Is there a task or drill that will help me use the ground better?
Hi Justin! If the search box does not bring it up, the best videos for this are the “grass whip training” and the “2 tee drill” videos which will take the topping right out! Then see “predict contact” and “the goldie locks series”
You bet! See “feet together back to feet apart” (huge missing piece from youtube) and “pumping up the volume” as well as “turbo charge the lead hand release” and “turbo charge the trail hand release”
Shawn, I stumbled into something I wanted to share. My favorite analogy right now is cutting grass. While hitting balls off a mat I rolled a ball that ended up towards the front part of the mat. For some reason I addressed the ball and my front foot ended up being right on the edge of the mat. I took a nice easy cut of the grass and just striped the ball. I now fell like I’m cutting grass off the edge of a canyon. I finish into a solid right side ( I’m left handed). It’s like your old braced tilt videos!
Hey Scott! Sounds like my oldie but goodie videos called “stop topping and take better divots shawn clement part 1-2”
I can’t seem to find the stop topping videos… do you have a link I can reference? Thanks!
Shawn,
When cutting grass with the tees I seem to cut grass on the correct side of the tees going forward but when coming back the club brushes grass in various locations. Should i worry as much about the backward grass cutting?
Yes!! You want to be able to perform that in both directions! When you let it fall in both directions, do not “make sure” to hit any spots on the ground; just let the arms and club fall into the finish and into the backswing and just observe where it hits.
A great back up to understand this further is the “battering ram” and the “lead hand release” and “trail hand release” and “release fine tuning” videos on premium. That sword drill in those videos will get you the feel in both directions!
Shawn how should I pick which tasks to use on a hole by hole basis? I’m a high handicapper that has difficulty shaping shots outside of my primary shot shape(which has changed from a draw to a fade this season). Recently I’ve just played the whole round with the same task vs varying it from hole to hole. Which would you recommend?
You can easily stay with the same task for a while so you can perfect and master it; then figure out the shots you are having issues with and see the “matching task to shot” videos; good stuff!
I am trying to find the lesson/drill entitled Anti Manipulation. I entered that into the search item without a successful result. Any additional advice on how to find the anti manipulation segment
Thank you
If you go to member home and use the video list; it is about mid way down next to Genius of Gabriele Wulf.
