What irons is Savy have ? They almost look like the old pings. Does the lighter graphite shafts allow her to feel the weight of the club head better ?
On a scale of 1 to 10 what is the right hand grip pressure at address and into the takeaway ? Small hands like me betcha its at least an 8. Say good bye to those snap hooks with the driver. Yep my putting is off the planet good. Thank you very much. Have yinz ever tried putting off of one foot. If the hips are square to the line and the weight stays over that one foot you may be surprised. Works well on either foot as long as the hips are square to the line at address. When I go back to two feet distance control is very precise and repeatable. My ball striking is off the planet great also. Thank you very much. When standing on the tee looking down at my s5 I must learn to always play to the front . Why you might ask ? Welp this guy has me flushing every shot. I’m talking mash potato compression every time. Cold and rainy here so it’s a good day to have a few cold ones and work on my putting. I can’t say it enough.
Thank you Shawn , Sav and Mu
These podcasts are super helpful. Concepts like staying in the shot are easier to understand when you are not focused on all the distractions of a video, and how to put advice into action, but rather just relaxing and understanding the idea.
Shawn. After all this time ..when I cut the grass/dandilion stem let momentum carry the ACU with all clubs including the putter good things happen..BUT..when my eyes see the ball and fix on it as the target..not reliable..look out. I remember all your lessons and have to , in execution, train my brain that the target is out there…NOT down there. As always so enjoy the video lessons. J.
It’s so much easier to focus on a swing fundamental than individual elements. A press and heave into a rhythm-focused swing works really well for me from driver to chip shots. It takes my hands and arms away from the steering wheel, which is where everything can go horribly wrong. My ball striking has improved. Distance has improved. Accuracy has improved and I can shape a draw or a fade at will. Even my putting is improving. I came down from 12 to 7 handicap this year before finding Sean on-line, Next year will be very interesting – 3 or 4 handicap is not beyond a possibility.
You bet! You are talking the talk FROM walking the walk; you now see what is possible and both you and I are chomping at the bit for next season’s findings! This off season, we will buckle down on our second off season training series with the help of Sav and Mu!
Shawn
Shawn.Just an observation I note that yourself and your very able assistants seem to have the head/chin move about 25 degrees in the backswing. When I swing my head and chin stays square and centred. However when I stop take myself out of posture and look in the mirror my arms have elevated and my shoulders have turned 90 degrees.I note that in recent eagle podcast you mentioned there something dysfunctional about a head/chin that remains looking straight down.If I move my head to the extent you all do I feel as if I am over rotating.Do you see a problem with my swing?
Would have to see what you are doing because perception plays a role there; go ahead and send me a clip face on and down the line at [email protected] and I will look at it and reply. Shawn
Hi Shawn, are we supposed to combine the visualization of the arc with the feel of a task? I like to use the slashing the sword feel so would i be doing pmd with the slash feel and see the blur of the arc? And if I’m not seeing an arc in the direction I want does that mean I’m manipulating?
Beautiful! Great combo!
and at first, if you don’t see the blur match the direction, don’t fret, it is showing you what is happening so that you can adjust your alignment or ball position or match the direction of the momentum with the direction you want to see the blur go! 😀👍
Hi Shawn,
I think I have understood the anti manipulation concept.
We have to let the club do his job thanks to the momentum we have initiated. Right ?
Nevertheless I would like to have your point of view about what perception of the club do we have ?
Do we have the perception of the ” whole club” as an entity or the perception of only the clubhead ?
When I am” clubhead speed or blur oriented ” I feel that drive me to hands or wrist manipulations..
See the “lead hand release” then “trail hand release” and then the “release fine tuning” and finally my favourite, “release polish” and you will see that it is the weight of the club that controls and releases your anatomy. Keep going, the answers will come! 😀👍
I have a,hopefully, quick and easy request that i think would help all of us out here in viewer land. if you could do a down range drone shot of the practice area from 50 to 100 yds above your normal teeing spot for vids, point out your commonly used markers and targets and give us a verbal description of distances to and between them, i believe it would allow me and hopefully others to better interpret and gauge what is happening during shots as well as amount of fade/draw movement we’re perceiving with your descriptions. just a thought.
Also, if there was a way to head mount the go-pro on either your left or right temple area(as close to actual eyeline as possible) perhaps off of the hat band as opposed to hat brim, it would make your set up and alignment and delivery that much easier to correctly interpret and understand.
Thanks for all you, Sav and Mu do!!
Thank you for the suggestions! Much appreciated! Our new Rapsodo has a satellite reading of the shots and we are looking at getting that info translated into the videos.
I would like to add something more..to my first question.
I feel I make some confusion between release and wrist unhinge..
Could you help me on these 2 points..
Regards
Christian
Hi Christian! The un-hinging of the wrists are before the release; the snap that occurs when the wrists have full un-hinged and then have rotated and re-hinged on the other side of the rotation is the release.
I’m heading out in the next few minutes to our local golf course here on Gabriola Island BC and our course that has 6 out 9 holes that you have to hit your second shot from some kind of slope. And I have been struggling to be consistent from hitting the up hill and down hill shots. Now watching this video it’s most likely I’ve been trying to shift my weight forward when I should be more anchored. So I will see if I can that this task the the course
thanks
Rick
Hi Shawn, can you include controls for the ability to fast forward or rewind by 15 secs? (I’m using an iphone browser) Hard to fast forward or rewind to where i want to go by tapping on the bar.
We are including a lot more slow motion-frame by frame views in the swings as the controls don’t have this feature; I will inquire with Vimeo and see though as this would be very useful!
That would be a great feature to include for the videos! But I was referring to the audio podcasts that you are posting like the one on this page for Eagle exclusive. There are no controls except play and pause
Hi Shawn. When setting up for the draw you say line body to ‘target’ and close club face……. do you mean the actual target (ie the flag), or the target line for your arc (ie the intermediate point)?
Many thanks.
Hi Neil! You will see in “working the ball” and “draw fine tuning” that one way of drawing the ball is to aim “straight” or “parallel left of target (for the righty), play the ball back of centre (irons) and then get behind the ball with a more closed face and allow the momentum of the swing to stay to the right of the end target. You would use the intermediate point to help you do that.
I also show how to draw with the diagonal stance in the “diagonal stance series”
Hi Shawn, I noticed you mentioned that Mu will be getting the Mavrik soon. That is also the line I’m considering for myself. Just curious, would you recommend the Mavrik or the Mavrik Pro for someone at around the same level (minus the distance)?
Thanks for your feedback! I’m currently using much older Mizuno JPX800 pro and I’ve tried both Mavrik briefly at Golftown but wasn’t enough to really tell which one is better for me.
Next time you go, put impact tape on the face and hit 10 shots max each and see which one you find the centre of the face with without hitting fat. Shawn
