    I am new to the sight, have been using rotary swing, top speed golf and my local golftec, too many positions and thoughts. This makes so much more sense. I love the feel of the the heavy rope drill. So times, however, I find myself lowering in the backswing which makes stepping in the forward swing difficult. I would appreciate your insight. I would also like to know how to send you video and if there are any 3 day or weekend clinics I could attend or how you schedule lessons

      As for the lowering, please see “mile markers for balance shawn clement” video on premium and please never try to keep the head down!

    Hi Shawn
    Finn from Germany

    one question. is ther a big difference in the amount of bace and tilt between a sandiron an a 7 iron?

    • From Shawn Clement on Braced Tilt

      Hi Finn!
      No, not much! The only reason why you would have a little bit less with the wedge is that the width of the stance is a little bit narrower; which will not allow you to brace and tilt as much as the 7;

    Sean, do you realize that you bend you knees (dip) just before you swing? Is this just a quirk for you?

    Shawn- I love the videos you put out. My question is I have a more upright 1 plane swing and I am wondering if what you teach is still applicable to someone who swings like me?

      One plane-2 plane is all interpretations; the question is which backswing will allow you to deliver through the ball and in the direction you want the ball to start without any steering-guiding-shoving…
      The backswing that gets the job done effortlessly and without manipulation wins! 🙂

    Well kids of old new “Simon says” and they played that silly game. I’m telling everyone “Shawn says” and you’re right man, when I’m lining up for a shot I have your voice and your analogies in my mind helping me. In 3 months on premium and 2 swing analyses, my ball striking, distance and control have improved significantly. You have totally changed the way I approach the game of golf and it’s never been so enjoyable. Cheers mate, really love your work and at US$9.99/ month, for all the vids, swing analysis and feedback, it’s worth every cent. And give Matt some kudos as well for the improved quality over time, from the old YouTube vids to this one today. Well done mate.

      My ipad has been sticking; and it is driving me nuts leaving a trail of words with missing letters; and the worst part is the “clicking sound” it makes is there when you tap the letter! but no letter…oooooo…count to 10…😝

      There is a setting that can turn off the keyboard sounds and eliminate the “clicking sound”.

    Hi again Shawn, I went to Goodwill and purchased three 5 irons for 5 bucks. Got home and started tossing them at different targets. Each toss seemed to go really low so I started looking at clouds in the sky above my targets! Whoa!!! Took that mentality to the course and ripped the ball for a 62 yr old fart! Drove a 310 and 322yd par 4 and just missed a hole in one by 1 foot from 216yds with my 4 iron on a par 3!! Butch Who??

    Hi Shawn, I struggle a bit on determining a “task” for the woods and the driver.

      Peel carrots with fairway woods and peel the tip of the tee off towards the target with the driver!

    The task of peeling the carrot , does the start of the peel start where the dandelion stem is ?

    Go to comment
    • From Shawn Clement on Top 3 Tasks

      Hi Philip! Yes! The stem of the dandelion is in the centre of the ball; so you will always catch ball first when you make the proper prediction based on sending the carrot peel to the target with a nice whip! See “predict contact” video on premium.

      Shawn have you ever had a student visualize cutting through the grass on the front side of the ball? I was having trouble as I was consistently hitting the big green ball before the small white one even though I was focusing on cutting the grass, peeling the carrot or squeezing through the door frame just behind the ball. For some reason shifting my focus on sending a peel of grass from just in front of the ball took the ball out of the back of my mind while thinking throwing the club to the target. By focusing on the sliver of grass in front of the ball it made me achieve flush contact much more consistently. Any thoughts on why that might be?

      Also, have you ever had somebody achieve a better result with lag and release by thinking throw the hands at the target? This picture seemed to help me get the result easier for some reason. I was beginning to think I was defective until I modified my focus just a bit on the tasks. Just wondering if you find others that don’t get it right away and maybe have to modify the tasks to meet their individual mental picture. I sure enjoy watching your work. Many thanks for putting it on the shelf so folks like me can reach it!

  • From [email protected] on Fairway Woods & Hybrids

    Shawn,
    I noticed the brace and tilt set up on woods and drivers just like irons. However, shaft does not lean as much as irons cuz of length of shaft on woods, hybrids and driver. My question is with these longer shafted clubs do i still use a 20-30 degree closed face similiar to irons and will shaft still lead like irons to square face at impact? Am i missing something?

    Go to comment
    • From Shawn Clement on Fairway Woods & Hybrids

      Not as much shaft lean because of ball position is more forward; that is all;
      Some woods don’t need to be closed as much because they are already draw biased; and because the face of the club is rounded, it looks more open than what it is…WHAT IS IMPORTANT is that when you release the swing in the direction you want the ball to start, you see the ball fly the way you want it to! 😀👍
