I played my weekly round of golf yesterday and used your release/wait swing thought. That slight wait does create an effortless opportunity for the club to switch from backswing to downswing. I hit two really pure iron shots to the green thanks to this concept. The improvement in my accuracy with the driver did not disappear since last week’s round either. Feeling a bit like a golfer instead of a goofer.
Shawn. Followed you a long time. Stopped playing two years. Now 84 yes 84 and TYRING to come into game again. Few back issues so do you have ant empathetic suggestion and / or adjustments to your program I might consider. Shorter swing and so forth
Hi Len! Welcome back! Now as far as the swing goes with us, what is important to know is that we always use momentum to deliver through the ball and intermediate points and into the direction we want to start the ball. Series to look into for you are the “senior series” and the “diagonal stance series” which would help you with range of motion in the backswing. Keep us posted! Shawn
The rotation of the hands in the backswing. If we are using your newest discovery in the grip (closed clubface with a neutral grip), do the hands still rotate going back?

This was a wow moment from my first swing analysis. Feeling the club release me was the major takeaway. Incredible snap / sound off the club face and was absolutely mashing the ball. Great stuff as always Shawn!!! This is in the favorites!
Well I’m new to the channel and just watched a few vids on the grip. Now getting +10 m on my irons with less effort. I now know I shot putt the club! Makes total sense. Can’t wait to try that new info out on the range. When will I stop getting better??
Haha, never of course! The improvements are organic! The science tells us if you practice throwing darts towards the bulls eye, 1 hour per day for 15 days, you get 15% more accurate. If you focus on repeating the same manipulations in the arm to send the dart, you go backwards by 23%. This is the only way; period!

So with fairway woods and hybrids you’re more focused on a flatter swing towards the target rather than send grass clippings followed by divot as with the irons. Will there be enough momentum to get adequate distance since the wrists don’t release lag until after impact?
We are not talking about a huge difference here; so all things considered it will still feel like a nice “throw”-“slash”-“release of the lasso” etc! 😀👍
Shawn – are you telling us that we will need to determine through practice how far to close each club in order to hit it straight or to hit it as a draw each time? We don’t get 3-4 shots each time to hit the green with a 7 iron.

You need to get past the “static way of doing things” and get into the “when I let momentum release me in that direction, it feels like the grip-club relationship will allow the ball to come back on target” then all you have after that is let momentum go and SEE WHAT HAPPENS; you keep doing that, and 2 weeks later you will be 15% more accurate and building a swing that will never fall apart; just keep staying with the process; science is BIG TIME with us!
One tendency i have a hard time fighting is over extending my arms in the down swing. Hard to explain but basically my arms are swinging out beyond the ball, which makes me have to compensate at the last minute to get the head back to the ball. This causes a hard draw, in to out path but but over closing the face.
Any pointers on getting the arms to fall closer to my body?
The flagstick or fairway or wherever I’m trying to send the ball. I just have a hard time with reaching out to far with my arms in the swing. I just watched another video about arms but still working on finding a drill for arms coming more down and not out. Kettle bell os helping but could use more direction.

Hi Shawn, in more recent videos I noticed you and Mu are tapping your trail foot to get the swing started, and it seems that you have done this now repeatedly, so my question is whether that is now ingrained for you or if each time that is just what happens, thanks!
Hi Jared! Yes, this is what happens when you feel that the momentum is coming from your follow through and back into the backswing at address (meaning you never feel stopped and needing to think about something to start-see “prepetual motion drill series” and “momentum already there before you start the swing” series which is our latest one)
Hi Nancy! It is not a necessity for the short game, however, Savannah loves her strong grip on all shots except putting. She just opens the face more so it’s slightly open at address and this is what matters as you don’t want to have the leading edge of the club dig into the ground as you chip and pitch. See what works best for you!
Shawn – my struggle is I get in good sandbag tossing posture then get over the ball and hunch down which means there is no room for my elbows. Any suggestions or videos? I’ve already used the football videos very helpful anything else? Thanks

Thanks Shawn- it’s getting down to the ball that’s the issue above the ball posture is good and I can do perpetual motion drill but then I change my angles as I get down to the ball and my elbows then have no room
When you feel this way, ate you getting ready to throw the club to the target or are you feeling you have no room to hit AT THE BALL? 😝
there is a big difference of where the trail elbow will extend depending upon what your focus is! Also, when doing the “predict contact” and “goldie locks series” with levels, when you perform the intentional thin shot, do you get flush? And if you perform the intentional toe shot, do you get flush? See about those too and get back to me! ! 👍👍
Thanks so much for the detailed reply Shawn nobody provides the detailed responses that you do shows your genuine commitment to your students! All those drills work for me sometimes. It’s that other times I lower myself to the ball by bending my upper body hunching over and literally blocking myself so I can’t swing no room! So even if my focus is good my set up doesn’t permit a swing my elbows can’t go. I see in your posture video you talk about lowering to the ball by bending the knees more and sticking out your rear. Is there a video on keeping the machine intact as you prepare to swing? My posture is always good as I take my practice swing above the ball and so I have full freedom but I lower myself the last few inches incorrectly and change everything. Any advice other than lower by bending knees and sticking rear end out thanks
