Hi Shawn. Your video’s on release have helped me a lot. I have recently switched to hitting a fade with my irons because I am more consistent with it. I tend to still hit a straighter ball or draw my driver. Do I need to change my release for my irons or driver. I’m am just wondering because I fade my irons and tend to draw my driver. Thanks.
Sounds like you already have it figured out 👍😀
stay with what you are doing and go score a bit with it; are you getting the flights and consistency you are looking for with both?
Yes. I do tend to have some trouble with my driver. Do you have any videos about hitting a fade qith a driver?
There you go; the most preferred flight plan for the driver on tour is the power fade which is a low spinning and high launching shot that just fits the natural side vision tendencies of the human machine. See “great driver nugget” first and then see the “diagonal stance series” where there is fades and draws with the driver. See also “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning”
Love the release videos. However, I feel like I have to slow myself down in order to achieve the release. I am trail hand dominate. When I attempt to release by simply allowing the momentum of the club to fall (and not slow myself down), I tend to hit my irons thin. Any suggestions?
You bet! See the “2 tee drill” video series and the latest “task update” for starters and let me know how that works for you!
2 tee drill worked great!! Practice and played the past two days and hit it beautifully! Plan on using that drill in my back yard. Only issue now is hitting the high draw with the driver. I get could height, solid contact and good distance; however, the ball flies straight and doesn’t turn over. Any lessons I should review?
Actually, just did a youtube video that is right up that alley; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDLs2SC-yQE
the higher you want to hit it, the more closed the face…😀👍
Bingo!!! The youtube video did the trick. High draw is in the quiver. After about two weeks of working on how much to close the face, the high draw has become so reliable, it’s been my go to shot off the tee the last few weeks. Thank you very much!!!
We have your 6 Keith! 💪😀👍
Hi Shawn, Please excuse my English (hopefully, you’ll understand what I’m trying to ask here). Just wondering if you could do a super slow motion video of a full swing (for both iron & driver) from the front angle (where the back side of the camera points straight to the target). So we can see your lead & trail hand release action in a real swing, I’m especially interested to see how they move during the downswing, and from release to finish.
Note: I see that you showed that action a little bit around @5:25 on this clip, but not really in a full swing. Or if you already have what I’m asking for on another clip, please let me know.
Thank you for your passion in this sport!!!
Thank you for the comment and noted! 👍👍
How in the world would a good Canadian boy not know the call for a delay of game penalty????
Haha! Only watched hockey until 1986! Then just got too busy teaching 12 hours a day and kinda forgot! 😝
Other than putting, is there any other shot/swing in golf in which this release doesn’t happen? Eg sand shots, chip shots. Or should I be feeling this release in some degree in all shots?
Any shot where you have activated and loaded the second pendulum; chips and putts are a no because there is no release and bunker shots are full swing fades and get a full release; it’s just that the face is much more open to activate the sole’s grind and bounce for spraying sand!
