When you plan to hit a draw, and you say close the face a little, how do you do that? Do you use a stronger grip (see 4 knuckles of left hand)? Or something else like use the standard 3 knuckles and really close the club face at address? Thanks.
See “weak grip vs strong grip shawn clement” on youtube; also see the other grip videos on premium; you must let go of the grip, turn the handle and then re-grip. Will feel different big time but it will not prevent you fro whipping!
Thank you Shawn 😊 When i’m playing i just try to stay in my task. I can’t effect my score, but i can try to stay in my task 👍 It’s gravity fault if i don’t get good score 😜
Love the sledgehammer or lumberjack drill. You know right away if you’re using too much effort and manipulating or just swinging and letting it go. it was really eye opening for me the first few times i tried it.
This is the video and drill that did it for me. For 15 years I’ve been seeking the consistent feel of compression. I’ve played to a 5 handicap for years but never pured the ball. My irons never went as far as my hybrids and woods. I just couldn’t get the left side to plant…I kept swaying a bit and my arms initiated the swing. This changed everything for me, and I’ve watched and tried every one of your videos and drills. The past week I’ve really braced my left side and kicked my hip out, which forces me to move to my left side on the downswing. I had 2 of our pros come by at different times this week to comment on the sound my irons were making. They were amazed at how smooth my swing was and how almost every shot was nutted. This video did it for me. Truly great stuff Shawn!
There it is! The grand slam home run of bench marks for your brain! Whoooo! Love it man!
Thanks for sharing this and send a video when you can with a 7 iron from the front view;
You made my birthday that much more special Bryan!😀👍
Throwing the clubs and the subsequent thought of throwing when hitting through the ball has totally changed my game. Very grateful for you instruction, your analogies and passion for the game. Love your work Shawn.
So glad you are doing this. There is a learning hazard when you try something new, improve on skills or make a small correction. It is our human tendency to focus on the tiny change and then FORGET to do all or some of the big things that were making the swing successful. It is too easy to get derailed. A checklist of the ‘biggies’ is a real good idea.
First time viewer. I already can see some of my mistakes, and, how to correct them. That’s the important thing. I can’t say I understand your terms, such as peeling the carrot. You showed us how to cut the grass which I’m going to begin to implement. Also I do not fully understand the sledge hammer, I’ll keep viewing and perhaps it will come. I like your videos and feel I’ll learn a lot about golf. I’m 91 years old, and have just got back into golf after 30 years.
I really like planeing the wood task. This has gotten rid of my hooks and allowed me hits fades finally. I try to take a practice swing to get this feel. I really noticed with the driver how it really just skips off the turf. I hit some great drives and some my longest in a long time with this task in my mind. I have a piece of wood like yours and will just continue skipping the club on it. Great video!
Wandering around Premium and stumbled upon these great vids. “Heave”, “hinge” and “levitate”. Fantastic. Wisdom in Golf speaks my language. Awesome stuff Shawn, and Jeremy and I even have the same Adidas golf shoes although I’m not a fan of them and now have some wide FJs.
thank you shawn…easy to understand ..finally let it go in the swing is as hard as in the life…and you very help us to feel that…thank you..;you are a good therapist. JJL
Hi Shawn. I’ve been using your methods to increasingly greater success striking irons but have struggled undoing my “old” way of thinking with regard to woods, especially driver. My rhythm and backswing felt off and I would often misfit or lack power. After visualizing the rope drill you did with Venky my driver swing suddenly feels freed up, with tons more power and ease. I can now release to the target and I’m pounding it! Thanks
Gave the “La Dee Da” swing thought a try today. Amazing. Scored very well on a pretty tough course that was set up for a club championship. Playing companions kept saying that “Your tempo is so good today”. That is another one of your gems. So simple, but it drives a lot of good things to happen. Try it guys!
