however I noticed that I am kinda hitting more down on the ball and not really slicing thru the dandelion stem. I have heard it said one should hit down on the ball so now wondering if this is ok or should I now try to focus more on cutting the stem next time on the range? BTW: Since taking your class in Tampa this January 2020 where you changed me to a strong carpenter grip and coupling that with your on-line lessons I feel that I am finally making very good progress. Thanks! “Steve the Carpenter”.
Right on Steve! Cutting through the stem IS HITTING DOWN AND THROUGH THE BALL! 👍😀
It is simply hitting down the correct amount! Stay with what you are doing with that release, it is the same release you would have when cutting through that stem. Everything we talk about is meant to arrive at the same place. 😀👍
